  • One summer day in 2014, the NYPD received a call from a woman asking for the detective in charge of the Shele Kovlin case. The caller turned out to be Debra Holmes, and she needed to meet with investigators. Having received such surprising news, they hoped that this unexpected call would help them solve the hopelessly stagnant investigation of a crime that had been stalled for five years...

At some point, his parents had to have known their son was a psycho who murdered his wife. Can you even imagine the way he probably hounded them half to death about giving him the (kids’)money?!… I know he at least threatened them more than once, and acted like a complete psycho on them, probably constantly. What a monster.

I used to watch Law and Order and was always confused that the maximum sentence allowed was "25 to Life." This apparently means that parole is only available after 25 years of good behavior, an admission of guilt and a demonstration of true remorse on the part of the convict. Even then, interested parties can oppose parole.
There is no actual death penalty in New York anymore, but there is an actual full life sentence still available. It is for those cases where public officials are murdered. Naturally, because they are so much more important than us peons.

There are some gaps in this narrative. The age gap is described as “notable” but no mention is made of what the difference is. When did they get married? After what is called an “idyllic life”, the story goes on to explain how in 2009, Rod called the cops that a tragedy had occurred at his “ex-wife’s” home. Something is missing: how did they go from idyllic to divorced: when did they get married? When did they get divorced? Why did they get divorced? Good stories need to follow the W5. Story is confusing by 27:03.
