There are so many little improvements like those slippery ropes that really help to showcase how much of a difference thoughtful level and game design makes.
In Japanese salaryman culture, earning a bonus is a major goal. Not talking about the game, talking about real life. So that's the joke at the end of the world.
Ninji after years of being treated obscurely finally lost it. He murdered lakitu, stole his cloud and to this day rains flaming hatred onto his enemies 😆
Wow, a normal rom hack! Not one for "advanced" players, and not a "puzzle" rom hack! This one was really pleasant to watch, and I didn't have any 2nd hand anxiety from watching this one. 😉
Two things: - the castle wall and bridge tiles are from _Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap_ for the Sega Master System - the underground music is a remix of the melody of the underground music from _Super Mario Bros. 2_
That thing looks alot like a "sneeze" from Puff The Magic Dragon, but not the same. It also looks like Crowander's mascot, but not the same. I think I do recognize it, but I cannot think of what it's from (probably a video game, I suppose).
It's not Q-Bert. Q-Bert's nose/mouth is a tube, kinda like Gonzo, but it's both his nose and mouth, and it's open at the end like a tube, and not curved down.
Nice hack, mario must be really wealthy from those bonuses if he can afford to use coins as fire power 💸 The q*bert and metroid sprite were also very fun to see.
The "Qberts" are from fantasy zone! Glad you loved my hack, I enjoy making them.
Feels like throwing coins should cost coins
I was thinking the exact same thing
Same
haha, that would be awesome
no no no they're cardboard coins with fire balls behind them
This is probably one of the best smb1 rom hacks I've seen

Instructios unclear: I am currently standing in my kitchen in a Mario Costume covered in peanut butter and celery.
Just wait and maybe your princess takes care of your nutbutter eventually.
"Salary", not "celery"!
@@codahighland they both rhyme ok
@@codahighland Ohhhh...
@@codahighland Also, how would he be covered in salary? You'd need to earn a fortune for that.
Pretty sure the "you earned a bonus" ending was a reference to takeshi's challenge, another game, the toad looked like the boss from that game
The free-moving firebars are awesome. I think trying to outrun them is a legit strategy.
You’re the Bob Ross of SMB playthrough.

The ability to turn while in the air is called 'pivoting' in business speak - an important trait in any aspiring manager.
Up next: Gig Economy Mario, where every world is just 1 level long, but you have to play 5 in a row to break even...
The rare hack with both innovative mechanics AND level design tailored to the updated mechanics.

Seems more like a demix of the smb2 underground music.
@@nakano15 A same-medium demix? Interesting notion. But anyway, you’ll note I said it’s a remix of just the _melody_
This is honestly award worthy. Well done, creator.
6:29 I dunno, that enemy reminded me of Beanie from Mario and Luigi: Superstar saga game which is about Beanbean Kingdom.
Omg, you didn't kick a single shell against the Lakitu fire balls!
15:01 A lesson learned too late! XD
Well, glad Mario can eat again, as he saved his boss from the anti-worker Bowser!
Those QBerts are actually from Fantasy Zone, a great Sega Shooter.
That green Q*Bert looking dude is actually from the arcade game Fantasy Zone
I thought I recognized it. Yeah when chat just spitting out Q*bert, I was like "you gotta be killing me"
Wow what a well done hack, props to the creator and Kosmic of course
Why am I laughing every single time I hear that custom death sound (especially when I see Mario’s death sprite) lmao
Those alive firebars did remind my parents going after me when I did childhood mischiefs 😅
Those free-floating fire-coin-bars were pretty scary. Reminiscent of the feeling I get from the stix in Qix.
Romhack Wednesdays returns! This always makes my week.
I love the Goombas with their gangster hats.
I would really like to see a freerun of 4-4, that would be so cool because fire bar "skips" should be a lot easier due to them moving
The “toads” At the end of the level are sprites from Takeshi’s Challenge. What a wild game that is…
Round frogge
Another quality hack from Polaira Poyon! Lots of fun little things in there
12:57 this is priceless🤣🤣🤣
03:12 A metaphor about the consequences of greed
New Mario Enemy
N.M.E
New Mario N.M.E.
I love how the metroid came out of nowhere
The flying fish I'm pretty sure are from Alex Kidd in Miracle World (also the spikes?) - also the cobbled stone floor texture

Mario's boss is Salaryman from Takeshi no Chousenjou.
Those coin bars sick.
15:23 magic hammer
The overworld theme seems like that theme music from caribean pirates movie.
Love the lava in the castle levels, it looks like a pool of wine. 😝
19:10 what a twist!
Image if the ending says "YOU HAVE EARNED A BONUS... WORLD!"
The Baby doesn't care much for Mr. M. 😆
It's not Q-Bert. Q-Bert's nose/mouth is a tube, kinda like Gonzo, but it's both his nose and mouth, and it's open at the end like a tube, and not curved down.
> sees random Fantasy Zone enemy
ok lol
i remember i made a firebar and rotodisk like that before (on smbx)
Nice hack, mario must be really wealthy from those bonuses if he can afford to use coins as fire power 💸 The q*bert and metroid sprite were also very fun to see.
Those permanent flames thrown by "Ninjakitu" actually appear in the Level Headed random. They're pretty annoying.
I just realized the cloud and bushes aren’t the same
So Mario is gonna pay his taxes?
Idk
7:23 I thought SMB1 was a "solved" game by now. More importantly it's the one who supposedly knows everything in SMB1&2J that's asking.
Pretty cool wonder flower in 4-4
Hey the underground theme is a remix of the smb2 underground theme
I'm seeing sprites ripped from Wonderboy in Monsterland as well.
The music kind of makes me think of one part of the Pirates of the Carribean theme skipping on a CD.
Yeah I definitely thought it was going to be Pirates when i first heard it haha
That enemy sprite didn't look quite like Q*bert. Makes me wonder where it's truly from.
Fire bars shouldn’t be living objects
Super Mario Stonks
Hey, I think those snakes are from "Golvelius". 😁
Actually, a LOT of the sprites are from Golvellius. 💪😎✌️
Polaria hacks are hype
Nah, unless I'm up for some guessing game on which block to jump and which to avoid, that doesn't really feel like a proper romhack to me.
@Kosmic_Speedrun they are not from qbert, they are from fantasy land
Can you kill a fire with a kupa shell?
Nice URL..."JumB0"
hi
You died in 1-1?
