Yes human beings are weird creatures. They commit genocides; they expel millions of peoples; they steal their culture (their cuisine; their music; their garments; etc.). And after all that they themselves or others who accept these acts come to patronise the victim and tell them what responses are 'good' responses and what aren't. Thanks for the examples of 'positive responses' you gave; all of them don't suit what I feel toward's this thing. @@Yammaensemble
And no I don't like the cross-cultural collaboration. Because it doesn't happen in a vacuum. There's a context where all this happens; it is a political context. I would sing an Italian song in an Arabic way, and this is kind of a cross-cultural bla bla that you just mentioned; but this? No it's not simply cross-cultural bla bla bla.. it's something that happens in a very specific political context and dynamics of power between two people/races, where one people has access to wealth, education, musical instruments, knowledge, freedom of movement, etc. etc. and the other does not.
And finally: No my friend it's not enough to put the name of the song writer/composer/singer, especially that you already write 'Jewish and Hebrew music' as a general description. Now let me tell you what you *should* do. We need to see the word 'Arabic' and/or 'Lebanese' there. It cannot, just cannot, be only 'Jewish and Hebrew'. Otherwise you seem to be so amazing, universalist and internationalist when it come to other people's cultures, but so nationalist when it comes to (what you claim is) your culture! (In that case this is also not so surprising. This has been a typical attitude in of white colonial projects, from 'the new world' encounters to later 19th century European colonialism in Africa and Asia).
Just as we assumed - a strong smell of antisemitism and hatred comes from your comments. Sorry, we choose in this life to focus on art and music rather then political discussions. You might want to visit other and channels and bring there your 'unique' energy. You started with a comment that referred to the music, the credits, but it was clear to us that you are charged with lots of anger and political blind hatred. you mean barbat? Yeah it's probably older than oud but I'm not 100% sure.

The oud is stringed musical instrument prominent in medieval and modern Islamic music.
