I remember the struggle back in the day. Both me and my brother beat the whole thing rental only because we didn't have a transfer pak. And when we finally got it we just strutted through it xD
Beating the game with rentals only was my life as a kid lol. I didn't have a Game Boy, so it was rental or nothing. Needless to say, I actually had to read some guides in Nintendo magazines on what the best teams were for what, it was pretty tough but made for an interesting challenge back then!
Actually you don't need a Game Boy, if you have the transfer pak and the Pokemon Blue or Red cartridge you can play the game directly through your N64. In fact it was amazing to play it that way because the game actually had built-in changes such as a 4x speed option. As a kid with an N64 of course I didn't have emulators, so being able to play that game with 4x speed felt amazing haha. My family made fun of me too, they said "Why are you playing that stupid 2d game, why aren't you playing the 3d pokemon stadium we bought you?". The only thing I hated was that for some reason it was easy for the cartridge of the transfer pak to get disconnected from the N64 controller due to gravity or just moving the controller normally and if that happened the game would immediately freeze, so I often had to play the game with the controller flat on the ground and I'd be lying on my stomach playing it.
There's a way to use a Machamp in the Pika Cup, which shouldn't be possible, but it is. In Pokémon Yellow there's a girl who wants a Cubone, you can get a pretty low levelled Cubone, and trade it for her Pokémon, a Machoke, which then evolves into Machamp. If it's level 15, you can pair it with anything.

I'm super excited for the content you'll be posting in the future, whether they're edited or not, though I must say I absolutely love ur editing, so maybe you should post edited versions of your gameplay on this channel, and the raw unedited stuff on a 2nd channel? That'd be the best of both worlds imo but either way, I love your videos man!! I've been laughing at them since I was a kid first getting into Pokemon, and hopefully I'll still be laughing at them with my own kids someday! Though I'll have to cover their eyes/ears at certain parts, especially in those earlier videos!!! 😂😂😂 But anyways i'm genuinely super excited for what you'll upload in the future, can't wait!!! I played only rentals as a kid because I was too dumb to understand how to use the transfer pak. Now that it's on the switch I'm just still using rentals and the petit cup is going pretty smooth so far, I'd say this game is definitely beatable with a well rounded team since it's a mystery to what they'll have.
As a longtime sub to you, it's great to see you uploading more! This was a superb idea and to be honest you smashed it, great watch, Can't wait for your lets plays in the future!
For as challenging as it was to work with that handicap, you deserve that win, man. Good stuff! I'm trying the Gym Leader Castle challenge on my own channel. So far it's 2 gym leaders down, and 6 more to go. ☺️
You are doing us all a service by seeing if we can infact beat this game without our own Pokemon. We know Nintendo is going to screw up the re-release of that game by teasing us with it but having no compatibility whatsoever with it.
I beat both Pokémon stadium 1 and 2 about a month ago can’t wait to watch your upcoming videos keep up the great work Brandon love you and your content❤️😊
I cleared all the cups, beat the castle, and beat Mewtwo. It's possible but is both VERY difficult and requires some good RNG so save scumming is encouraged especially for moves like Horn drill or Metronome
This one definitely gets difficult real fast. Lapras and Chansey are actually quite good here since they're essentially fully evolved Pokemon and their movesets aren't awful. Has nothing on Master Ball level Prime Cup though.
great video ! i finished this game using my yellow pokemon xD but to play with rentals is another challenge ! I did beat Stadium 2 with rentals using speedrun strats ! It made so easier, even more with the infinite continues glitch take care, brandon !
The tentacruel had me hung up too, the only strategy I could think of was hope you don’t get crit and use thunder wave to cut its speed. And even then, I eventually I won on a set she didn’t pick tentacruel.
i just got this game on the switch few days ago on nso. i love it. its fun. i was happy to play this game again. i was only a kid when this game came out. yeah useing rental pokemon is rng. the whole game can be beating with rentels even Round 2. i never did it tho. was to hard because the rng was never on my side. i have full respects for ppl who beat this on the real N64 because that was burtal because there was no save stats. i just beat gym leader castle. had to use save stat few times to win lol.
@@ABrandonToThePast What's truly rough is that almost all of it's extra content requires Transfer Pak and Gen1&2 games which is impossible to get on this: Reward pokémon like Earthquake Gligar, Gen1 starters/fossils/Hitmonchoice/versionexclusives, Surfing Pikachu, Mystery Gift and its exclusive decorations etc. Inaccessible!

Here's a self imposed challenge I'm trying out right now on Switch: Gym Leader Castle but for each Gym you can only use Pokemon available in the GB games in the regions before the gym fight (basically Professor Oak's challenge applied to Pkmn Stadium, but don't skip gyms like the actual challenge to make it more interesting, otherwise you'd have access to a lot of Pokemon for Surge already)
I was thinking about this game on Switch. I thought stupidly they might fix the extra hardest parts like that freaking Porygon, which gave me nightmares back in the day. Now I see how wrong I was... This cup is the most unfair at all the game.

I gotta say, that Exeggutor, from a logistics standpoint of being rendered utterly obsolete if not a severe liability, is dead weight on the team. I'll just break it down in terms of what it hits supereffectively. It has mega drain(I could lash Pokémon with a wet noodle harder than that) and psywave. Sorry to get super judgemental, I just can't help but point out how Exeggutor aint gonna be up to much besides sponging some attacks.
Yeah, the grass rental choices aren't great. Like I said at 11:10 I chose Exeggutor because I liked the fact that you can use mega drain to heal yourself and damage the enemy. Self healing is very helpful in this challenge. You can also Toxic your enemy and keep using mega drain to do damage, heal yourself and the poison dose damage too. Oh yeah... moves like Wrap and Fire Spin are a pain in the gut to deal with in Gen 1 (as it can be combined with Toxic strategies to cheese out any pokemon), Gen 2 onwards changed that by not allowing you to change pokemon but still able to fight, and yeah, overall is possible to complete both Stadium 1 and 2 with rentals... but you're for a wild ride with only rentals as you need to be more creative and being at the mercy of the RNG most of the time.

Rentals only? I wish I had your determination
By spamming moves like thunder, fire blast, and hydro pump, and ice beam, r1 is literally a walk in the park

was Las mr.mime shiny?
or what was that color difference 👀 i know shiny wasn’t a thing in gen 1
