I bought a mark tree last summer - and I tell you it has been one of my favorite purchases ever. I don't fully understand why I get so much pleasure out of the sound but I do. I planned my whole winter concert around it (the songs were star themed). As a special treat I let my students play it as they are being dismissed. I brings a bit of magic and peace to our days.
As a child, wind chimes sounded so magical to me (and they still do!). It felt like fairies were flying around my ears lol. Btw the 2nd one sounds amazing 🥰
I'm a drummer, love synthesizer sounds to create any atmospheric sound but Chimes are unique, they are so good , gonna buy some and hang them in my bedroom to play any time in the middle of the day out of the blue.
I just bought a set of used OM chimes. There are two chimes missing, which doesn't bother me as much as the fact that many are literally hanging on their last thread. Since I need to restring them anyway, does anyone know where I can get custom cut chime bars to replace the two that are missing?
You do such wonderful work as a percussion and music educator. I have a request. Please. Stop. Calling. These. Windchimes. They aren’t. Wind chimes as they were called for in many pieces existed before the Mark Tree, and yes, that is properly a trade name. “Bar chime” is the best generic term I have heard.
It would be suggested that all the wind chime geeks use a streaming service in lieu of driving their neighbors insane. Chiming rights should end at property lines.
There is a very slight reflection from your green screen visible :) On another note, it would be nice if you could cover some of your session work on the channel, like going over working remotely, the kind of instruction you get or do not get, if you get to pick the instrument to play, and so on.
Abhinav Kashyap Yes, I noticed the green after I shot it. I cover recording and making choices in my “Breakdown” videos that I post for Patreon and Members.
Thank you much for your video as I've now found one sound effect I'm searching for. Would someone be so kind as to view this film at 53:30 and tell me what that metal, tube sound effect is? I recall it was very popular in movies and tv shows back in the 1970's. Seems like it's time to buy a tambourine, build some chimes including the same or purchase whatever that beautiful sound effect is that sounds like one of those bamboo things that you turn up then down that makes those sounds. "If" that's the instrument please let me know it's name. Below is the link of the movie. Listen in at 53:30 thanks. ua-cam.com/video/ys5SRIFuzsw/v-deo.html
A "solid tube" is a -rod-, not a tube. And that's a mark tree, not "wind chimes". You buy wind chimes at Target, and they're a damn sight cheaper than a mark tree -- $10 as opposed to $150.

khánh Nguyễn Hey - I don’t have any extra chimes, but maybe you could start a kickstarter or crowd funding to help get some.

I hear a flexatone there.
Hi Mike, true that's a flexitone. Just recently found out what it is. Thanks for your reply.
So this is what they use in to make magic-y sounds.
Am I the only one to hear every kind of wind chimes here and out of here in another videos with a distorted sound ?
