    For those that know my channel, it's no surprise that my favourite medium format film camera is the Mamiya RB67. To me, the 6x7 aspect ratio, combined with the RB67's ability to rotate from landscape to portrait orientation, makes it the perfect tool for my field work.
    While I'm usually using my Mamiya RB67 to capture landscape and woodland photography, I thought it would be a nice change of pace to take it out on a sunny Winter day and show you the streets of Old Montreal through the viewfinder!
    Beautiful vintage glass, large and bright viewfinder... what more could you ask for?
    You can see a lot of the work I've created with this camera on my Instagram page @jesshobbsphoto, and of course, here on my UA-cam channel!

    I've got one of these. I also have a metered chimney viewfinder, a prism viewfinder (hold the camera at eye level like a 35 mm SLR), a 6x4.5 back from Mamiya, a 220 back (20 frames instead of 10, if you can find 220 film -- hint, Shanghai GP3), and four Graflex film backs that fit in 6x6, 6x7, and 6x9 (one of those is for 220 as well). Not to mention two 2x3 Grafmatics that fit and use sheet film. I have 50, 90, 127, 150 soft focus, and 180 mm lenses, a 2x teleconverter, and a 0.45x filter ring converter. Oh, and the left hand grip that makes hand held shooting *SO* much easier.
    With the 127 lens that arrived yesterday, I've got a total of about $1500 into the complete outfit (over almost three years). I know, I could have spent the same money on a Hasselblad -- with one viewfinder, one lens, and one film back...

      @@whoisdenan I'm not even close to that level. There was a motor drive back (that I don't care about, probably great for professionals when this was a premier model shooting camera, but very wrong for the way I shoot), 250 and 360 mm lenses, the 140 mm macro (forgot to mention I have both macro tubes for this mount, too), and the 6x8 back (which wouldn't gain anything for me, mine doesn't have the 8 cm baffles installed).
      Really, about the only thing I'd want to add now is an improved focusing screen, like a Fresnel bright screen with microprism focusing aid.

    Its built like a tank, and requires no battery so it will never let you down. Just keep an eye on the bellows to ensure you have no pin hole light leaks. I only upgraded to an RZ67 as I needed a good tilt/shift lens for architectural photography.

    It’s probably one of the best SLR medium format cameras out there for the price. The downsides are that it’s pretty clunky and extremely big and heavy. Personally I’d rather have a C330 TLR because of the size difference but these things are great in studio environments.

    is what you see in the "viewer" exactly how the image is gonna turn out? For my Nikon digital camera even if the image in the viewer turns out ok, after pressing the shutter it usually does not look the same. Sometimes darker sometimes brighter.

    • @JessHobbs
      @JessHobbs  4 місяці тому +1

      No, the viewfinder allows you to compose your shot, but it is not representative of the final image. In this case, it all depends on what film I load into my camera. I could use a variety of black & white films, colour negative, or slide film, each with their own individual look.
      I'm not as familiar with digital cameras, I pretty much only shoot on film, but it all depends on how your LCD screen is calibrated. And then things like bright sunlight will make your screen seem darker, you need to trust that your settings are accurately capturing the image you are going for. And then there's tons of things you can do in post-processing software to make it look the way you want it to.

      RB is a tank, their is a high chance that the mamiya 7 might stop working and due to the electronics present in it. And ones those go bad it's very hard to repair or replace due to high coat
