I've heard that it was originally going to be gay but the producers or whatever said no and the male love interest (the coach) was added/played up fairly late in the process of making it.
So the two girls are supposed to be "just good friends", but maybe still played their characters as gay/a couple cause that had been the original plan?
They go off to America together and Joe is supposed to be going too/still there as a love interest, but I feel like if you remove his tacked on subplot and presence, this movie can be the lesbian classic it was supposed to be--thanks for doing this!
I think I basically learned about the concept of lesbianism from this movie.
Actually, according to the interview given by Gurinder Chadha, it was supposed to be a same-sex story between those two female leads. But they altered the script as they feared they will receive a lot of backlash from India at that time. If it is made now, Indians will be more accepting of this.
I addressed this rumor in my follow up video! There wasn't much evidence of that unfortunately
This felt like a (mostly) silent version of the best moments of this movie, that i haven't seen.

It's worse because one of the primary misunderstandings is that they're lesbians because one of them has short hair. And also because of the love triangle. They get into trouble twice over "confusion" regarding them being together in some way.
jules and jess started dating after the events of the movie, nothing can change my mind

also, to be honest, Jules' mom reacting like that about the mere INSINUATION of her daughter being a lesbian probably was kinda damaging to my lil lesbian heart tho... Like, that whole interaction with the mom stuck more to me than the actual neat gay scenes.. which is tragic.

Knightley is a MTF transgender, like the greater percentage of those in the industry, though only a small percentage are chosen to be exposed as such. She is not. Not yet anyhow, but all things in their appointed time. There are MANY REASONS these celebrities have their gender changed as infant’s, when they can’t object if they’d wish to, & whose parents are either celebrities, high ranking gvt/ political figures, & Nobility. The 1 that stands out the mot is the TRILLIONS of dollars spent by their adoring fans each year on as many plastic/cosmetic surgeries & procedures as the actors they idolize, mansions, high fashion, designer purses/luggage sets, expensive fragrances, travel, purebred pets, & everything they see celebrities & influencers have & do, in order to maintain a similar lifestyle-No matter the amount of work, nor level of sacrifice required to make it possible! And so much more! The most notoriously known-famous & wealthy as a result, w/out having a shred of talent among them are the Kardashians! I’ve absolutely not a bit of respect for that entire family combined, including their half & step siblings, spouses, & in laws. But they get the job done off the sweat off the backs of child laborers in third world countries, w/ their most INFERIOR product lines & pushing of the agendas instructed by the powers that be & their master.
