Year 4 Red The Story of Hanukkah 1

As part of our R.E. topic on the Jewish festival of Hanukkah, we went on a trip to the Jewish Museum in Camden, London to learn more about how and why the festival is celebrated. On our trip we re-enacted the story of the Maccabees, which tells the story of a group of people who decided to revolt against an evil king’s wishes. Within the story we learnt the reason behind the 8 candles on a Hanukiah and why light and oil are so important during the 8 day festival.
