So, you don't want to caravan with me? LMAO! Okay, so I am autistic which means I have to have a schedule and I can't bend that. I am also ADHD, which means I can lose myself and forget where I left me! Road tripping with me is a serious trip! I also smuggle my dog into restaurants! Don't shame me, I have to! LMAO!
Great break in comments about accidents in and around intersections and speaking from your experiences as ER nurse and paramedic! Thank you for putting that in the video. Did not kill the vibe!! Gave great information and very appreciated on this end! :)
Cannot agree with you more, number one trauma related ER visit is vehicular accident. I am glad another ER nurse is spreading the word about safety. Love the message, Stay safe in your travels!
We did our first caravan last Summer. It is a different monster. You really want to make sure that your not just friends but compatible. Our caravan was fortunately people who were a lot like us, up early, ready to go, help each other…. Our 2nd day was a real blessing. Our Travel Trailer blew the driver rear tire. With our friends behind us, they quickly called and we pulled over within 30 seconds of the blow out. No damage to the rig. Michigan Travel Assist actually came upon us within 5 minutes of the blow out and he changed the tire. It was a blessing. With that being said, something we learned is, when you get new tires, make sure they put high pressure valves in. While our tires only called for 65 pds. That was enough to blow the TPMS off the end. So I am curious about your TPMS you are trying. A week later, the weight of the TPMS caused the rubber on the valve stem to leak. Again, on the side of the road we are changing a tire again. We found a great Wal Mart that changed all of the valve stems to high pressure for $2 a tire. Keep the vid’s coming. Love them and love you both…oh and Dexter.
Good thing I don’t have kids… I remember a video of this kid who was on a car trip and he was crying because they wouldn’t stop and his parents made him wear and use one of his younger siblings or something’s pull ups and he was all sad because he lost the battle and peed it… I wonder if I would be that parent after having to stop a hundred times for bathroom breaks and getting nowhere 🤦♂️
Our kids thought we needed to stop at every rest stop. Now I need to stop at every rest stop. 😂I would never make my kid, my mother, my husband, or me sit in a car so long that they would wet themselves! My husband has tried. It didn’t go well for him. We always stop to eat and stretch our legs. Life is too short to be in a hurry!!!
Looking forward to the caravan adventures. FYI - I used to be a driver for internationally known transpo company. My manager one time told me that about 80% of accidents from company drivers were due to backing up.
You picked a great time to come visit Arizona. Wildflowers are blooming and the weather is beautiful. Hope the rest of your journey goes smoothly and if you need anything while you’re in Arizona I’d be happy to help.
Another great episode. I agree slow and steady my rig is 39 feet it’s crazy these big toy hullers pass me doing 80. Arrive alive and enjoy the journey is the way I think. Thanks again for all your tips and information. Your great sense of humor and your fun. I travel with the cat to Rosie the bangle, a Maggie May, the cattle dog but Rosie rides free. Sometimes she’s crazy. Safe travels. Hope to meet you on the road Someday
Thank for the heartfelt friendly reminder to slow down. Your reminder came from an angel in heaven I watched this video yesterday. I was driving home from work tonight In slippery slush “wintery mix” on the expressway. Someone around the bend was facing me in my lane. I remembered what you said and slowed way down before I even saw it. I slowed down before the bend and I was able to safely go around the truck that spun out of control and was stopped in front of me seconds before I got there. The driver was standing on the guardrail trying to stay safe. Prayers to this person on the road. If I stayed at the speed I was. It could have been fatal. 😰 thank you ! Safe travels everyone ! 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
That was me and my wife at the fuel pump!! She got to meet Renee in the store. She was freaking out about it when her and i met back up in the truck lot!! That is so awesome! The two of your are when we are doing this as well. She's a Travle Nurse and we watch your videos ALL the time!!
Feeling your worries. I got to be the victim of road rage while pulling my 5th wheel through Charlotte, NC. 2 weeks ago. It scared the heck out of me. The idiot flew past me then pulled in front of me and locked his brakes! I couldn't believe it! Fortunately I was able to get locked up before hitting him at about 10 mph. What are these people thinking?? Well, hang in there and have safe travels.
Great PSA KYLE! And traveling with good peeps is the best, AS LONG AS THEY ARE GOOD PEEPS! Flexibility and a focus on fun is the key. You 2 are definitely my favorite RV channel, KYD has fallen into 2nd place :/ sorry Mark and Trish, still love ya lots. :) Love Chad/Tara, John/Mercedes also. Y'all move over for the young bloods from up north, lol.
Just wanted to say how much I am enjoying your videos. They are fun and very helpful to us being first time RV owners! We are from central Florida so your adventures in Florida have been fun! Safe travels to the West!
