The picture, if you guys wanna know, that’s the Hulme crescents, an apartment complex from the 1970s, the crime there was so bad that they had to demolish them in the mid 90s.

Would have to disagree, they couldnt collect the rents, and it was a police no go area. The actual crime was the same as most places. Tes there were a few riots, primarily the anger and rage was at the government and its institutions, not the people. Lived there for many years, in the crescents, did not feel particularly vulnerable or under threat.

I lived in Charles Barry Crescent, #5 I think, directly opposite the Russell Club, Aug 79 - Apr 80. Saw JD there once, I'm pretty sure Hooky got evicted mid gig after been involved in a fracas with a punter! It was a pretty miserable period of my life however I wish I could go back as in hindsight it was an extremely special time too, especially with what was happening then. It was definitely edgy but not unbearable, might have got worse later when street drugs became more 'exotic' and prevalent but I think the main reason they were demolished is they were dreadfully constructed

There was a Shop in the middle of one of the Crescents, was open 24 hours aday Surrounded by a lawn, My abiding memories are of buying 6 cans of Breaker Lager for £1.99 or £2.99.
And sat in the Sun thinking why the Hell did my Cousin live here,
Then after visit after visit spent A year their Kept on going back there ,Then one day a Man & Woman knocked on the Door and asked to come in ."Who are you I asked " This is are Flat Are names are on the tenancy " They'd gone to Australia and Asia for a few years ,Still let me and my cousin stayed for another month, When we finally Left I had a feeling that I'd always remember my time there,
It was a at times Dangerous Andd
the roof collapsed a few months later ,Luckily the Couple who lived their weren't at home at the time.e

Urban angst creates the best music. So soft and middle class today. Little energy, little emotion, less expression.

The beginning is pretty interesting, but it gets a little chaotic, if you could redo it someday im sure you'll hit the spot

@@johnsmith-bx4rn Hello Mr Smith. Reply appreciated and I see you’ve replied to an oirish dance comment of mine. Looking back I can’t see the comments of mine that you’re directly responding too. So don’t know what to say. Here I can’t see what ‘No’ references.
