I think it's mostly a military thing

When aiming, you hold the gun in a way that, as a byproduct, prevents you from seeing the side you would normally face your watch.
Imagine as if you were holding a gun and you'll see how inverting the watch makes it actually visible

@@Carmen.2001When you aim with a gun, your left hand's palm holds it from below, meaning that the palm faces up. That's why it is inverted, because if you didn't flip the watch, the watch would face the wrong direction