Great video! We use an older GoPro as our dash cam, and it really is a great piece of mind to have in case things go south, ya know? Watch out for those Louisiana interstates as you go west! Godspeed and God bless you both, love your humor and outlook on life. See you in our travels sometime...
Hey guys! Arizona Chris here. What you said about your driving habits is 100% agreed! Even slower when necessary in many situations I've experienced so far. In the Sedona area with the 75MPH posting I was at around 35 at times with the wonderful Arizona roadways/potholes! I always do speed limits on roadways, oppose to the highways especially when the curves/turns slow the limit speed. The non-roadrage attitude is what driving is all about with the mentality of people in society today and, like you said, no need to cause panic and have someone do a stupid action in front of us driving with the length we're pulling, Guys.... Be safe. Be happy. But most of all,,,, Live life to the fullest and funnest you can, After all... It's the only chance we get!!
Oh those FL drivers! We were at Alafia River State Park a week ago. Great campground and great weather. We agree with your logic, slow and steady wins the day. Safe travels!
Hello 👋 Tina and Matt here 😉We are beginning our RV life! Today we are picking up & remodeling a 30ft. Salem RV . We LOVE your videos, and hope to see you on our adventure! #ThanksHanks 😉
Great informational video today Hanks!! Karl/Kyle, totally agree with the ‘slow down’ and be prepared chat. As much as we are alway excited and can’t wait to start vacation…it starts the moment we hook up our 5th wheel. We’ll get there when we get there. Nene, love the tip about dumping the gray tank!!! Dexter, relax buddy! 😂 Thanks Hanks!! Safe travels and enjoy your adventures ❤
Hank You are giving very very good advice. Especially for me. I needed what you said. Thank you so much. We are getting ready to go from Ocala to Tenn on a 2 week trip so I will heed your advice. Thanks Hanks.
Fun video!! I live in the central time zone part of Florida off I10….. a lot of people don’t realize that part of the panhandle of Florida just west of Tallahassee is central
Couldn’t agree more - Florida is a loooooooong state! 🤪 when driving from Michigan we’re always so excited to get to the Florida state line, only to realize we still have another eight hours to go to our final destination…….. 😳😜🤣 Great tips on being safe! Slow and Steady wins the race. 😉
Totally agree with you, we drive our rig at 62 to 65 mph , no need to go faster, last month we ran across the country from Alabama to British Columbia in 9 days, 8 nights on the road. We plan to go back to Alabama in April, but taking our time to enjoy, at least 4 weeks! Have a safe trip 👍
For safety a recommend this read: we have to share the roads and it’s important for safety to be curious. I found this article to be educational. I’m not busting chops. As a truck driver; it’s important to educate ourselves on the safety of the motoring public. Stay safe and have fun! Btw Florida is known for distracted driving. Liked the part where you point out the intersection hazzards so true. Especially on motorcycles and when in tow. Most (4wheeler) don’t understand it takes us longer to break when towing. They get aggravated and start making deadly decisions. Again Be safe and have fun!
Yep drivers are unpredictable. For decades I've been playing the game I call "What's This Idiot Going to do Next" where I try to predict what other drivers are going to do. After about 5 decades I've gotten pretty good at it, probably because I used to be that guy, but no more. Keep the good stuff coming guys and give Dexy one of those chicken treat Carl or Karl or Kyle likes so much.
Carl is absolutely correct about his recommendation to have a dash camera. As a 33-year police officer, my specialty has been traffic enforcement and accident investigation, and I can tell you having a dash cam, or maybe two, is one of the best things you can do to protect yourself after the fact. The number one thing you can do to protect yourself, and your family to prevent collisions, is to drive safely and courteously. Carl’s claims about intersections being dangerous is right on. Intersections are probably the number one location where fatal traffic collisions occur, at least in my experience. Safe driving everybody!
Being in the tow truck business we see every single day the aftermath of speed, people not paying attention, etc . And I am so glad you gave that little public service announcement. If people would just take a few extra seconds and slow down and pay attention to their surroundings. Don’t try and beat the light . We’ve had plenty of parents, family members come to tow yard to retrieve children’s belongings that died in accidents. And like you , I’ll finish on a brighter note . Why couldn’t the chef cook the alligator 🐊? Because he only had a Croc Pot 😜
So glad you guys were okay. Thanks for showing us this. Slowly and a big following distance helps. Thanks for not honking!!!!! Ugh! I think we need a dash cam just for regular driving these days. Drivers do crazy things all the time. Go Hanks. How fun to travel with friends. You're the best. BTW NayNay, I definitely have the wife brake thing going on, too. #ThanksHanks #teamDexman #teamNayNay #teamCarl
Fun video 😊. Traveling in a caravan can be fun at times and sometimes hopeful. We do one every year and go scuba diving. Hope you’re not hearing the bad weather. That’s coming out of Texas and going north. If so, stay safe stay warm. Period my wife found a place off the keys. Wonder if you ever heard of it or ever been there it’s called the Dry Tortugas national park. It’s actually a fort. I looked it up and there’s supposed to be a great snorkeling around the fort. Safe travels. Thanks from Wisconsin.
