Buckaroo was the run of a coming Melbourne Cup winner if he can stay 2 miles but......he is by Fastnet Rock, the winner of a Lightning and an Oakleigh Plate, so you would think he would be 100/1 about staying 2 miles, the last time something like that was done was by Malua back in 1884, sprinters can stretch to 2400 but 2 miles takes a genuine stayer, Buckaroo is a conundrum wrapped in a riddle.......If I owned him I would definitely have a crack as everything about him says he should be given his shot at the gold ring, as a Punter though, I could not take the price on offer or anything even close, he is out of a Galileo mare but the mare is out of a More Than ready Mare and they ain't stayers either, but Fastent Rock was a wet tracker, so is More Than Ready and so is Buckaroo.......a wet track might be his "Ace in the Hole" For mine the most impressive Cup runs were Point King and Land Legend and I have an inkling that if Deny Knowledge goes there she will improve, she obviously had a foot problem, it was touch and go whether she would be allowed to start in the Caulfield Cup, they made a Gear change, concussion plates to scrape in past the vets, even her jockey was stood down from his next ride so he was either sick or injured, she was only 3rd up so should go better, it took her 800 metres to get to the front, she did a power of work getting there, they went past her before the turn like she was going to drop right out but she didn't, Only the winner, Buckaroo and the Meprop Quinella got past her, don't write her off, triple figures looks overs, the other horse that I have taken triple figures about is Francesco Guardi, his last few runs have Melbourne Cup written all over him and he was also triple figures, stioll not qualified but I am hoping he rectifies that in either the Geelong or Moonee Valley Cups So far I have backed 5 horses at huge prices, Point King Land Legend Deny Knowledge Francesco Guardi and Okita Soushi

Point king will go very close and Deny knowledge both very fit horses...
They wont run the distance

Probably 20 of the 24 horses in the cup won't run the distance. It happens every year.
