Such an amazing memory. This shouldn't be so hard to find, that theme is so iconic! Falling asleep as this show came one just at the end of regular programming is one of the best memories of late-night childhood!
I was going through Debussy music and heard Arabesque and couldn't for the life of me remember why I had such a strong connection to it. I then remembered it was space...but why? THANK YOU for posting this. Brings back so many memories.
I used to watch Jack every Sat/Sun night on PBS out of Wilkes-Barre.......just after the Red Green show. I miss it terribly now that they stopped broadcasting it.
@TheYayzooUberstah - He was on our local PBS affiliate in TN., I had no idea what happened to him when the affiliate changed its programming around. Brings back memories of the 80's.
Does his voice kinda' sound like a Ferengi's to anyone else? I remember watching him as a kid, I always loved waiting for him to come on right before I went to bed...there was almost something magical with the cosmic music and astronomy lessons. Awesome!
UA-cam needs to put Jack in their science section and compile his programs. Write UA-cam and see if they will do this. I love his show. I am glad to have found Jack's program. This is incredible!
UY Scuti is really the biggest star in the entire Universe it's a red supergiant or red hypergiant star located in the direction of the constellation Scutum.

@jubalate Arabesque by Isao Tomita on the album, Snowflakes are Dancing. Isao was quite the pioneer of synthesizer music dwarfed only by Moog and on par with Stevie Wonder.
This show brings back memories of when I was a kid, I heard old Jack passed away today, he will be missed. That was quite an impressive display of athleticism at 4:10 though.

Sometimes I think Astronomers just get off on figuring out how many planets can fit inside a star, and making unit conversions
.
i was just thinking the same thing...
i want to download this theme song.
I want to know what the ending music was, when the credits go by. RIP Jack.
@M51Galaxy he's dead now, so i dont think you'll have a choice.
Is there a way to get these old episodes?
what is the name of this song??? i love it
Jack really had to hurry with the ending cause he was running out of time in this episode.
Can anyone tell me what he died of?
Double Wow!
So... do u know the name of the this theme song?
@M51Galaxy Looks like you will have to now : (
Is the theme song a real song? If it is, does anyone have the title or composer?
It's an arrangement of "Arabesque No. 1," by Claude Debussy.
Definitely DeBussey
performed by Tomita
Reminds me of Art Bell.
