Have a China Red 300SD 1980 "Barn Find" with 67,000 miles on it -one owner - non smoker. Car is absolutely perfect! Parked and Garaged the last 23 years. Can't decide whether to make it a daily driver or put it on blocks for the future. Either way is tempting--Beautiful car!!

I just saw this video. It has been two years now, so is that SD still on the road? I also have a 1984 300SD with 752K. Parked it 4 years ago due to an overheating problem. Just yesterday I bought a mostly restored 1983 SD with only 132K original miles. It's like going back in time! I love those cars. Best wishes.
I just recently added a 1984 300SD to my W126 Stable. It is Lapis Blue over Palomino. it has a rebuilt engine with only 68K miles... the power is amazing and whats also incredible is how quiet it idles. it has Euro Bumpers as well as a rare AMG Body Kit. it even has the vacuum adjustable Euro Headlights lol. I am super excited about this car(: I just figured I'd share my excitement. (cars I currently own... 1984 Mercedes-Benz 300SD.. 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SEC.. 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SEL.. 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300TE and a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta TDI.) Happy Motoring to all!!
my 617 motors are the best.... I've had them in w116,w123,w126 and trust them over our newer Subaru . Just so damn simple... We even tow started one of these years ago.... Yea pulled a w123 with a w126 about 30 mph and threw the shifter from N to S and it started right up.... Broken starter, dead battery.... car had sat for 6 years and was so rusted to itself the wheels dragged at first. Crazy adventure
I love my 84 300sd i want no other car. Currently has 302,573 miles i have the egr blocked off boy did i get more take off power when i did that. My dream car is a 2006 cl65 amg
I currently have the 1981 w123 240d 4 speed manual and love the car. It replaced my 1980 w123 240d automatic. It was taken out from a drunk driver. I walked out alive. The only thing though is I would like to have a mercedes diesel with more room in the back seat for longer trips. I have taken my 240d into the Los Angeles area and did okay. I live north east of Bakersfield in Porterville. The only thing is that for longer trips it is not comfortable for the passenger in the back seat. Suggestions would be appreciated.
The w126 300 SD is the best! The doctor in the very small town I grew up in had a 1984. At the time of his death had 442,000 miles. Hearing a om617 just makes me smile. I'm looking for one myself but i understand you can no longer get vacuum pumps. Is this true? What does one do when the vacuum pump goes out if they are no longer available. Your videos are great! I enjoy them very much.
Sir if a car runs over 1 miilion kilometers mileage... Still can be use or need to change engine? Planning to buy sd300 but the mileage is one million plus. How about the turbo assembly of sd300 sir?
Love ur vids Pierre!!! How long do u think my 92 300sl can go if I continue to maintain the crap out of her. She's my daily for 3 years now. Just rebuilt trans at 157k Goal is 500k.lol

I just finished an engine swap w124 (1987) 230e using a Ssangyong Rexton (2003) om662 engine, the korean mercedes engines, licensed copies of the om602 diesel. Do you have any experience or have friends with experience on the Korean om602 cousins (in terms of reliability)? My research so far states that much of the internal parts are actual german mercedes, the pump is definitely Bosch.
I don't dislike the 2.5....and it is better than the 3.0 603, but I still see a lot of blown head gaskets on these cars... but yes, the good ones are very good.
I own a 87 300d with 165k miles in great condition and just acquired a 83 300sd with 110k miles. 1 owner car in great condition i drove it home 570 miles and ran flawless. Best $1200 I ever spent. And getting ready to pick up a beautiful gold w123 1 owner car with 85k miles i bought for $850 I love the way these cars drive. Automotive masterpieces.

yes....a 123 diesel would be a great addition...simple and reliable

they're just fine. Based on what I know all the internals are German.
Guess im going to complement my 83 240 D with an 95 E 300
both great cars. E300 is the best w124 by a long shot.
Go and do that with a new F car!! Even a new Mercedes!!
The best US W124 Diesel is the only one you didn't mention, the 300D 2.5 Turbo.
I don't dislike the 2.5....and it is better than the 3.0 603, but I still see a lot of blown head gaskets on these cars... but yes, the good ones are very good.