One lesson I learned from my former boss - who learned from his father who was a truck driver with a PERFECT record for over 40 years (and received an award for it), was one thing - which has stuck in my mind ever since: Whether driving a Car or a Motorhome, BACK UP only as much as you need to PULL Forward with clearance. As someone said below, most accidents happen backing up. It's a practice I live by to this day, and a lesson I never forgot.
Ugh I love it when sites have soft gravel or dirt under, or it rains and the RV starts to sink. We left a campground in a downpour once and had to hit the dump station, I was soaked after letting er rip, my shoes were still soaked 2 hours later when we got home.... not the most fun lol but all part of RV camping.
For this very reason I now have a dash camera. I don’t understand why people pull out in front of a dually and a 5th wheel. I don’t care about their idiocy, but I will protect what I worked so hard for and most importantly protect my family.
We love all your advice and videos! Could you make a video on “the making of happily ever hanks” I would love to see things like what cameras you use and the editing programs! Fun things like how many hours you record and how you figure out what to keep! Lol Backstory: my husband will start travel nursing in about 6 months we have researched for over a year and just got our truck and RV. I will be a stay at RV mom with 2 littles and want to start documenting and putting videos up for friends and family to show our journey! I will never edit as well as you but some tips on how and what to edit would be amazing! Huge fans and glad we found your page before we jump into this crazy world of travel!
My group will caravan in a group of 4 ( trucks and trailers ) but we meet at Buc'ees and then caravan from there. There is some planning around Buc'ees lol, but it's fun to do. So that adds up to 8 adults, 2 grandkids, 8 dogs and many potty breaks.
Our best friend on the caravan was the cell phone. While my wife didn’t like it, I made calls to them every 30 min or so to just make sure. We also agreed ahead of time 64 mph. Love you did that too.
Hopefully when you get to Arizona it won't be cold and snowing as we got snow in Apache Junction, Arizona today Wednesday 3-2-2023. Superstition Mountain had lots of snow clear down into the valley... brr...
Carl…very sage advice about slowing down and controlling the chaos. My husband was a CRNA and always said, when the @#$@# hits the fan in the OR, I have to remain calm and control my actions….. PS…The Hanks dumping Tanks….lolol
So happy, Finally got to order apparel. I bought 4 shirts for now, and the little lady is in WV taking care of her Mom. I will be there on Saturday, and she can pick out what she wants, and we can place another order. We love you guys. I will have the one pound reeses and bottle of wine when we finally meet up.
Just started watching you guys not long ago, love you guys. Great video, I live in Florida wish I was leaving it. It’s hot here already and it’s March!!! Have fun safe travels.
I don't honk at other RV'ers because...I've probably made the same mistake! At some time during my travels. I do know that once you enter the intersection it's best to keep going, because the person behind you is expecting you to (unless an accident is involved OF COURSE). If you slam on the brakes, it could cause more problems. My motto is, "Don't make a bad situation worse". And I don't honk for the exact same reason as Karl.
I could not have said it better myself. Slow down and keep plenty of space between you and the vehicle ahead. Drive carefully I should see you guys in Arizona. Grandpa Jack
Hey! What was that picture of the little girl when you mentioned Wiiliston? That was my neck of the woods when i was young... Great video. Planning our full time RV life here in NZ. Excellent tip on grey water dumping.
We just left FL after a 2-week stay, but we’re heading for a week at Stone mt Park in GA. Great camping so far. I suppose the rain will stop soon. Hopefully! I’m interested how your caravan works out.
Have you figured out where/when you plan to cross the border into Canada on your way up to Alaska? And... get hold of some bright yellow paracord. Put a loop through each chock. It is easier to yank on that loop of cord than pull on the chock itself.
We just caravaned with 5, 3 class A’s 1 5th wheel & 1 bumper pull, walkie talkies a must and leave pleonasm room between each other for traffic to merge in to exit ect
I’m so jealous…. Can’t WAIT to caravan! 😂 I think. Looking forward to your experience, but traveling with friends and hanging out once you get there sounds like a blast! For this one though…I am assuming you guys reserved in advance to accommodate everyone? Correct?
Thanks to Dexter for his running commentary. Your near miss got me thinking, what kind of recording camera do you utilize for traveling insurance? No one really talks about that particular piece of equipment.
