  • In this video Simon and his dad add a Zimo sound decoder to Simon's model class 70 diesel locomotive.
The sounds are from YouChoos and the decoder is a Zimo MS440C
We had a lot of fun working on this project together.
Have you added sounds to any of your locos? Let us know in the comments.
We hope you enjoy our video.

Belated Happy Birthday Simon. That's VERY LOUD.

Haha! Yes. There was so much space for a speaker that we put a massive one in and it is pretty loud. You can adjust the volume in the chip settings, so we may need to dial that one back a bit at some point!

It’s fine really, though if we had several running at once it might get a bit much.

Great job putting the sound speaker in Simon, and by the way happy birthday.
The class 70 diesel must be a wonderful birthday present and addition to your train shed.
I never done this sort of job before let alone put a DCC decoder in a locomotive before, but I would certainly give it a go.
I really enjoyed the train show at Sandown last week, I even bought a new locomotive. The world's fastest steam locomotive Mallard in BR green livery as it was back in 1963 and it is DCC fitted too!
Is there a video where you insert a DCC decoder into a locomotive?
Keep you steam up Simon, good on you mate.
    Take care
    Kevig

Thanks for watching Kevig and congratulations on getting a BR green Mallard! What a great loco. Is it a Hornby one?
Here's a video of us fitting a (non sound) DCC decoder into our M7 tank engine. ua-cam.com/video/Cp9qyNk_8Js/v-deo.html
We'd like to fit sound to all our locos eventually, but the smaller tank engines are very tight on space and it was difficult enough just fitting the decoder in, let alone finding a space for the speaker as well!

Yes, my Mallard loco is indeed a hornby model. And thanks for the tip.
      Cheers
