My parents both went to Selena’s concert at the dome in 1995, and little did anyone know, she’d be murdered less than a month after she closed that concert saying “we’ll see each other soon” in Spanish. I also had the chance to go to the dome to see a few monster truck shows, in the range of 2000-2002
Seen my first game there in 82 and got to see my favorite all time pitcher Nolan Ryan. My Dad would bring us from Louisiana each summer to see an Astros game one day and go to Astro world the other day. Moved to Houston in 92 and went to a ton of games during the Killer B's days. Fun fact. Up until the time it closed you could still smoke in the mezzanine level or as we called it "smokin section. Tickets were pretty cheap also.
Love the video and historic info about the Astrodome. Curious, why the picture of Breezewood, PA at 1:35 mark? I'm very familiar with the area and was surprised when it popped up.
People make the Astrodome seem like a haunted ghost building, it just came to end of life, nothing special behind it. Reliant stadium was built end of story..
Speak for yourself. Bud Adams tried to not only get a stadium for the Oilers, but also a multi-sport stadium to help appease the Astros and Rockets too and was denied at every level. He got denied by the city, county, and state for financial help. He even proposed to pay for half of the new stadium himself and was still denied. It's funny to see Houstonians whine and cry about how the Oilers name and history belong to Houston, but Houston kicked them to the curb because they didn't want to build a new stadium, then two years after the Oilers left, Houston decides to spend double what Bud wanted in 95 to build Reliant Stadium.
It had outlived its useful life-cycle and no longer merits renovation. The destruction wreaked on it by housing refugees from Hurricane Katrina was the "death blow".
16:08 uh who in the heck is William Collins. I've been a fan since the early 80s and never heard this name. Drayton McClane sold the team to Jim Crane in 2011, so I'm not sure what this means.
Each day that the place is not kept up is just another year that it gets more expensive to upkeep that place. They either need to tear the place down or find some way to turn it into a hotel which will be hundreds of millions of dollars to do.
my first astro game happend in the astrodome i still have the ticket stub was in 97 vs the pirates..its nice but i say tear it the fk down its a damn eyesore in the state thats in and build a statue .but shithead adams should've taken the astrodome with them to Tennessee
My dad went to one Astro game there once and saw Selena’s last performance there in 1995 at the rodeo, domes got some history.
I never got to fart there unfortunately
That's awesome, RIP Selena
One of the best WrestleMania’s ever, took place in Houston. WrestleMania X7

Brightsun Films made a video about the Astrodome a few years ago and it’s pretty good too. Basically similar to this one

Man was Selena such a beautiful Mexican woman. Gone tragically and too soon.
How do you not mention Selena’s historical performance!? Great video btw.
Brightsun Films made a video about the Astrodome a few years ago and it’s very good and I think he talks about her performance there too.
"And a fucking hill in center field" is my new favorite quote
Unfortunately, the hill is gone.
Ik always loved dead man's hill
That shit was dangerous and stupid as hell.

I think it's a joke of how car centric houston is
9:17 imagine going to a game and end up having dinner on the field

Man I wish I got to be there
as a Houstonian that was born in 2001, i yearn for the day i get to set foot in that stadium

What has happened to the Astrodome is a tragedy. At least we still have the SuperDome
Well, there still ideas of how to use the dome, but nothing confirmed.
It had outlived its useful life-cycle and no longer merits renovation. The destruction wreaked on it by housing refugees from Hurricane Katrina was the "death blow".

If you could do a video on old Yankee stadium and Shea stadium I would definitely watch those.
Let them play!! Let them play!! Let them play!!
Hello Bob Watson.
10:57 and 19:07. Dr. Phil played in that game for Tulsa.
"And a 🎺 hill!" 😅😅
the greatest baseball game ever played was played at the astrodome game 6 of the 1986 NLCS mets vs astros. the mets won in 16 innings

as someone who is from houston and went to a game in 99 they need to tear it down
Welcome to the Astrodome: The world's largest Spirit Halloween

Home of zero professional championship teams
Huh?
@@Benjiboi16the Astro dome never had a champ. What’s hard to understand?
94, 95 Back to Back NBA champs
@@greenpickle9606They played at the Summit and not the Astrodome. No pro team that ever called the Astrodome home ever won a championship.
@ I thought he meant a professional sport team I bet I know more than you do
The Astros haven’t won a World Series until 2022

God that is the ugliest stadium ever built.
Not as ugly as the stadium the 49ers built in Santa Clara.
If it was built in New york or california you would think it was the coolest thing ever for the time. But since it's Texas you hate it. So predictable
