Yeah, the chair can correct a line judges call if they think it was clearly the opposite of what they called. The rules on what happens after are very shaky though, and it’s almost like they depend on who you have as an umpire
@@cubinginanutshell1774 Yes, I know the chair can overrule, but that's not what happened here. According to the captions, a line umpire called "out", and then a different line umpire called the correction. It does sound like 2 different voices, but they're definitely men's voices. The chair umpire can overrule because they're effectively the "head line umpire" and have authority over the line umpires on court. But I always thought that the rest of the linespeople were responsible for calling their assigned line and were not supposed to overrule each other. That's what I was asking about.
I watch this match between Kyrgios and Tsitsipas quite frequently, the extended highlights. Had no idea that there was this much controversy, I'm glad I found it! Entertaining tennis, and entertaining drama!
Hitting people with balls is way worse than repeatedly cursing. The British commentators were too obsessed with backing foolish polite society nonsense at the expense of supporting basic safety.
When the opponent gets that angry about an underarm serve, it's a sign you should do more 😏. Not against the rules to hit a serve closer to the net when the receiver stands so far behind the baseline.
To be honest it's quite simple. Because they know the rules. And as unpopular as it may be they were correct. The umpire made to replay the point because these are the rules, even when it's in inconvenient timing, even when line judge made a mistake. They were right about the swearing, 2 times line judges came to the umpire about his swearing, he should have gotten 2 code violations for this. And then for threatening the umpire and constant swearing on the bench. They were also right about Tsitsipas, he shouldn't have been defaulted. 1. The ball didn't hit anyone. 2. The umpire didn't see the incident, so he can't default a player just because his opponent said he should. He should have gotten a code violation for this as he did. And he shouldn't have gotten the second code violation when he hit the score board because it was mid point. Those are the rules and they actually know the rules, apparently unlike most of Kyrgios's fans judging by the comments here. And know I don't like Tsitsipas, and I don't like Kyrgios either. I prefer players who can control they're temper and don't act like immature babies.
@@Noa-cc9ur That's not how it should be. It doesn't matter if you hit someone or not. What you need to see is whether the player had an intent to hit the ball towards the spectators. What you are saying is that you can shoot the ball towards the spectators and get away with it unless you hurt somebody. Did you even see the speed of the ball? That ball was dangerous and should've been a default 100%.

Very good video per the usual. SO much to comment on. The Thompson call was BS, horrid call. I would've been even more pissed than Thompson as the ref seemed to lean into Tsitsipas favor. And coco? I used to like rooting for her, but girl that's part of the game. Maybe don't set yourself up to get hit next time. And then ostopenko? A seasoned veteran in tennis should NEVER act that way. And then the finale... I admit I didn't watch Wimbledon as I hadn't. But I admit that I am in favor of Kygiros here. There were some times where I was divided on him being right and wrong, but I found him making sense most times. Admit, Kyrgios isn't known to be the most ... polite player but what tsitsipas did and acted was absolutely out of hand. That should have been a default. There was another case in an earlier video of something similar happening and it was an automatic default. What about the Joker incident? That was a default. Ump was useless. On top of that, Kyrgios is absolutely correct and should have been pissed off. I would bet a significant amount of money that if he was the one that hit the ball into the crowd and hit someone that he would have been defaulted, fined, and suspended. Ultimately though, he needs to let it go. Hanging onto something like that (unless the banter continues AS IT DID) will only impact his game.
Actually watching the Tsitsipas Kyrgios match again I think I see Tsitsipas press conference calling him a bully a little better. Like the third game if the third set he talked about Tsitsipas hitting the ball at the crowd between every single serve. Not defending Tsitsi hitting the ball at the crowd, probably the worst thing he has done in his career now. Still though, playing Nick must be rough mentally and he is somewhat of a bully early in the match.
