A buddy of mine and I drove in from Hillsgrove 10 or so years back, before some of the more recent flooding. I'd been back around those parts since but not on the trail / road from Hillsgrove to Masten. The erosion from the flooding is almost inconceivable. Thanks for this video
I was just back out to the OLP this past weekend, first video will drop tomorrow. They've fixed some of the road damage right in the valley but still working on some other spots. It is a great are. We did the entire loop this time.
What that the Sept. 2011 flood?
That is one dense forest! Those rocks at the top of the tree line, incredible 😀👍
These forests get more dense the closer to the center of the state you get... I love it!
Dang good looking trail and weekend. Thanks for sharing.
It really was. Thanks for checking it out!
Cool. Always good to hang out with a couple buddies who are not camera shy. The deer fencing thing is new to me but the woods in your area are absolutely awesome!!! Thanks for sharing!!!
Thanks Chris! Yeah good hike with good people, you can't ask for more than that!
Got to do this one myself Kurt... Great filming as always !!
Gorgeous area with a lot of options. You can do the entire 30 mile OLP, you can do half of it or any number of side trails.
Great video I like how you opened this one. It's always fun seeing different perspectives of trips its even better when it a trip you are part of.
Thanks Dragon, yeah I like watching other people's takes on trips or area's in general. Everyone sees things just a little differently
Nice overnight hike Kurt. Looked like a great area. A bit of a change in weather from one day to the next. That house though...wtf? Interesting stuff my friend! Thanks for taking us along!
Thanks Doug! Found out that the area had been hit by 2 massive flash floods in 5 years. There's damage all over the place... who knows where that house even came from.
Cool video. I always like getting up seeing someone already building a fire. Lol. Looks like you guys had a fun trip. Thanks for sharing and keep the videos coming. 😃👍
Thanks Jason. It was a little weird waking up at 5:30am and seeing the underside of my tarp glowing red lol
Awesome stuff!
Thank you sir!
Great video for a lazy Sunday Afternoon! I remember camping in Allegheny National Forest a few years ago, and they allowed Fracking in the park, so strange. Anyway, trying to get back into the swing of things after 3 months!
Hey what's up Rob? Haven't seen you in a few months, hope everything is good. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video!
Great video just getting out and exploring! Really jealous haha I am craving an overnight trip!
It was a lot of fun, a good trip with some good people is always a good time.
Another awesome video my friend
Thank you!
Just came across your video, that cabin you came across at the 3 minute mark was our hunting camp that has been in the family since 1949. The valley flooded and the house was destroyed a few years ago
Oh that sucks, were you able to rebuild? I know there was a lot of damage done out there over a couple storms in just under a 2 year period. They're still rebuilding those roads in some spots.
Really nice overnight. I was just on the AT in Connecticut this past weekend, and will be doing the whole OLP at the end of May.
Thank you, you'll love the OLP, just be aware if it rains just before or while you're there you will get wet feet at a couple of the stream crossings lol. Have fun!
Nice mellow trip you guys did there. And what a beauty area as well!
Love lil babbling creeks like that! I bet that area looks awesome when
all the foliage pops out. Cheers to a fun trip with fun friends!
Yeah, the Old Loggers Path is mostly old logging roads and railroad grade so it's pretty easy going aside from a few spots but nothing bad at all. Beautiful area even (especially) in the fog.
Another great trip bro. I never saw those deer enclosures before that is really cool. The deer are way over populated all over the US.
Thanks brother! I just started seeing those exclosures in the past few years. Great idea and interesting to see the difference in the forest.
that section did look sketchy but also insanely awesome! what a sweet pathway/trail system. wow almost 30 miles! im sure the forest is amazing when it comes alive in spring too, loved the scenery around the 18 minute mark. fog is always so stunning even though camera lenses don't like it lol. what the blue blazes? hehe great video thanks for sharing this adventure!
It turns out the area had been hit by 2 flash floods in 5 years, there were a lot of sketchy parts. Definitely want to head back out there and do the entire loop next time. Thanks for checking it out!
What in the blue blazes? Cooking with the Z is a trend setter and great teacher lol The sideways hat was cool but the lesson on PA forestry was fantastic! Often on the trail we come across interesting sites and wonder what's the story? Good stuff my friend!
lol the sideways hat... yeah that was out of necessity. The brim is really long on the back of that hat and kept catching the hood of my rain jacket. So when I was ascending the hat would get pushed forward as I was trying to look up the mountain so I had to turn it sideways so I could see. I thought I looked like Cap'n Crunch... they thought I looked like the guy from F Troop.
Great video. Looks like a nice, relaxed hike. I'm doing this trail mid-April. What time of year was this filmed? Doesn't look like there is that much green out there.
This trip was April 14-15th 2018. Dragon and I went back May 2019 and completed then entire 30 miles, then in September 2019 we went and did it again with some friends.
Great video like always looks like yall had a lot of fun :)
Thanks! It was a lot of fun, beautiful area.
Is thos old vidoe? Or its just the leaves are not out yet?, great adventure here
Nope this isn't an old video, spring is just getting started here. Leaves are just starting to bud... trees will be green in no time
