In this video, we went on a water buffalo ride, which initially left us concerned about the use of animals for entertainment. However, after thorough research, we realized that the water buffaloes here are very well taken care of, which made us reconsider the situation.
The island heavily relies on this type of tourism. The water buffalo ride is one of the main sources of livelihood for the local community. During the ride, the guide shared valuable insights about the village, demonstrating genuine interest and concern for its preservation. It became clear how much the residents value and strive to protect the area.
We reflected deeply on the issue of animal use, but we found that, in this case, the water buffaloes do not suffer mistreatment. They receive special care, have limited working hours to ensure their rest, and there is rotation to prevent them from being overburdened. Professionals keep the environment clean, and there are specialists dedicated to the care of these animals.
The water buffaloes are treated with safety and live in a suitable environment, with balanced meals and veterinary supervision. They only work for short periods and over short distances, moving slowly to avoid any excessive strain.
It is important to highlight that the water buffaloes are well cared for. They do not work all day, but only for short periods, and there is a specific person responsible for them. The place where they live is kept clean and suitable for their needs.
In summary, our experience showed us that, on the island, water buffalo tourism is conducted ethically and responsibly, ensuring the welfare of the animals and the livelihood of the local community.
