I'll be 59 next month and have been feeling alone in my increasingly gray hair journey/struggle, so seeing you be so open and vulnerable about the process that I can so relate to brings me comfort. I'm not alone. Thank you - helps normalize it for me.

You are SO not alone! I've recently stopped going to the salon (expensive, I don't enjoy it, etc), and I'm going to try to do it myself. I understand your struggle! Jen does it so well, but, it might be more challenging with brown shades than blonde. Anyway, there are plenty of us out there..be assured! 😊

I love Revlon Colorsilk too. It covers the best and is the most beautiful coverage for silver and gray hairs. I try not to color very often because my hair is light brown and I color it with lightest natural blonde. I try to go 4 months in between colorings. I live how you show us how you go through the process. I learned something and I appreciate it! Thanks Jennifer! 💛

This is what I read about medium ash blonde -
It is called the ash blonde hair color. It is a light blonde shade with a silver-gray tint ( this is why I hesitate using it since it already has silver gray in it) that gives it a cool shiny finish. Because it is a cool-toned shade, it works well with cool-toned skin and pairs nicely with green or blue undertones.

A tip that a hairstylist taught me. Hair color removes hair color from the skin. Next time, right before you shampoo. Take some of the left over color and rub it on your skin where you see the stain. It really works! I use the Revlon medium brown, it even works for that!

That's great it works out for you . I am a natural blonde, And I've dyed my hair my whole life, same color as yours, But last year something changed, idk maybe menopause,,, I can no longer put blond in my hair, it started falling out breaking and it was stiff like straw!! Now I must use a different color that's not as harsh, as soon as I put my dark red burgundy color in,,,my straw -like hair was transformed... This is just what is working best for me.

    • @JeniferJenkinsBeauty

Mine did that after I had Covid at the end of 2021. My hair felt like straw and was breaking off. It's taken me a YEAR to get it back in good health. I'm glad you were able to transform your hair. I bet it looks beautiful! ❤😘

You deserve it! Although I don’t plan on coloring my hair, I love to watch your videos, because I just enjoy watching you. But if I was someone who colored my gray, I would definitely use this video, for sure, and do it myself using this exact product, and your method. Definitely. Goodness Jenifer the silver hair battle is real girl!!!! I am your exact age and I have to get to the salon now every three weeks! I don't have as much silver as you yet but its creeping in fast!!! Funny thing is I have zero grey in the back, LOL!!! My husband says the greys are always closer to the front because of all the thinking and worrying we do!! LOL!!! Do you ever just want to let your natural hair come out? I say I do all the time but I always end up back at the salon, LOL!!!! My two boys say I look too young to sport the grey yet. I don't know, I know I will eventually but not quite sure I'm ready just yet!!! YOu did a great job. Not sure I could pull off at home coloring since I am a brunette and I feel like its a little tougher to do at home. Have a wonderful weekend pretty

I use the root touch-up, which comes with a small stiff brush. About every 6 weeks, and it's barely enough color for the front , I never thought to use a box of color instead . I'm definitely going to try this Revlon silk. If I'm not mistaken, I think my mom used that years ago. Thanks again😊.oh, and you look amazing. I really appreciate this because i'm shifting from getting my hair done at a salon (root color always sometimes low lights sometimes high lights depending on the season.. brow tint) to doing it myself in a lower maintenance way... my stylist is retiring sniff sniff.. but really it's a lot to be going every 4-5 weeks and trying to keep brunette in when there's no brunette left. I'm silver/white naturally so i think a darker blonde with warm it up but not be too far from the natural ... much like your hair.

I’ve had black hair all my life, and want to go blonde because it’s really mostly white now! It’s time to adjust and stop fighting my insanely bright roots every 3 weeks. Every other blonde root maintenance video is about using bleach, and I started to wonder if I was crazy thinking I could just use a high lift blonde dye to even out my own roots. 😅 I cannot afford a double process every 4-6 weeks! But I don’t want hideous banding either. This gives me so much encouragement. My dark virgin hairs are an ashy medium brown and this looks like it could work to blend them with my white-to-blonde plan.

I’ve heard on a Just For Men video that putting Petroleum Jelly on the skin along the hairline keeps your skin from getting stained. Then the petroleum jelly washes off. Not sure if this will work for your process though because you would need to wash it off right away when you shampoo the hair.

I try NOT to color the roots much, so I only do it every 6 months. I use haircolor sprays in-between and continue to do that during the 6th-month touch-up color wait. My sister colors her hair by a professional every 4 weeks......and, I noticed her hair isn't thick like it used to be.
Years ago, I also colored my hair 3 times within 1 1/2 months, as I was going from Brown to Blonde, Blonde to Brown, and back to Blonde. I didnt realize this would be SO hard on my hair......and, I now have an area that receeded in my hairline. I have learned it's NOT good to color roots and hair much, and have been satisfied with JUST using the haircolor sprays before the 6-month root color touch-up process.
That''s been my experience with root touch-ups and hair coloring. I will try this process next time on my own as last March I had my roots colored and the Hair Salon used a hair color that did NOT cover any of the grey roots..... so, I had to go SOMEWHERE else where they used another product line. "THANK GOODNESS" that did the trick.
This was a GREAT video and THANK YOU Jenifer for sharing. Your root results look REALLY good.😊

I used the Medium Ash Blonde to go back to my natural color after being way too blonde. It looks very natural but it absolutely will not cover gray at all for me which sucks because I only have a little around ears and around my face. I went really thick with it there, let it stay on for a good 45 mins but the hairs are no different. The rest of my head took the color but not where I wanted it the most. I can't find a single product that covers gray which is going to be a problem in the next few years. Nothing works!

Looks great, Jenifer! I have dark blonde roots and highlights throughout my hair but would like to try saving some $$$ and doing it at home! Id like to have my whole head a similar blonde shade to yours but i'm afraid of choosing the right box of colour lol. Would this shade work for dark blonde roots as well or do I risk turning my hair orange etc??

Why not applying the hair color starting on the back side and the front at the end, that way u have more control over the more visible part of your hair.
    Thank you for sharing 😊

The conditioner that comes with it is nice too. They don't sell it separately.

Question, I was using the dark ash blonde for my white/grey roots and then tried medium ash blonde because of both of your tutorials. However, the product makes my hair brassy and dark. In your most recent videos your hair looks true blonde, why does your hair look blonde and not dark/brassy?

How do you you do the rest of your hair? Such a pretty blonde. Thanks. Great video! I will try Revlon Silk. I have used L’Oreal before. ❤😊

It’s the same root color that has grown out. It fades/lightens as it grows, which is why it’s a lighter blonde than her roots.

I got to try this! But to be honest i always end up orange! If apied straight to the roots..foil ighlights work better for me but cost a fortune! Im 59 also..u look great! Vaseline around the ears hairline helps with staining .

Try an ash based color, and always use toner. My hair turns bright orange whenever lightened. Gray or blue semi-permanent colors like ION titanium (mixed with conditioner depending on how light your hair is) will cancel out the orange.
