I’m just starting in real estate and I have no background in construction or anything, but most of the homes we sell are new builds. Your channel is helping me SO much with understanding the process of constructing a home and the terminology! Thank you!
Now is a great time to be in real estate. The prices of housing around my area are extremely high right now. I would say it was good for me but the price material went up hard to. I’m glad I could help you out with understanding some construction terminology. Feel free to ask any questions under the comment section. I will try to get to them as soon as possible. Thanks for the comment! Good luck
@@TheExcellentLaborer it’s the same where I am! We can’t keep inventory because they sell so fast! Thank you! I absolutely will keep watching and asking questions. Your channel is awesome!
@@TheKayPitt Great! Sell a lot and make that money!

i like your video i am learning a lot thank you
Great job man! It has been a while!!! Keep em coming!!!
This whole house build is going to be filmed!
Love the concept of you building a house mostly solo. Very inspirational. A few quick questions:
Did you use a soil penetrometer or some other tool to inform you how deep to excavate? If not, how do you know?
Did you have to consult with a structural engineer? If so, how expensive was that?
Is there a resource you use to find if you are compliant with code?
Thanks in advance!
Hey Jaime! If you were local Planning Office should let you know the minimum depth your footer should be. Here it has to be below the frost line of at least 18 inches. My best advice for you is to talk to your local Planning Office before starting your project. Hope that helps!
More power to you brother
I appreciate your support!
I want to build my own house from the ground up do you have a series of videos from beginning to end. And does everyone need to take the top soil off like you In this video. Can you just add dirt over the grass?
hello do you analyze the land to build? I been watching many videos here in USA . just Digging without saying anything about the land condition....
How do you determine how deep to dig? Planning to start my own dog soon and need to figure out how far down to dig for the house, garage, driveway.
Your foot or must be below the frost line. Check your local Planning Office to see exactly how deep that is. Hope that helps!
Why do home foundations have footings in places where there are no walls?
How much did this cost to build ?
Getting started is the fun part! Have the rules changed? Used to need two out of five years to avoid capital gains.
Yea you still need 2 yrs to avoid the gains tax. I will have to pay capital gains on the last house sale.
if it was a c corp, u may be able to push those cap gains forward five years and offset with a capital loss. Have u explored that option?

Welcome!
thanks for the UA-cam where can I drawer up some plans
I used google drawings to make mine. Hope that helps!
Great video
Thanks! The kids were a big help!!
The Excellent Laborer I saw that. That’s wonderful!
How much does it add to the overall price to set it on a basement instead of the crawl space?
A finished basement typically appraises for half of the value of finished above grade space. An unfinished basement is even less. So I do not look as a basement as a money maker.
Where are you located?
I have a small, wooded, level lot in very sandy central Florida. If you did it's endless sand. I'd like to partially clear it, compact it and drop in a bunch of #57 in the form of a driveway to a clearing patch in the middle. But not just compact enough to drive over, but also a base for an eventual foundation for small/lightweight metal frame single story offgrid house. Is this possible and are their specific requirements I need to meet in Florida?
What kind of foundation you putting in?
Block. Cheaper than poured and still get the job done 😁
Good job how do you get into construction?
Thanks! My dad is a contractor and I started building when I was a kid with him. We built the houses is from the ground up. You can see him in some of my videos! I still love construction and I am very motivated to keep making videos on the topic. Stay tuned! I will be building garages and houses and much more in the future. Thanks for watching!
How much would it cost for you to build a 2,000 square foot home foundation?
It depends on the location. Where I’m at it’s about $100 per square foot roughly for material and a 1/2 acre building lot. Hope that helps.
@@TheExcellentLaborer , so for $100 per square foot what would did it cost you to build a foundation like that from your experience ball park?
@@TheExcellentLaborer Just the foundation like in the video 2000 sqft
Can you build a foundation in winter?
add anti-freeze to concrete delivery/mix on request.
Title: "How to build a house yourself"
Guy: proceeds to explain the 5 different contractors he's waiting for. Meaning he isn't BUILDING any of it. That's not building yourself.
Josh has a great channel - one of my favorites. This is just the *start* of the foundation prep. See his other videos rather than criticizing him. You always sub out specialty work like excavation and blocks. My dad was also a contractor and we never dug the foundations. You hire a backhoe guy. We did help pour the concrete though...
They need the smaller John Deere 605k
