Yay... it's 11:31 pm here in kathmandu nepal. I've just finished the first season few minutes ago. I had decided to watch the 7th part tomorrow now I'll watch both tonight. Goodnight fron the Himalayas.
I legit think this entire series is a gem, it is indeed v v sed that there arent more people that watch this but please please keep making em! Kudos to you (and the entire team!)
Aw. Don't feel sad, I'm doing just fine. I'll keep making videos until I run out of ideas. By then viewers will give me more ideas, I'm sure. Thanks for watching. And it's just me, myself and I. 😉
This level of detail is so important to making the incredibly complicated 80 years' war accessible. Please make videos on other complicated historical conflicts
This is the best history channel on youtube. More than that, this is the best history content that I have had access to: my many, many books on the matter, included. The entire point rests upon the outstanding idea of piecing all the events together in a cohesive narrative, and not relying solely on fragments to somehow make sense of it. I know nothing else about you other than you are an incredible person, with a very acute sense of storytelling. I honestly hope you keep your fantastic work. Thank you.
The Story of the establishment of the Western Christian ( Protesrant Bible believing) nations of the world and the dawn of the Modern Age. Defragged, This is a brilliant rendition and narration of the story!! LOVE your modern phrasing and expressions to capture interest and inject humour and LOVE YOUR PRONUNCIATIONS of the Dutch, Spanish, French and German.names ect!!!
This is the best history channel on youtube!
Glad your back!! I'm watching Episode 8, but had to send this to thank you for giving the Julian AND Gregorian dates! I've often wondered if I'm commemorating the actual date when I take note of historical events. There's no doubt with you and this is the first time I've ever seen this disambiguation in a documentary...EVER!! Thanks again, and now back the episode. Great work!!
Thanks! I was inspired by an Instagram post to do this. Someone commemorated an Armada battle in July and I thought... Oh right! That's super confusing. Hence.
@@DefraggedHistory I appreciate your flexibility and instincts. Btw, the Armada section worked like a "sub-documentary"; very informative. Can't wait for the next episode!! Good luck!!
This series has been a stunning documentary! Very high quality while being enjoyable and easy to listen to. Thank you for giving us such videos and I can’t wait for more!
I noticed that too, how incredibly fluent these Spanish names are pronounced. I also love how the names or not "translated". It's Felipe, not Philip or Philips, Wilhelm Ludwig not Willem Lodewijk. It adds authenticity, but more than that, it shows that there really were multiple sides to the hole history: a Dutch side, but also Spanish, English, German, not to mention Protestant and Catholic.
I love the content of your channel. So much so that I've been binge-watching all weekend and this entire week!! Your channel is a gem and I like that you cover topics like these ones. Normaly it's always WWI & II, the Roman Empire, Egypt... The topics you cover are harder to find and especially at this level of quality of research and story-telling. I subscribed and wanted to say thanks a lot for all your work and effort, and for sharing it with us! Greetings from Belgium!
I am thoroughly enjoying this series! Thank you for providing hours of very entertaining and (mostly) very accurate information on this truely pivotal era in European history which saw the first true nation state emerge from the chaos.
@@DefraggedHistory Definitely, more competition too, documentary-wise. But refreshing to hear a perspective that speaks of an Anglo-Dutch alliance countering the Armada. Anglo-Saxon perspectives can be...selective.
@@nilsvisser4383 Yes I think you'll find that virtually all countries perspectives can be 'selective' even your own. But one thing that is not selective is that Francis Drake OWNED the Spaniards
Hello! Is there an ETA on the release of the next episode? Also, is there a better place for me to find this information in the future? I'm trying not to be impatient I just love your work so much! Thanks for the amazing history stories, keep it up!!
I'll make community posts from now on once I know the date. Generally I use twitter to keep everyone updated and the website has some information. I can't tell exactly when new videos arrive, since I'm usually still working on them and things can go wrong. Generally though, every three to four weeks after the last one on a Thursday evening CET. Thanks for watching!
Oh, I'm late! So, let give it a gooo! PS: I may have got a sence of reckognition in youtube of your great work and seriuos research. Just go on! And at least: We realy love you! 😍😍🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
Google books has scans of a lot of the old ones, and I have a subcription for most of the e-books I used. And then just buying books, sometimes from second-hand book stores.
Life in those days was short, brutal and violent.. But people had a cause to live, fight and die for. Nowadays the only action you see is on a tv screen or on a game console.. and still people are yakking, complaining and bitching all the time
No, more like Cersei. The only character in the novels that was 100% evil. And in Felipe's case it's mainly because his father, Charles V, saw more potential in Willem van Nassau than in his own son.
