I guess I'm late to post but I'm thinking about buying a L-2500 and this made understanding what it is so much easier. More info in 15 min than 15 hrs of watching other reviews. Thanks.
phenomenal demo! Thank you for so much info, without distractions like flashy playing and the studio/video surroundings. i have a 1985 L2000, so I am a G&L lover.
This is a fantastic demo of the L2500. I have a 1997 model (first production run) and it came with Parallel/Coil Tap wiring instead of Series/Parallel. The coil tap wiring includes .1 microfarad capacitors on the grounded coil (aka the OMG! Wiring). I recently added a 4th switch to give me Series wiring as well as Coil Tap, but for some reason, my pickups seem to have much more mid-range than yours and the bass sounded annoyingly "nasal". I'm starting to wonder if G&L rewound the pickups with less midrange post 1997... I more recently Rewired that 4th switch to swap between inner and outer coils when in Coil-Tap mode instead of series .
@@leonidis6225 That's so true! It's a cut-only passive EQ. There's loads of bass and treble in the pickups so you can shape by cutting. That's why it sounds so organic. I've had this bass since 11 years and it's here to stay...
I bought a L2500 usa. Whenever I switch to active or active treble boost, there is always a distortion hessing sound. Is this common or should I send for repair? I believe it's not the strong output cos I tried even with powerful amps and I even lower the volume output. Pls help!
This has got to be one of the two most useful L-2500 demos ever; the other one is your slap demo 😊👍

Thanks! I think this is on the best instrument demos I've ever found...
Excellent work! I have played G&L basses since 1982. This shows well the variety of tones available in the L series.
This is the most useful video I have found regarding the L2500. Nice work!
Thank you :)
Probably the best L2000/2500 demo around! Thanks my friend 👍🏼
Thanks for a most intelligent and comprehensive demo.
Makes me really want one of these basses!

Thanks! Mine originally came with the OMG caps, too. I found them to darken the sound a bit too much for my tastes, so I removed them.
Just change the wire from one pickup on selector, for example if you have black and white wire, just flip it .
I'm here because of buying that bass .
I bought the base because I was here :)
IMO many people sell them because they dont know how to work the EQ.
@@leonidis6225 I bought it,and there's no problem with EQ, pretty simple .

+Sunny Lai, is it just strong hissing or is the sound distorted? If the sound distorted, it may be a sign of dead battery. Try with a fresh one.
heavy hissing, much like a soft distortion pedal. Did changed to fresh battery but in vain:( Thanks anyway!
It's not normal at all. There should be smth wrong with the premp
went to a tech. he said it's the EQcircuit problem. :( Thanks anyway for your help? Thanks!
