it's amazing to me that she worked on the same song for so long with no complaints and without getting frustrated. do you have students like that too or is it just something about my particular American students??

I have been teaching for 35 years. To answer your question, American students are lazy. It is the culture. I have designed my own pedagogical techniques and methods, after studying keyboard pedagogy in college, of course. One of the most helpful things I can do with new students is TEACH THE PARENTS. Parents must have an understanding of how much practice is required to advance in each level. Giving EVERYONE a trophy is wrong. It’s wrong in sports, it’s wrong with music lessons. Having recitals is helpful - something to work toward and enjoy experience. Hope this helps.

She’s a special student, we don’t usually teach this young😌 but also we interview and are selective about who we teach…this is most important 👍😌
We don’t accept students whose parents force them, or they want to do it for leisure
We only accept students who want to love music and have serious fun! 🎉
