    Great to see you having fun with the 22. It's inspired me to smash a few much longer distances with my 17hmr :)

    This whole series have been very interesting thanks. 400 meters is a long way for .22LR but nothing very challenging for most centre fires.

      Glad you liked it, it was just a bit of fun for when i wasn't reviewing other rifles and thought I'd try and encourage people to stretch their limits, warts and all.

    Great video! I have a lot of experience with this sort of ELR thing, but with even less "energy" - I mean PCPs and spring air rifles. Specifically, the most demanding ELR required about 28 MRAD of elevation in both cases, from a 5 FPE (100 meters) springer to a 35 FPE (305 meters) PCP rifle. The best groups I had with the 5 FPE at 100m were around 70mm (JSB Heavy 10,34 gr). At 305m with the 25 grain H&N slug projectile I had consistent groups of around 15-17cm. But, for such a thing, the wind must be ZERO or almost ZERO. In that case, with the .22 LR you could "stretch out" to 500+ meters. 💪😎

    Surprising how quick a 22 lr bullet covers the 400m with its house brick BC.

      It seems like forever when you are waiting for it to get there but to be fair with the trigger cam on, you cant get the resolution real-time to see strike and it's only just audible

    The one and only time I commented after following you for years, you told me if I dont like it move on, so asking for comments or criticism is somewhat ironic

    good morning and congratulations for the channel I would like your consideration, in your opinion within what range of distance can you make a hunting shot with this weapon (it's the same one I have except that I have mounted a Konus FFP scope) and have a high percentage of success on the target, I am very happy with the standard SK cartridges and practice hunting pests, rabbits, coypu and crows! Sorry for the inconvenience and keep it up. CONGRATULATIONS

      My longest ever clean despatch with a 22 rimfire was 142 yards on a Rabbit but I rarely chance shots like that as the opportunity to miss or wound is significant unless the circumstances really favour you. in terms of larger quarry, bear in mind muzzle energy at range as well as a clean strike.

    Could you do the same without all fancy tech?

    • @callahan1971
      @callahan1971 2 місяці тому +4

      What fancy tech? A scope and something to tell you how much the bullet is going to drop? Hardly cutting edge. Do you want him to do it with iron sights and just guess?

    • @chrisparkin431
      @chrisparkin431  2 місяці тому +2

      Thank you for backing me up, You are right, if anything the trigger cam makes it more difficult as it decreases image clarity and you CANNOT SEE your own bullet splash real-time. The kestrel was only generating a drop figure the same as many apps would and measuring the wind is virtually pointless from just the firing point with a cartridge so prone to drift at that range but 'keyboard warriors' will always be the loudest.

    • @gushlergushler
      @gushlergushler 2 місяці тому +1

      @@chrisparkin431 And you dont even need a kestrel really, a cheap 20 quid windmeter plus an app on your phone will get you there, not as exact and not as comfortable but basically it does the same thing.
