🥰Wow! These look fantastic! I’ve never found a dry gouache /opaque watercolor that works as well as these appear to.They are only availabl straight from you, Jane? I’m in the U.S. and I’m concerned about shipping costs (also letting myself loose in your store! There are several products that I’ve wanted for years(I haven’t checked to see if you have them all in - like the clear journal covers) but between shipping and the lure of workshops I have kept myself away. Back before you had your own product lines available in the USA, I would get so excited when I found things like Peerless watercolors here (I have all of the colors in full sheets.. I’m a total completionism with a bad case of rainbowitis!) and Platinum pens (which I still use all of the time... I’ve even put Inkcredible inks in them with a converter... only a few colors although I have them all... when I received my original order of Inkredible Inks from Michaels, there was no yellow or orange and I was so distressed I called the corporate office and left a message with a rather confused receptionist 🤦🏻♀️ 😂). Hearing you talking about being at your mum’s house after spinal surgery (I hope it helped and you’re recovering!! ❤️) and the awkward recording setup reminded me of Frida Khalo; I just re-watched the film “Frida” (with my 14 year old aspiring artist in who had never seen it) with Salma Hayek (a brilliant performance!!). It’s such a testament to what an artist can do despite a less-than-ideal setup (an understatement!) and enormous pain and discomfort. I hadn’t seen the film since I got a copy of her journal (beautiful full color reproduction with English translations in the back half) and when a scene finally came up where she was working in it, I paused the film, grabbed the book, and there was the page! I doubt she ever expected anyone (outside maybe her family) to ever be interested in her journal and you can see where watercolor bled through pages covered in text and doodles... it’s amazing and so inspiring! For anyone reading this that hasn’t seen the film or looked at and read the journal, I can’t recommend them enough (I only wish I could have visited the Blue House with Jane when she went to Mexico!). Sorry for writing so much! I hope your back is feeling better and you’ve let people help you and take care of you! 🥰

I hope you are enjoying them. At the moment we have the white pans as singles. In the future we may be able to offer other colours as singles, but not as yet.
@@janedavenport i havent received them yet. They are enroute. I am sad, however, that i didnt know i could at least get extra whites. I would like at least 3-4 of them.... I would like to thank u for including my people in ur matte acrylics and also ur layercakes. I take it i can use the black and darkest brown mixed together to make a very darkskin person. I guess i will use white gouache to mix with the cakes to make an assortment of african american complexions. Thanks again
@@ertfgghhhh I think ( hope!) you will be delighted with the 'Tiramisu' pan in particular - it has three flesh tones you can easily mix for light to dark hues - and Salted Caramel is beautiful for warm skin tones from a light tan, to a rich natural skin tone.The single pans have always been on the site ( stock permitting), test the sets out when you receive them, and you can add the single pans next time.
@@janedavenport i relooked on ur website. It has only the cake pan in white available singly but its not available at this time. Plz do a video when the white and all other pans are available. I want to use ur cakes in coloring books. One thing i dont understand. When the cakes dry on tbe page, they stay like watercolor right? Or do they lift and need a fixative like pastels? Im a lil confused about that
I love how these look in your art journal. How do you prevent the LC paints from having water sit too long (like overnight or after using them)? Do you use a dry brush to pick up the excess water and work that into a background or a spare page? My friend and I placed an order 2 weeks ago and ordered the Layer Cake paints! We are both so excited! (I infected her with Rainbowitis a few months ago by sending her the Whimsical and Wild Happy Hour Art Journal, Mermaid Markers, Magic Wands, and the Storytime Paint pens. I know who the girls in the orange sweaters are! They are students at Clemson University in South Carolina. (except it rarely gets cold enough in Clemson to wear something like that to a football game!)

If you were to add some water on top of dried layer cake paint on paper, would it react?

At the beginning, the paints look wet or oily, is that the way they normally look or you had added water to the pans?

Do they reactivate with water at all, or do they become permanent? How are they different than gouache? Thanks!
Bucky Barnes they reactivate, they are creamier than gouache and in pans rather than tubes, so easier to get creative with.
