I would like to see some magicians who are great in your opinion but not famous worldwide. Just some regular working magicians who are doing great magic in the real world.
what a fucking legend this guy is. i love his kind of magicians, him, brian gillis, guys who dont over-think too much, just take some workable stuff, learn it to the point of perfection, and thats it. no need for million tricks. no need for the latest most jaw dropping head exploding visual tricks. no need for fooling magicians. no need for nothing unnecessary. gutted and skinned to the bones. whats left is the raw magic. in its simplest form. sometimes you just dont need a million part dish, with soups with un.pronouncable names, asparagus and kim, fish left liver and flower leafs from the top of the mountain. sometimes, when u hungry.just a simple barbicued steak is all you need. a role model.
The interesting thing about both Gillis (RIP) and Williamson is that while they are great fun to watch, they also practice _flawless_ technique - you will never see either of them do anything suspicious. But, their magic is not great _because_ of the flawless technique, it is great because they pay attention to _every_ detail, including technique. Every detail, such as David's "what do you say while they're shuffling the cards?" here. That's how the very few who manage to do so become great.
I remember seeing David for the first time on his Penguin LIVE. He changed me as a magician from that point on and I fell in love with his work and thinking. Awesome job getting him on the channel Alex, love you both! ❤
Danny Daortiz if posible. Its great seing those "older" guys, cuz you know they have been in front of thousends of audiences. Keep up the good work Alex!
Thanks. Some of us white haired guys have a lot to offer I've got five decades and three generations before me who understood the Vaudeville principles of presentation and effect. The art will continue but the craftsmanship and pride of professional performance must be handed down personally.
David has always been one of my favorite performers! Now that he explained practicing with stuffed animals makes sense why all always thought he had good ad lib! I will start doing this.
I like how David is talking to Alex the whole time and engaging with him, while Alex spends his entire time looking into the camera, avoiding eye contact and fiddling with his cards. Dave must have wondered what he did to annoy Alex so much.
Wow, a friend just linked me David Williamson's performance @ Google because his torn and restored was very similar to how I do mine. And now Alex Pandrea has David drop bombs of knowledge on us. David Williamson has been extremely informative and inspirational these past few days. I'm only sad I didn't get to know of him sooner!
Such a great post. Ive heard his name(Davids) so often, but never seen any of his work unless its being done by others. Thanks Alex for bringing this enlightenment about! Smilesotheylikeyou
David is one of the 'elite' magicians who hold the respect of literally everyone who knows anything about magic , his sleights are about as good as its possible to get , also when working with mirrors i had that blink at the time id do the 'move' almost like my eyes didnt want to see me do it and id try to subconciously fool myself thank god somebody like williamson also did it as i thought i was the only one lol , great viddeo alex even if im 3 yrs behind this info is gold ...because like ben earl says " Dave is the Best "
Wow, this channel is becoming one of the best in the magic world. Please try to get Bill Malone, Garrett Thomas, Jason England, Paul Wilson, David Roth, Dani DaOrtiz, Ben Earl or Juan Tamariz...I know that they are legends that probably have tight schedules, but if you can, we all would be very grateful, because they have so many stories, tips and knowledge that can help all of us to be better. This is the kind of magic content that we need.
I've been binging videos from you, Xavior, Spidey, Eric Leclerc, Chris, et. al for the last few weeks. This is my favorite of the bunch so far. What invaluable insight from a living legend. More of this, please! Maybe even video-conference interviews for now?
One of the best magicians and comedians is David Williamson , his performances are very amazing and very inteligently intersting and funniest , every show is a new story and lot and lot of fun and just brillianted thought he put in it even if the trick was so simple, he bring it to the highest quality of levels .
This was great. There is some really solid advice in there for practice, performance, and how to get the most out of both. Thanks Alex. Keep up the good work.
With so much tutorials over youtube, its so nice to see something different and with so much content. Your channel is awesome Alex. These kinds of videos that makes one love and respect magic. This is real knowledge! Keep up the great work!
I bought "Sleight of Dave" when it first came out. It's the main reason I'm a magician today. Thanks for having him on your vid. Get Chipper Lowell If you can. Great comedy magic.
First, thanks to David. Alex, you have hit gold with this interview. Knowledge speaks but Wisdom listens. (J. Hendrix) Knowledge already abounds on youtube. Us white heads have so much wisdom to offer. This type of interview makes the wisdom available to all. As said earlier how do you share 50 years of experience?
Well it is always good for us to have a point of vue from a different magician, there is advice that I never thought of so thank you for all this advices :D
A bit off subject but still a good question. UA-cam is one to many based presentation. What forum offers many to many presentation. Such as a meet and greet, but online.
Love David , such a great performer and connoiseur of sleight of hand and magic theory. Who will I like you to invite? , I’ll say Bebel or Jean Pierre Vallarino will be awesome.
In my opinion it's quite ironic that amongst other things the increasing trend of doing magic solely or primarily for the camera / YT has led to so much focus on the trick itself (because you have no real interaction with a live audience) that people have never learned or de-learned all the presentational skills and aspects Mr. Williamson is talking about. That's a reason why you see so many magicians doing not much more than the "wanna see a trick" "i'm gonna" "would you be amazed" "watch" *fingersnap" style of presentation which really isn't a real style in the first place. The irony for me is that it's the same kind of these magicians that keep on talking about the "art" of magic, yet are totally unskilled or untrained or even unwilling when it comes to presentation and actually entertaining a live crowd.
David Williamson is one of my favorites, hands down! Let me know below who ELSE you want to see on this channel.
Alex Pandrea , Daniel Garcia

great comment Igor! too much unnecessary everything nowadays

I've got five decades and three generations before me who understood the Vaudeville principles of presentation and effect. The art will continue but the craftsmanship and pride of professional performance must be handed down personally.
So true!
David has always been one of my favorite performers! Now that he explained practicing with stuffed animals makes sense why all always thought he had good ad lib! I will start doing this.
Wooo...Excellent tips on the classic force and the version of slip force that he showed was a shear brilliance....
Yeah that slip force is gonna be what i do from this minute!!!
I like how David is talking to Alex the whole time and engaging with him, while Alex spends his entire time looking into the camera, avoiding eye contact and fiddling with his cards. Dave must have wondered what he did to annoy Alex so much.

Thank you very much for the upload. It's always refreshing to listen to THE MASTER :)

beatz04 so well said.

thanks for this comment! people need to find their style and the only way to do this is by performing and seeing what works and what doesn't for you.
100% on the mark observation.
You nailed it there!
