    1 thing to note about projectors: Don't get single chip DLP projectors, most of them will cause flicker and weird lines in your image. Go for LCD, they're great for photo and video.

    I'm not sure you know this because of how you talked about the high contrast lighting, ambient light can be controlled with shutter speed and fstop. Flash brightness is controlled with the fstop and flash settings. So to control the high contrast, adjust the ambient light like the projector with the shutter speed and the flash/strobe brightness with the f stop to put it simply. Or meter the ambient light on the models face and decide how many stops you want the flash to be from the meter reading and adjust the flash accordingly. :)

      you can use different sized holes with construction paper or cardstock and tape them over the lens. :)
