Hi Erik, What a lovely little bowl. The simplicity in the design lets the grain be the main attraction, which it deserves to be. Take care Erik. Cheers, Huw
That is a very pretty little bowl Erik. I like the decoration on the bottom. OB Shine Juice certainly produces a fine finish. Thank you for sharing and please stay healthy.
Hello Erik i had a question regarding turning bowls as i just recently got started. After turning pens for 2 years. The main problem ive been having is with tearout and not being able to get a smooth sand. I appreciate any help thank you Logan
Eric, I’m in the same position as Logan. Can’t seem to get rid of the tear out on the end grain on the inside of the bowl - and sometimes the outside, too. Is it because of the tool? Technique? Any advice?
The best tool for that is a very sharp negative rake scraper or using your bowl gouge as a shear scraper. search shear scraping with bowl gouge mand I think Lyle Jamieson has videos up explaining this cut. Hope this helps. I get some sometimes as well. I use a friction sander as well!
