What is especially mind-blowing here is that this articulate and thoughtful interview was given when Pete was still just 22 years old (he turned 23 a month later). How many 22 year olds do you know with this depth of thought and expression? Not many, probably.
Holy s**t, listening to Townshend talk that deeply (and accurately) about The Beatles influence gave me chills. Listening to Townshend get asked intelligent, nuts-and-bolts questions about the making of "Who Sell Out", in early 1968, is a revelation. Forever my favorite Who album, I can't believe I'm hearing this. THANK YOU, Jason, THANK YOU. Oh my god, now he's talking about the Dead....in Feb of '68, holy smokes. Oh man, the Hendrix stuff....WHAT AN INTERVIEW!!!!!!!! This may be the best Townshend interview I've EVER HEARD!!!!
