I had my money on him. smh, Now I don't think he would have. I question his injury in this race

Matherson was about to go in is top speed and then he feel something

It's easy to say he would have since
      1. He didnt finish the race.
      2. He started moving into his top end earlier than the others.
But a simple argument against this belief is that Wilson was behind both Matherson and Robertson, and Wilson's top end took him past the Robertson. In fact he was farther behind the JC athlete than KC. Who's to say he wouldn't have won regardless?

Unfortunately, we've said the same thing for so many athletes, and they faded away when it came to the senior level😕

@@barcoxx Overworked how? People who make these statements even know what that term means in track...? If you want to know what overworked means, look at USA's college track program. Training morning and evening. Track meets EVERY weekend (and you have to run them). Competition literally the whole year (indoor then outdoor).
At Calabar, training is once a day (after school), and the better athletes rarely run development meets during the competitive season. At champs it's just double singles and a relay if you're that good. One days training is literally more exhausting than running a few rounds at champs.
Being fast in high school doesn't equate to being fast in the seniors. An athlete failing to move through can't be evaluated to being "overworked".

@@theren8311 Which Professional Track athlete runs four events at any meet?

    • @theren8311
      @theren8311 2 роки тому

@@barcoxx Jesse Owens, Carl Lewis, Usain Bolt, Alyson Felix to name a few. Pretty much any outstanding pro athlete of their generation do double single events + a relay. So 3 (which includes 2-3 rounds for each single event). Felix did 4 as well (200, 400, 4x1, 4x4).
Once a generation you have that athlete that goes for 4. Decathletes & Heptathletes who do ten/seven events plus 3 rounds for each field event. But that's besides the point.
The point is, a single championship doesn't make an athlete "overworked". That barely compares to what training per week is like. Being overworked is something that happens over an extended period. Hence why I mentioned USA's collegiate program where they have to compete year round, every weekend.
To digress, you can't compare high school championships to Worlds and Olympics. For one, athletes aren't competing to earn points for their country to win anything. They are competing to earn single medals for themselves. The approach is different. At high school championships around the world, athletes are re-used across events to maximize points for their institution. Even at the collegiate level. If an athlete can do the double...they will **have to**. Once they show the potential, that's it, unless the team has enough depth.
At the pro level, athletes tend to focus on their stronger events for this very reason. It's about them at this point, and not an institution or country.

Oh yeah since as the year is about to finish and our beloved track and field champs will soon return may I just say that God's willing and staying fit that Sachin Dennis will be the new class 1 champion .

It looks like all the Calabar runners are still competing for Calabar. If so I don't see him beating them.

Maybe maybe not but Michael Stephen's isn't as confident as he was and it's less likely to even see Dejour running the 100 seeing as he's more focused on hurdles. Trust me I wouldn't be making this statement if I didn't watch that race where Taylor equalled Yohan Blake's NJR . That race though he pulled up clearly led for half the race till he got cramps . Stephens still has that thigh injury and knowing his start isn't on any level of Dennis he could be playing catch
Dennis isn't expected to win which may play in his favour

    • @Trackguy

I hear yo. Tyreke usually starts better than his 10.21 though. Stephens has a 10.22 with less wind in the u20 semis. Dejour may or may not run the 100 idk, but he can match up (excluding his start). Taylor's still there 2, maybe he'll do the 1&2 to save up for Qatar (idk). Ryiem Robertson(10.28) is someone to mention. Sachin is quick, but lacks top end (that's why he isn't better in the 200). I'm excited to see. Do you think the class 1 record will go? I think Terrique can take down the class 2 record.
