I just love how it acknowledges Simon as taller than Kamina. It symbolizes that he not only matched him as his successor, but even surpassed him. Something that Kamina saw he had the potential of doing since the beginning.
Viral dream was really emotional. I wish we had fleshed out dreams for the whole cast. Plus the Link yells he does are super recognizable. (Same VA voiced Legend of Zelda Link)
One thing to remember, Kitan didn't have the luxury of being around the core drill that facilitates the use of spiral power. He, much like Kamina, awakened spiral power just at the moment of death.
For those that don’t know, each parallel universe everyone was trapped in were in fact real. Meaning, Viral did have a daughter, Yoko married Kitan, and in one universe Simon and Nia had a child. Despite that, each chose to return and fight for their own universe against the anti spirals
@@samwilson4597eh kittans death is great but it gets carried by the moment of thek coming back up and forming super galaxy gurren lagann kamina's death is better and more imapctful overall
26:34 Clarification about the whole dream like state where they are in during episode 26. They are not inside a dream but a literal multiverse. The episode already said it they are trap inside a extradimensional space of universes created instant to instant as they are percieved. Theyre conciousness or the literal abstract mind of they very existancs are held and trap within that spaces of infinite possibilities. The translation is somewhat wrong with the episode aswell it isnt supposed to be translated to "extradimensional space" but "Multiverse Labyrinth" (多元宇宙迷宮, Tagen Uchū Meikyū, lit. multiple-universe labyrinth). The novel focuses more in lore, scientific theories and explanations and proper information while the anime is just for fun and awsome fights So simon and the gang escaping that hellscape is literary a insanely huge feat to do
So glad I'm not the only one hit that hard by Viral having such a simple wish, that could never come true, and NEVER mentioning it. It's so goddamn sad. Also the opera music, by itself? That's the Antispirals' theme. It's mixed with the rap because the rap is Team Gurren's theme. The song is the war between them.
Pre-time skip has a more adventurous, ragtag vibe. I really love watching the characters learn about their world and take incremental bounds toward creating their better future. Also, Kamina. Post-time skip is obviously even more bombastic and fast-paced, with each evolution of Team Dai-Gurren's resolve skyrocketing past anything they'd done before. All that, and you get the thematic payoffs on a large scale to everything that was set up on the small scale. I can't really separate the two "halves," as neither one is really complete without the other. I do prefer the character designs and mech designs of the pre-time skip episodes, though! They just go really well with that adventurous, wanderlust feel of that part of the series.
Kinda late, but I just found the channel. I like to think that the anti spirals were completely screwed with Kamina. Kamina is such a monolith and fundamental part of Simon's worldview, that the infinite perceptual universes would either have to emulate him completely, or as we saw, make a corrupted false idol version of Kamina. I'm pretty sure it's canon that Kamina himself is the one that shows up and frees Simon (and probably Yoko, we just don't hear him speak to her). But even so, what really lets Simon realize the situation he's in, isn't just Kamina being there, it's that the ideals and lessons Kamina passed on are so fundamentally against what the infinite universe labyrinth is, that no matter what reality Simon perceived it could never feel correct. For example, even though Kamina is the one that gave him the pep talk, before he appeared, Simon felt his missing drill, Kamina sped up the process and helped him remember; But even then Simon knew something was off, and I don't think it's coincidental that the moment he starts having those doubts are at the doll graveyard and seeing Kamina beg towards authority. So the labyrinth would either produce a true copy of Kamina, that would just instill the same feelings in Simon as he did in their reality, or it would produce a fake Kamina that would always feel off to the image and lessons he represented.
There is a theory that when a spiral being reach its peak its when it got both spiral eyes, which makes someone immortal (except from being killed) like Lordgenome. Kittan reached his peak of the spiral power in his final moments.
Yes your right about that except not immortal age but just a very long life giving them longevity, the novel and data book said something along those words
Does that means simon won't have a long life since he seemed to age normally due to suppressing his spiral power, as shown by the one eye. More sadness but I guess I wouldn't want simon to live a millennium without nia.
@@alexmartin6561 i think he wont really live long but since your right about him having 1 spiral eye in the end of the series because he himself is surpressing his powers cause he has created so much spiral power he could trigger it himself. Also it wouldnt be bad if he dies since he has already entrusted the protection of the universe to the next generation
Really good observation about the title of episode 25. Yoko is a real one for understanding Kitten's feelings fully and letting him do what he needs to do for himself. Also, as for pre vs post time-skip... I don't think any run of episodes pre-timeskip matches the euphoria of the final 3 episodes post-timeskip, as much as I love the fun of season one. However, I always discount the final 5 minutes of episode 27 because I think it is a weird and thematically inconsistent epilogue to a perfect finale. So I suppose it depends if you do or don't count the last part of episode 27: if you do then pre-timeskip, if you don't then they're both tied
Its taken me a long time to get used to the ending. Simon can't just fix everything forever. He's not god, and if he tried he would become the very spiral nemesis that the anti spiral predicted. Spiral power is at its best when it's used for others and not for ones self, and this world doesn't need warriors anymore. But still paving a path to tomorrow, and letting others have their time rather than dominating the whole cosmos on his own
Y ou O nly K iss O nce returns! also lord genome WAS human, I think that either now he doesn't count since hes a bio computer or the anti spirals are deliberately excluding him from the dimensional laberinth in order to have a fare well chat with him.
16:17 Ya esto es el tope de la épicidad en una serie anime, lamentablemente pasará algún tiempo cuando vuelvan a ver escenas iguales o parecidas a las de Gurren-Lagann en otro show nipon....
A lot of people would like to see you react to the movies. You're probably not interested since it breaks from your usual content format and it'd seem odd to give this show special treatment but, I do highly recommend you watch the second movie's final battle and parallel works #8.

Yo, your patron video for teir 1 isn't up after 12 hours. Also your intro has your old pledge prices on it. $12 a month is alot to ask for low effort content.
Yo Apologies! That must’ve been a mess up on patrons side since the One Piece video got unlocked same time and it’s there fine (should be fixed now) as for the pricing we haven’t changed it in months, keep in mind we show the UK price
watched this anime maybe 10 years ago. i only come back to the last 2 episodes, I don't like Kamina, the...weird eye chick is cute, hate sniper bitch. but these last two episodes, 26 and 27 are very fun. but I only get to enjoy them because I suffered through those horrible 2 dozen episodes.
Simon's glasses transformation is first a homage to Kamina, and then a homage to Kittan (with the star shape).
I just love how it acknowledges Simon as taller than Kamina. It symbolizes that he not only matched him as his successor, but even surpassed him. Something that Kamina saw he had the potential of doing since the beginning.
it's also a little call back on how Kamina hated the fact of people being taller than him. with the exception of being Simon
"This is the final form right?"
