I know I'm late but, thanks for the video! A few years ago, a friend of my dad, from Taiwan, gifted my mom a set of these tea pots, but since we are Mexican she never learned to use them, I remembered she had these and actually found them so now I'm trying to properly use them ^^
I found myself coming back to this video after purchasing my first yixing teapot to relearn how to properly season it and i was wondering if you have a more indepth video on caring for your teapot?
Very informative video, love it! Quick question, what's the proper way of cleaning the tea pots? Is it ok to use normal dishwashing liquids? Thanks in advance.
many times I saw images of different tea pot shapes that should go with a certain type of tea (like flat ones should be used for puer, the very round ones for black/red teas, etc. It seems very complex. Would be fun to have your take on this deeper knowledge. What do you think, does it really matter? Will the difference be major?
Ton anglais est fantastique! C'est moi désolé pour ma français. Nous avons des théière ici. zhentea.ca/shop/tea-accessories/clayteapots/ À part cela, choisissez un fournisseur en qui vous avez confiance.
How do I determine whether the clay teapot is real or not? Is the surface supposed to be rough or smooth? Also it would be hard to tell whether it has been dyed with colour since I don't think the teaware store would allow us to test it.
This is a really good question! However, it's also a question that is hard to answer in a few words, smooth or rough won't help you decide and there's no simple test we can perform at stores. The best way for a consumer to find a real Yixing clay teapot is to buy it from a trusted source. They are not rare, so it won't be hard to come across a real one.
Can you reset a used yixing teapot? I have been given one from my friend, i am just keen to know if it’s worth it or should i just a new one? Any help pls
Great question! Unless there's obvious reason that this teapot is not suitable for tea brewing anymore, I would go ahead and try it out. And see how you feel 😁. But if you'd like to try a reset, feel free to use the "opening" method mentioned in the video. Depends on the teapot's situation, it might or might not be a successful reset. I'll have a Q&A video about teapot coming out soon, and I'll explain more in depth in the video.
It's "recommended" but certainly not devastating if it's not done. It's more important (and much trickier) to consistently care for the pot to develop the patina. 🫖
Thank you for the great info! I made the mistake of buying a light color yixing teapot as my first and used to brew all kinds of tea in it. Is it possible to season it for one type of tea now or is it ruined?
Great question! As long as the teapot doesn't affect the taste of the tea much, I wouldn't even call it "ruined" 😁. But if you'd like to reset, feel free to try using the "opening" method mentioned in the video. Depends on the teapot's situation, it might or might not be a succesful reset. I'll have a Q&A video about teapot coming out soon, and I'll explain more in depth in the video.
is it normal that the insides of the teapot are really rough? it even leave some really fine residue when i chip it with my finger nail...someone please advise
This is a really personal choice. Once you've considers the tips on the video it's really how you feel about the tea and the pot. Oolong, black and dark tea are the ones we prefer in yixing. If you happen to use Instagram we'd love to see your teapot (we are a little bit addicted 😉).
Hi! Great video with good information. I just seasoned my clay pot but with green tea. I didn’t know it was not recommended for this kind of tea. Could I re season it with another kind of tea? Should I just leave it with green and see what happens? What type of pot should I use for green tea? Maybe a gaywan? Thank you for your videos I love your channel!
Hi Ricardo, you can go either way with the teapot, it's really up to you. But if you want to re-season it, that's totally doable. As long as you're enjoying your tea! Thanks for the kind words!
I bought a Kung fu portable tea set made from old rock clay, but now have a tea drip stain on down the spout of the tea pot and have tried scrubbing it without damaging it but the stain isn’t lifting any recommendations? The items are only hand wash.
Yes, we ship to California and all of the USA (and internationally too). Our prices are in both USD and CAD (EUR and GBP too), there's a currency selector at the top of the web page, but it's supposed to automatically switch based on your location. I hope that helps and happy sipping!
Sorry, not necessary to use Yixing clay. I get my nice Clay Teapots from Taiwanese potters, no cheating and not crazy prices.. Just my personal experience since 16 years
It’s not real zisha, if people want zisha, they want it. Most people on the market (Chinese) are more willing to bay big bucks, because they focus on the art itself, rather than the effects on tea.
I know I'm late but, thanks for the video!

So glad the video was helpful, stay tuned for Yixing care 201 🫖❤️
Very helpful information thank you for sharing ❤. Now I just need to find one to buy as I don’t want the harmful chemicals you mentioned.
I found this video and explanation about tea pots extremely interesting and informative.
This was delightful and informative. Thank you!
I enjoyed your presentation. ❤

We don't recommend using dish soap or any cleaning agent for a clay teapot Boiling water should do the job.
Yixings can be quite confusing, thanks for the tips!
Super informative! Thank you 😊
thank you so much that was a lot of great information for a beginner like me.
Got a teapot in Bone china...does it have to be seasoned or can straight way use it.
How can I find a 100% yixing Zisha teapot handmade ?
Great video! Very useful tips. I love your youtube channel and can't wait to taste one of yout teas!
YAY! So glad you like the channel!

One thing for sure, there won't be MAJOR difference. But we will definitely having more videos on such topic in the future.

I have only one clay teapot. I use it for Oolongs.
only dark oolongs? or also the lighter/green ones?
I use it for all Oolongs.

Put some boiling water in it for some time and it’s ok
Thank you for this video! I wanted to ask: what are the tell-tale signs of a fake yixing, compared to a real one?
Oui, je me pose aussi la même question ( same question ). Have you got a respons ?
Search “realzisha”, they provided simple pointers wit evidence to back it up.
Great question! I made a video answering your question. ua-cam.com/video/wyj416jcfGc/v-deo.html

A low risk for a little reward.

Totally agree. There's an unnecessary obsession with yixing. It's a nice option, but there are others. It's all about what work for you.
