Blue Force is another grand daddy of adjustable slings and more or less anything you're seeing on the market right now borrows heavily from either Blue Force or V-Tac both of which come from stuff Larry Vickers Or Kyle Lamb used while working with SFOD-D. Which comes from home brew stuff they used and I like to speculate that both of them came to different methods of doing the same thing. But they're both solid well established names in the industry for a reason and you can't go wrong with either or.
Watching it now! I have always appreciated your viewpoint on setting up kit. Good stuff! I shared this on my channel, trying to make ya famous with me ;)
You're such a rock star. Honestly when I saw your channel taking off so well it was a big motivation for me to get this channel dusted off and back up and running instead of being lazy. One day I'll be all growed up like you I hope. 🤣
More end user inspired products from places like the Yadkin 500, VD Drive, Ponders & Sewing shops in Virginia Beach. The salvaged/DRMO Alice rucksack strap buckle was obvious. Wish someone had made a stronger metal version of the delrin slide buckle. Lots of adult beverages were exchanged for rigger shop jobs. I started tinkering w/ slings in the early 90s after getting an SA-80 sling for two magazines in a swap. Back when mag pulls were DIY made of 100mph tape or 550 cord. One thing I haven’t seen in forever is the uber low tech white string night sights.
Man that takes me back. Do you remember the 550 cord loop trick where you'd slide the floor plate off the issued USGI magazine and look a gutted 550 cord through the hole? Then everyone figured out 100MPH tape was a bit more secure and would keep joe from snapping floor plate tabs off while modding kit at the barracks on Friday night. It's always amazing looking back at even just the short time I was in during the early 00s and teens to where things are now. The GWOT in particular really revolutionalized tactical gear for both good and bad.
@@tfirearms there was a method of tying together your M-60 w/ 550 cord & trip wire to be sure it wouldn’t fall apart. Guys often made pace cords w/ 550 cord & the rubber gaskets from the m60 fuze ignitors.
@@brianoswald1067 Man I actually got in and was one of the first dudes in my unit to get a 249 instead of the 60. One of my NCOs had been a 60 gunner and all the stuff he'd tell me that they did to keep it running was crazy.
What are your thoughts on the Blue Force Gear Vickers sling? I have been happy with mine. The webbing is very stiff though and takes a while to loosen up.
Stiff bulky webbing and the sliders not always sliding easily are my only complaints about the Blue Force sling. The Haley and TTS sling both borrow adjustment methods directly from Blue Force just with slightly different hardware and materials. Awesome video!! A very overlooked and surprisingly nuanced topic.
Thank you, I;m hoping to make this a whole series because as you aptly noted it is shockingly nuanced and for a lot of good reasons.
I love my Blue Force Vickers Padded Sling. It's simple, doesn't self adjust without me pulling on the strap, and I really do like the thicker padding.
also swapped my QDs for Uloops, great products imo

Never used the Haley Strategic, but the Blue Force has quickly become a favorite of mine.
The Haley is very similar to the Blue Force just with some newer hardware and more modern materials. But it's hard to go wrong with Blue Force either.