Exactly. Kyrgios is the best at this. He can keep talking non-stop to mess with his opponents and throw them off. He knows exactly what to say and when to stop before getting penalties. He's been doing it for years. Tsitsipas just couldn't deal with it and isolate himself from the drama and he lost focus. It's sort of like bullying. The one getting bullied reacts at some point and gets in trouble too. Difference is Kyrgios is used to getting in trouble. He thrives on it.
I love it when Nick calls out the double standard of these officials, if it was Djokovic or himself that did what cheatsitpas did, they would have been defaulted
well lets be real, Novak has gotten away with it so many times, remember when he threw his racquet and was centimeters away from hitting the line judge?
I don't think he should have been defaulted for 2 reasons: 1. The ball didn't hit anyone. 2. The umpire clearly didn't see the incident so he couldn't just default a player based solely on his opponents word. Not that I'm justifying hitting balls into the crowd or any of the ridiculous behaviours of any of these clowns, but strictly by the rules he shouldn't have been defaulted
@@Noa-cc9ur If you saw the actual replay they showed during the match, the ball bounced off of the wall and hit a woman in the head. it wasn't hard, but it did hit her. They're reason for not defaulting him was because she wasn't "seriously" injured. Apparently a spectator has to lose an eye for a player to be defaulted.
I don't usually agree with Kyrgios but on this one I do. If they're going to eject Novak from the tournament for clearly accidentally hitting a line judge then they have to follow the same precedent with Tsisipas intentionally hitting the crowd
Terribly biased commentators in the Kyrgios v. Tsitsipas match, constantly whining about Kyrgios' swearing but not a word on Tsitsipas' ball into the crowd or the one aimed at Kyrgios. Both players could have been more sportsmanlike but these commentators could definitely focus on objectivity.
Kyrgios has hit multiple balls into the crowd this year and nothing happened. When playing against Medvedev and Nadal. He didn't get defaulted. He knows it. He's was just trying to mess with Tsitsipas here.

That's insane.. Kyrgios is so fckg right about the Tsitsipas thing "Was she injured?" "Yes" talking about bullshit, the ball didn't even touched her. This ref is a total disgrace.
Bottom line both of them acted like clowns. Nick had a legit point with Stefanos hitting that ball in the crowd that rebounded off the wall and hit the spectator in the head, but at the same time the amount of swearing from nick was really gross... not physically damaging but just nasty. But in the end sfef totally melted down. If you can’t keep a cool head during nicks antics (like sinner did in Miami) and you choose to engage, you’re most likely going to lose. That’s the type of tennis nick wants to play.
I think it’s funny how they give kyrigos audible obscenity when nobody around him but the umps can hear it. But when he’s cussing on the court and yelling it he gets no warning. I love tennis. Lmao
Kyrgios should have been warned like 3 or 4 times before Tsitsipas threw that ball into the crowd. Kyrgios was bulling the umpire all the time. However terrible behaviour from Tsitsipas as well. He should not have allowed Kyrgios to get into his nerves. Kyrgios should just shut up and play. Tsitsipas did as Kyrgios at Australia when he hitted a ball out to the crowd, btw. And Nick if i see your match is not only because you are playing...
it's not like kyrgios really cared about whether or not someone got hit with tsitsipas's ball into the crowd. he just wanted the match over with. im not taking sides here since both of them acted terribly during this match

Kyrgios asking for a default, hypocrit at his finest. He did the same this year in AO doubles match, and wasn't punished neither, even he won the tournament and press media maked up the act because he "gifted" his racket to the boy that was hit. Such a clown. Both of them behaved like sht but don't pretend to make Nick the angel. Keep supporting him, you will convert the most respectful sport in a circus.
Kyrgios 100% right. Had he been slapping balls at the crowd he'd have been defaulted on the spot, banned from tournaments for a month and fined 5 figures at a minimum. Surprised these so called expert commentators couldnt work the angles on that
Bro he's telling everyone they're dumb, they're a disgrace, he should be fined heavily. Can't believe the umpire let's that piece of shit talk to him like that
So Tsitsipas's behaviour was terrible but i can't really understand why so many people defend Kyrgios who is a clear abuser and plays the victim role when he is the one many times forgiven.