You have never been to Az before? 1900 miles from my home in Alabama to Tucson, my family. Don't get the "Get there I tis". Expect winds in New Mexico. Go to the bottom of the grand canyon by mule, spend the night if there is a bunk bed available
I think I know the campground you stayed where the rooster was 😂. Was it west of Tallahassee? If so, we stayed there and the rooster came to our steps each morning. Safe, fun travels!
I agree with everything you said PEOPLE SLOW DOWN. Driving like you have multiple lives. Less junk more journey did a caravan with 2 or 3 others in their last 3 videos.
You'd think when people see a larger truck with a tall 5th wheel, they would avoid pulling out directly in front of you - but it happens to us pretty regularly too. Surprising how careless some drivers are.

LMAO!
Remember that in some parks the limit is only because you may have a tree or bridge that you can’t turn through
I love Kyle's explanation of why he didn't honk the horn at the driver who cut you off. Calm, cool, and collected - I love it!!!
Great break in comments about accidents in and around intersections and speaking from your experiences as ER nurse and paramedic! Thank you for putting that in the video. Did not kill the vibe!! Gave great information and very appreciated on this end! :)
Great advice Karl!! So Cal freeways are raceways!! Definitely defensive driving here!! Kathi
You guys have the best rv show there is!! Is funny, it’s truthful, it’s very interesting, very comical!! Love it
Thank you so much for your feedback and for watching!
Carl that was a good talk about causing confusion and intersections. I need to take your advice and stop getting excited at folks. Ya'll stay safe
As Driver You Eat 🍕 - Fuel ⛽️ and Potty at the same Stop ✋️ 🛑 No Extra Stops
That’s how we travel too. I make lunch so we’re eating while driving lol

Going to Arizona to miss the rainy weather . Safe travels , Nice to see RVers going places together
Happy travels ☺️
Good PSA! Thanks Hanks!
We were in site 2 at Coe Landing just a few days before you. I wish we had gotten to meet you!! Maybe another time. We checked in 2/16.
Carl, your speech was right on. Needs to be said many times. You did not bring down the vibe. Love you guys!
Thank for the heartfelt friendly reminder to slow down. Your reminder came from an angel in heaven I watched this video yesterday. Thank you for the new upload you guys!!! 🫶🏽
I need to follow that channel. "Dumping Tank with the Hanks". Love it.
3:12 64-65 mph is my max too. Beyond that, fuel MPG goes down the drain!
Feeling your worries. I got to be the victim of road rage while pulling my 5th wheel through Charlotte, NC. 2 weeks ago. It scared the heck out of me. That really sucks that it happened to y'all. I hope you had a dashcam to protect you and nail that !
I don’t know why you guys changed the energy and over the top vibe of your videos but I am really enjoying the new calmer content. Nice job❤😊
Great PSA KYLE!

Same here 65 mph max for me to. Plus gas mileage drops even more over 65 with my F350
So you're going through the areas that are having high winds and/ or tornadoes! Good luck!
UGH!!! Hate setting up or tearing down in the rain. As always a fun video! Safe travels kids!!!

If you go through SW NM there is an RV park in Deming New Mexico. It is literally surrounded by mountains. It is a gem in the middle of nowhere.

As someone said below, most accidents happen backing up. It's a practice I live by to this day, and a lesson I never forgot.
Dumping Tanks With The Hanks! Love it! 😊
Lol
Backstory: my husband will start travel nursing in about 6 months we have researched for over a year and just got our truck and RV.
We stayed in that campground. Yes that rooster 🐓 is so real. We stayed in that exact site loved it!
Just bought a new 30 ft travel trailer had old ones for a long time love love u guys ur both adorable come to Canada one day
God bless the caravan! Safe travels!
I hope you guys are having a safe trip. There were so bad storm your way.
Nice video! The park looks great.
Side note: We have those same levelers but I first put down a 1x6 the and then the lever on top. This way the levelers wont sink into the ground!
Just started watching you guys not long ago, love you guys. Great video, I live in Florida wish I was leaving it. It’s hot here already and it’s March!!! Have fun safe travels.
Another great video. Hopefully you guys can hit some Buc-cees along the way west. Do you guys have any meet-ups coming up?
I live on the outskirts of Mobile Alabama hope you enjoyed your stay in our area!!! I would love to have met you while you was in our area!!!
Another fun video. Thank you
I don't honk at other RV'ers because...I've probably made the same mistake!
Aww sorry that happened to you in WIlliston! We have such a nice friendly town, must have been a tourist! LOL Thanks for the fun video, as always!
When I win the lotto maybe I can do what you guys do rock on enjoy your journey
I noticed Dexter was pretty talkative on the first part of the trip.
We are heading down to Florida and you guys headed out :( lol ;) , safe travels to all of you.
Just got my new camper. Can’t wait to take it on our first trip. Shenango campground Pa
