It's really interesting to get to see this game from an entirely different perspective. I have always aimed to be in the top guild. Was in top guild on Rodcet Nife back in the day (what I refer to as being the top guild on the worst server), top guild worldwide in EQ2, and during my recent foray on a TLP where I fulfilled every last bucket list item and then some, I was in the top guild. Raid content is what I've always lived and breathed, and I think that's a major factor in why I tend to cherish the pre-raid EQ content above everything else. My best memories of the game, quite invariably, come from non-raiding experiences. Invis corpse recovery in the Steamfont mino caves. My first adventure outside of Faydwer which took me literally straight to Everfrost. Selling "magic rings" (Cutthroat Insignia Rings) back in Faydwer to everyone who'd never seen a ring with stats on it, with none of us realizing just how worthless it was in total. The best of times.
just finding these videos. I played WAY back in the day and while i cant commit the time aymore, im really enjoying your EQ content for simply nostalgia sake. man, so many memories and good times. I'd do it all over again if i could, but alas, family now days. great videos, keep it up
Flatts, you make some of the best EverQuest content on UA-cam. I am genuinely excited to see that you have returned from your long hiatus to continue the Reptox Saga. I’m looking forward to watching your future content. It’s great to have you back!
Hah! I'm glad you lol'd, I keep watching that bit over and over and I lol every time too. I had finished the video but knew it needed a little more flair and I was quite pleased with what I ended up with.
Looking forward to more monk epic stuff. Basing my human monk off all your teachings, Agnarr server.. Human. Sorry. I like being liked though. Someone just gave me the fungi tunic. Free! I ain’t giving it back. Great job with the videos Flatts. Useful, and I enjoy them a lot.
All the background music I use for my EQ videos are themes from within the game, not all of them have track names so I usually just label them from the zones that they play in. If memory serves the songs from start of the video to finish are: Erud's Crossing, Velketors Labrynth, Wakening Lands, Neriak Castle (or Plane of Hate theme), Desert of Ro and then that last one is a personal favourite of mine, I call it Othmir Jazz its from the Othmir Beach in Cobalt Scar ;)
So, people have been playing Project 1999 for 9 years? I guess the need for expansions that drove the original EQ has no bearing on these guys. I get wanting to go back and experience it the way it was, but how could they play that for 9 years straight?
Its doubtful that many people have been playing for the entire 9 years. People come and go, there are still plenty of new players coming in even 9 years later, but I imagine there are just as many players retiring as there are new people coming in to replace them. The game in a lot of ways is not able to replicate a pure classic experience because of how long the server has been active and the way that has affected the economy but its still a very classic experience in other ways and offers people a lot of options to scratch that nostalgia itch.
That's what I was thinking that if there had been people playing for 9 years, even on and off they could have amassed great wealth and have the best of the best the game has to offer at that level. For me, back when I played the original EQ, I stayed mostly for the people, and after they quit or the guild breaks up, it's just not the same anymore. Sometimes when I get the itch I'll re-download the original EQ and run around the zones to see what was the same and what changed from the way I remembered it. But would never see myself getting back into any version of this game that took so much of my time during my 20s.
All I have to say is I love you videos , I don't even play EQ but your videos are so entertaining and informative about the game that it makes me feel like I've been playing for years, welcome back Flatts and hope you can find the time to stay and keep producing this awesome content!
I went into The Hole once on P99. The place is very cool, just dying in there would be a problem. Thankfully we didn’t and we were able to delve a bit deeper than you went. Good XP like you said, you just need a solid group to go there.
I was at the docks in the hole and my internet provider cut out...came back 2 hours later ( I was a monk, no gate or anything). I got so fking lucky and ran into a group able to port me out. Scary place! Lol
Flatts. Do you have a link or any advice on how or where to download a copy of a clean, virus free , EQ titanium for new people who want to try P99? That’s the only thing holding me back
monkey magic looks good. thx for that. please do more lore and epic quests with other classes. #15 to end is really good. i rewatch them. this is like my 3rd or 4th time rewatching these end videos. please, show me more of this great game. do a vote to see what class you should do next. personally, any would be great. whichever has the best lore, i guess would be my vote. this monk lore is awesome.
I thought ur intro on your old videos were awesome. I even got in the habit of singing it while ur video loaded lol. Be cool if u could come up with a newer, catchy, intro that hopefully won't get tagged by UA-cam.
Thanks, I really liked the intro too haha. Not everyone did tho, I had a few people mention that it was a bit lengthy to be in every single video. I think from now on I will just keep it nice and simple.
You know, I started this video when you sent me that message on reddit 8 months ago. I think I told you at the time it would probably be done in a few days... hah! my bad.
Lmao :D Life comes first, we all understand! Just really happy to have you back. Gonna be doing a rewatch of the whole series here soon while I grind yeti's in dreadlands :P
Woot! Your not dead, i had feared the worst lol. Just kidding but seriously glad your back this series randomly stopping was super dissapointing. More monkly adventures await!

These videos are great. I've been enjoying reminiscing about the original EQ.

Can't beat that Othmir Jazz.
Flatts soon there will be a new progression server on Live. I would recommend trying it out, at least in the beginning.

Great video. You said Naggy and Vox were two of the three original raid target? Who is the third that you were referring to?

PogChamp
Could you give us the name of he actual songs in the video?
Do you mean the music I use in this video or the name of the song that got copyright claimed?
Flatts the video haha. I expecially love the song near the end. Not the copyright haha. Btw, sorry about the copyright issue, that stuff sucks.