John Lloyd does not like Kyrgios, he sees him as disrespectful, and not in the "spirit of the game" etc. However, he must realise that the man is pure box office tennis theatre, and the way he plays will inspire kids to play. 40 years ago we were swearing our heads off on the playground, so don't tell me that his swearing is gonna negatively affect children. It will fascinate them. Is this a good thing for kids to hear, probably not, but in today's society they are surrounded by it anyway.

But I always thought that the rest of the linespeople were responsible for calling their assigned line and were not supposed to overrule each other. That's what I was asking about.
@@TRASHoftheTITANS oh, I see. I didn’t notice that
I think he corrected himself, but it sounded weird. I'm pretty sure line judges don't have the authority to correct another line judge.
@@TRASHoftheTITANS Interesting question... I hope it will be answered
75% of the video was tsitsipas vs kyrgios and i love it
I watch this match between Kyrgios and Tsitsipas quite frequently, the extended highlights. Had no idea that there was this much controversy, I'm glad I found it! Entertaining tennis, and entertaining drama!
LOL Ostapenko such a child...
She isn't a child. You are the child. Try to be on Ostapenko's shoes, you idiot.
Not sure why the announcers are on Tsitsipas’ side the whole time. Both players were doing their normal thing and were penalized appropriately.
@@Noa-cc9ur the ball DID hit a spectator genius...it bounced off the wall and hit a spectator on the back of the head...it should have been a default...end of story
@@Noa-cc9ur also jist to clarify i am not a kyrgios fan...i hate him...but i can be unbiased and see that BOTH were disgraceful but what tsitsipas did in the match on numerous occasions...was worse than kyrgios swearing...because tsitsipas nearly caused physical harm to the spectator and his opponent...shameful from both
When you used to own CPU Andy Murray during your prime years in Topspin 4 but then remember he’s defeated you 6 times in a row in career mode recently with you using your best coach.
The kyrgios - tsitsipas behaviour is the textbook example of the double standard Serena mentioned in the us open final
This is priceless! 👏 Btw, Kyrgios are a 100% sure in this case, Tsitsipas was a fking jerk. Shame for the commentators
Bullying 😂
acting like that was the only time Tsitsipas behaved shitty like that...
I was waiting for this episode ever since that Tsitsipas Kygrios match, though you should've included their press conferences as well
The commentators on tsitsi vs nick are pissing me of
I love it when Nick calls out the double standard of these officials, if it was Djokovic or himself that did what cheatsitpas did, they would have been defaulted
well lets be real, Novak has gotten away with it so many times, remember when he threw his racquet and was centimeters away from hitting the line judge?
@@hiphoponeworld no, when?
@@hiphoponeworld y u lying like that?
@@hiphoponeworld tsitsipas is so much worse than djokovic in terms of behavior...fact
Kyrgios is right. Tsitsipas should have been defaulted there
Amaizing job bro, I love these videos.
🙏💚
As much as Tsitsipas should be defaulted, Kyrgios should have gotten a lot more warnings
Exactly. Bitch needs to learn to shut up
I would give him a warning anytime he calls me bro
@@Noa-cc9ur If you saw the actual replay they showed during the match, the ball bounced off of the wall and hit a woman in the head. it wasn't hard, but it did hit her. They're reason for not defaulting him was because she wasn't "seriously" injured. Apparently a spectator has to lose an eye for a player to be defaulted.
The way he says “Oh my God” is hilarious
I don't usually agree with Kyrgios but on this one I do. If they're going to eject Novak from the tournament for clearly accidentally hitting a line judge then they have to follow the same precedent with Tsisipas intentionally hitting the crowd
Vandewhege is such a child. Chwalinska clearly didn't mean to hit her and apologized right away
Is Tsitsipas seriously complaining about "zero respect" after he just smashed the ball into the crowd?! Zero self awareness...
