About the asexual in a long distance relationship: Sometimes, you might just want to hold them. Or cook for them, idk. You also clearly understand this yourself because of everything you said about Sam moving away. Sex isn't the only reason to want someone you love in close proximity.
And not all physical intimacy needs to be sex. Cuddling, holding each other, literally sleeping together. There’s physical parts to having a partner that aren’t just sex.
At 45:21 (I listened earlier) when Ali says “yes Sir” - I assume that was in response to Alex sticking his hand up for permission to speak - that was my biggest laugh of the episode lmao. Like there’s just so much top energy in the room it’s just like ricocheting off the walls that he’s just like “would it be okay if I? 🙋no worries if not though…” 😂
I HAVE THE EXACT OPPOSITE OPINION ON GOSSIPING OMGGG 😂 Its akin to wage transparency. An environment hostile to gossiping is an environment that lets abuse thrive.
Idk I'm in between on this - imo theres a difference between gossip and honest, direct communication, which is where the line is. Like if I know one of my coworkers never cleans up when they close shop and they don't respond to feedback about it, I'll tell anyone and everyone about it idc 😅 but if I hear something unsubstantiated or frivolous I'm not about to spread it around
I agree about using the past as an excuse. My ex was verbally abusive and in her therapy would only talk about what happened when she was young versus what's happening now with her and I. What happened when she was young was more important than her working on figuring out our issues. Nor would she go to therapy together. It was frustrating.
You don't have to stick around to help people work through their trauma, but the past absolutely does impact the present. And "generational trauma" accumulates.
@liisadebruin C-PTSD person here. I agree with you in spirit, but some people really do use it as an excuse instead of working on living in the present and figuring out that reacting based on past hurt still hurts other people who aren't doing anything wrong to you.
BTW Ashley you are right with the first commandment implying the existence of other gods, and that's because judaism originates from polytheistic religion and Yahweh wasn't even the main god in their pantheon
Not the Chelsea jimmy convo resurfacing 😭😭 the girl said she only looked like megan fox only in the eyes and nothing else. She said that outloud and was still berated by society incessantly... :((
Ali - on the topic of generational trauma, you should take a look at the emerging field of epigenetics. Also this idea of a "Victimhood Mentality" is honestly a degrading and unreasonable accusation in almost all cases. A person being aware of systemic and cultural injustices - and the ramifications of those injustices - does not make that person a "victim". Awareness of those injustices gives us the ability to make tangible change both locally and systemically. Victimhood mentality is also a pretty common dogwhistle in right wing circles
In the first chapter of the Torah, the grammar used also suggests that there are other gods, but that this is Our God and part of the shtick is forsaking any other ones. But it's really subtle and very much glossed over.
This was a rollercoaster 😂 Too bad someone didn't mention that different religions have slightly different orders to the 10 commandments so we could have gotten discourse on the order switches.
Looking at that statistics graph was so funny. North Dakota: "loud wet s3x", South Dakota: "shower sex". Those dakotans really like their moisture. "s3x doll" for Alaska made sense I guess because it's remote.
Ah, my special interest. Ash talking about the "one god" thing. The ibrahimic God (christianity, judaism, islam) was originally known as Yahweh and he was one god from a pantheon that existed at the time. IIRC he was a god of war and thunder. So when the 10 commandments are saying "no other gods but me" it is being totally literal and prescriptive.
With regard to the no other gods - in that area (and others) it wasn’t uncommon for there to be pantheons or a “Divine Council” (a collection of gods, where different gods have different roles). You’ll see other references to this in the Bible… it’s been a while since I’ve looked at this stuff, but an example is in Job, where God is kind of going back and forth with Satan (or The Satan), but they are both part of this divine council (or something to that effect. It’s been a long time, so don’t quote me 100%). But yeah. All that to say, Monotheism was actually the outlier for that area and time, so that’s why there are references to there being other gods, because the people of the area and time would know of the others.
You guys, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 Yahuah is the creator of all and his people are the tribes of Israel with gentile converts in the mix. Gentile nations - every nation outside of Israel - worships other gods. It could be true that the fallen angels became or influenced the creation of the other gods. Whatever happened, happened for a reason, time, and place. There’s a lot to understand but the key for everyone is Yahuah Yahusha. 🤍
Also, the ‘do not commit adultery’ commandment could be about being loyal and monogamous to Yah and not to other gods…rather than speaking of an earthly marriage or maybe it pertains to both, I don’t know, but scripture does say marriage won’t be a thing in heaven
Im obsessed with the ashley ali alex show. The Triple A battery show
Nice. You're definitely right.🐎🦦🐺
when I see kolbert, I know it’s going to be another banger

I certainly did not expect to witness a discussion of the 10 commandments this afternoon …

I listened to this in car today, but comment for the algorithm.
Utah being "mormon" is so funny though

Not the bottom lower society of face 😂😂
This was a rollercoaster 😂

They didn't even know them all, they probably don't know that either.
Also thank you for that info, I'm ganna look into that now lol

Absolutely lost it at "ranch dressing porn"

I'd like to see the stats on how much "npc porn" went up the day after this video released. Because I'm honestly curious myself.
❤
When are you coming to Pittsburgh?! And don’t say sign up for shit cause I fucking am! I can’t find anything about tickets.
who's the UNM alum?
Hilariouss
I love the Jewish episodes
Hunh, look at that
First?
This episode is super fun, but as a Jew, there are a few jokes that are like... Kind of uncomfortable :)
Apologies. If it helps Ali is also Jewish
There are clearly other gods in the Bible. Also, the ten commandments are enumerated differently in different religions.
Bestiality is prohibited when Noah restarted humanity.
loved the episode. u make me gay & wish that i were actually.
😎😃😊😜😍😘💖🌹
Dude. Have y'all watched The Man with 1000 Children?? Scary, twisted psycho sperm donor story.
Parasocial comment for the algorithme
