Please take note, the collision is not meant to be historically realistic in terms of position of either planets, the effects of the collision, and the speed of Theia. The only factor meant to be true is the size of Earth and Theia.

How to do it:
Step 1: buy universe sandbox
Step 2: go to the earth and crank up the heat...REAALLY high
Step 3: get some big asteroid, preferably the size of the moon
Step 4: boil ‘Theia’
Step 5: crash it to earth and watch the horror

What probably happened:
Theia barely collided with earth, rotating it 23.5° to it's side. (giving us seasons)
Then, Theia turned into Earth's rings, which later came together to make the moon. And then, yeah. Were here now.

Thanks for the description. It does appear that the entire mass of the smaller planet is completely absorbed by the Earth or else entirely vaporized. Probably not realistic at all. Looks cool tho! (Until it happens lol)

If I had a time masheen this is one of the first times I would go. Imagine the Earth crust bending as impact was about an hour away. Whatever that Earth looked like we will never know. Was there anything living on Earth at that time ? If there was it was not evolved enough to know or care.