Another excellent video from this channel
🙏💚
Terribly biased commentators in the Kyrgios v. Tsitsipas match, constantly whining about Kyrgios' swearing but not a word on Tsitsipas' ball into the crowd or the one aimed at Kyrgios. Both players could have been more sportsmanlike but these commentators could definitely focus on objectivity.
Imagine what the commentators would be saying if Kyrgios had hit it in to the crowd.
Imagine what ATP would've done, probably instant ban
@urmintrude @@konepe1653 Kyrgios hit the ball in to the crowd when he lost the 1st set against Medvedev last week, so stop embarrassing yourselves
Kyrgios has hit multiple balls into the crowd this year and nothing happened. When playing against Medvedev and Nadal. He didn't get defaulted. He knows it. He's was just trying to mess with Tsitsipas here.

Some people are very funny.
lol it's the same umpire in the Kyrgios match here that was in the match against Nadal at Wimbledon when he was constantly complaining.
That's insane.. Kyrgios is so fckg right about the Tsitsipas thing "Was she injured?" "Yes" talking about bullshit, the ball didn't even touched her. This ref is a total disgrace.
3/4 of this video is Mr. & Mrs. Clown
What a freaking joke these Wimbledon commentators were and the match officials
kyrgios saying they want to see me not you was cold
Kyrgios should have been banned from tournaments for his aggressive abusive behaviors.
Any drama video exists.
Ostapenko: I would like to put myself in there.
Yesss!!! Nice surprise to see a new video from this channel :)
THIS IS ENTERTAINING AF
That umpire is a disgrace. Clear bias.
I think it’s funny how they give kyrigos audible obscenity when nobody around him but the umps can hear it. But when he’s cussing on the court and yelling it he gets no warning. I love tennis. Lmao
Kyrgios was just trolling everyone on that court that day! 😆😆😆
What Tennis Drama video would be complete without the king of drama Nick Kyrgios
The kyrgios vs tsitipas was 🔥🙌
Keep up the good work man👌 💯
Great videos! keep up the good work!!
15 out of 20 mins occupied with kyrgios and tsitsipas conflict...? Now that's what I like to see :)
Nick right on every point he makes aswell... but they mask that with the 'unsportsmanlike conduct'
it's not like kyrgios really cared about whether or not someone got hit with tsitsipas's ball into the crowd. he just wanted the match over with. im not taking sides here since both of them acted terribly during this match
In Jordan-Tsitsipas match the umpire made a terrible mistake. Even by Tsitsipas reaction you can see he was ready for 'replay the point'.
Love your vids but this one was tough to watch, the whole Kyrgios-Tsitsipas match was such a freakshow. Would've liked to see more from Wimbly, maybe in the next vid? :)
don't be pathetic , it's what it's about
these commentators are bending over BACKWARDS to not say a single bad thing about tsitsipas, and they even wondered why tsitsipas was looking like the bad guy? insanity.
the commentator saying perfectly legal after tsisipas smacked one directly at nick is kinda cringe
That Tsitsipas-Kyrgios drama was first-tier circus, and as a bonus, they also played some tennis. Perfect match for popcorn and beer😂

UMBELIBLE
So Tsitsipas's behaviour was terrible but i can't really understand why so many people defend Kyrgios who is a clear abuser and plays the victim role when he is the one many times forgiven.
Can someone explain when it's time to replay the point and when it's not?
How much did tsitsipas pay the announcers?
It sounds strange to say this but Kyrgios is right about everything he says.
He isn't though. Behaved like a total dick the whole match too.
4:30 nice to see Mariaan de Swardt is still playing ;-)
Love the music at the end of the video!
The commentators at nick and Stefanos match were disgusting
Seeing Tsitsipas on the receiving end of the "Wrath of Kyrgios" is so satisfying to watch. Did Tsitsipas one of his famous toilet breaks in this game too?
