it's getting expensive to watch your videos first i bought a neogeo mvs;) and now i bought an amiga 500;) just so i could fix them .. because of your videos they work 100% now .. thanks hope you make many more videos .. ;)
Oh the pinball game. I played it as a kid the whole day with my brother (RIP) back then. Want to play it now again :) 30 years... time flys by in now time....
Interesting enough but I find canned compressed air evaporates rubbing alcohol in a fraction of the time it takes wiping it down after. However wiping it down works well for scrubbing.
The later Amigas (A600, A1200, CD32 and I suspect the A4000) have the 2 phono sockets linked together with the connection between them broken when the plugs for both channels are inserted. This gives mono output with only one plug inserted, but stereo when both are inserted. The older (A500/2000 era) boards aren't wired up this way as far as I'm aware though.
Thanks for the video GadgetUK. BTW, I'm pretty sure the A3000 does do mono audio mixing if only one of the phono jacks is plugged in. Maybe other models do too.
Another tip top job but Mr Chris. I really must invest in some of those cleaning chemicals you use. Great music used to test the fix, Alien Breed and Ghouls n Ghosts, love it. Well done Chris By the way, is it white vinegar you use?
thanks man, really well presented. ive got this sub, the connection from the back of the rca to circuit board is dodgy and i had to glue the plastic housing back together. ive bypassed the rca connections and using speaker in out, would that dodgy rca be the cause of the feeback even tho its not in use?
love the vid man. you are a joy to watch work on electronics. been loving my new job. work doesn't feel like work. I justs get lost in board repair. I do have one question. when it comes to removing through-hole ICs are there any tricks or tips you have for getting the solder to come completely out from the pin holes? smh the place I work doesn't have a desolder pump but we do have chemwick solder wick. Adding more solder works sometimes but damn it can take a while to get a chip free from the board.
I would love to see some repairs of shorted/burntish boards. something meaty if you know what i mean. something most would say wow a lost cause. lol. :D thanks again.
Thanks! Glad the job is going well! Get a manual desolder pump from eBay - they are like £5 - that should help unblocking holes on through hole! I hate using solder wick for that sort of thing! Regards charred PCBs, will see what I can come up with =D
@@GadgetUK164 Thank you. I have seen the guys in the lab working on shorted/burnt board and would like to see ways of saving them if possible. one thing I have to work on is my speed this a production kinda thing at work. if I repair $10,000 worth of stuff in a month I get a bonus. lol. I am really loving the job. I really hope you get things sorted out on your end. hopefully, soon I can contribute to your endeavors somehow.
2007 / 2008 ish I think! Yes, it works with anything I throw at it and it gives an excellent picture! It was around the time everyone started to cut over to HD, and as a result it has lots of support for SD. Lots of SCART sockets, component, composite, S-Video etc, as well as 3 HDMI ports.

Same here. :)

Thank you, GadgetUK164, much appreciated Amiga A2000 audio repair.

Another great vid, Chris. Definitely looking forward to the Arc content. Those computers deserve more coverage.
Nice repairs. Your solutions are excellent and I am sure many people appreciate it, I know I do. A great library built up so keep up the good work!
I think that the Alien Breed '92 music is the best ever game music from any game ever made! The digital illusions intro of course is a close second!
Agreed! I love those two tracks!
Tower assault music is good to 🙂👍

Your suspicion is spot on, the A4000 has the internal switch as well.
@@firstsurname9893 Cool, I thought that it probably would be, but with Commodore anything is possible !
9:37 "Do a little bit of that" classic!
LOL =D
Great video, thanks for posting! Also, liked the music showcase from Pinball Dreams :-)
Good work always- i prefer the longer videos , keep up the great work ;)

Ah OK - the 2000 doesn't! See the schematics at the end!
If you grab the very tip of a cotton bud and pull you can pull some of the cotton wool off so it will fit into the centre of a phono socket
Saturday Evening sorted! 👍
=D
Great video as always ❤️👍
Metal polish although more time consuming is good for cleaning the outside terminals on rca jacks.
Yep, that will do just as good a job - maybe even better!
Pinball Dreams is my favorite Game
I'm starting to think I have a cotton bud clean-up fetish -- a thoroughly satisfying video. ;)
that joystick port on the right didn't look straight at all.. I would have been tempted to straighten out.. OCD alert! :)

By the way, is it white vinegar you use?
Thanks mate =D White Vinegar to clean up corrosion, but then clean that away with IPA 99.9% of as near as possible.
@@GadgetUK164 We use IPA at work actually.

I am not sure what you mean by feedback? You shouldn't hear any feedback unless there's a fault or the wiring is wrong perhaps.
It looks like the ground on the other connections do with a go with the fibreglass pen to 😕

Is that Philips TV or yours quite old? It seems to be able to handle connections from anything and does a decent picture for an LCD.

I've got a 2006 "HD Ready" 32" Sony and it handles analogue video far better than the newer Tosh and Samsungs I've got.
What is that pink liquid? Used on cotton swabs?
Deoxit =D
