Rush is a band equal to the sum of its parts. Nobody carries anybody in this band. But yes Neil is still undoubtley the greatest drummer and lyricist of all time
Honestly wish Rush would've done more albums like this. High energy. This album is Rush doing grunge, just a huge wall of sound recorded too loud and no guitar solos, works great though
I don't drink energy drinks nor coffee I just listen to "Vapor Trails"! I recall back in '03-06 what a kick ass party I had-every night! at my appartment and at night all night! every fucking night! I was the loudest mid-late 30s year-old in the nieghborhood then!
the closest they ever got to a bad album was maybe power windows, or presto but I mean, The Pass, Chain Lighting, Hand over Fist, Manhattan Project, Emotion Detector, and Big Money lol.
@@GiganticWeen I love "Power Windows" lol. I thought "Hold Your Fire" was their last really good album, then everything after that ("Presto" until the end) was pretty mediocre. I thought their "A Show of Hands" laserdisc/album was a really good way to show off most of their best songs from the 80's and then I sort of lost interest after that.
You see in the distance a car pulled over on the side of the road with police flashers. You pop in Vapor Trails and hit play, roll down the window, grab your coffee and toss it at the cop as you race by. Run the deadly race.
Soooo much better than the remix. The guitar is so much more prominent and the vocals are better. They should have just cleaned up and remastered this mix.
I agree the original mix is much better. It has a rawer more direct sound. The remix includes a lot of unnecessary lead guitar that spoils that. This song is one of my favs from the album.
Hiring producer David Bottrill to remix the album, bassist/singer Geddy Lee says: “He understood what it should sound like,” he says, “so I’m very pleased with the end result. I think he’s finally brought some completion and some justice to some of those songs we’d put so much of our heart and soul into.”
It doesn't sound like Rush the way Rush would produce it. And it was recorded way too hot, which they didn't catch until the recordings were done and they didn't like.
Neil just carries his band mates like a rocketship on this song.
Arguably both his best drum work and lyrics!

the time is now again
Excellent song...so horribly underrated...this entire album is a classic.
so horrbile they had to do a star wars number on it and strip out all the overdrive grinde in 2013! fuck the 10s!
The drums are really impressive. I always thought so but I think so now more than ever.

The outro on this cut is a speeding ticket waiting to happen..
"If culture is a curse of the thinking class"
You can't surpass this lyric.
Neil is like 5 drummers at once!! Amazing, really feel a hole in my life that's Hes gone!!!
Definitely in my top five of all time favourite Rush songs! Such groove and drive, pure perfection!!
Goosebumps and adrenaline to the Moon 🤘
This song is a sonic onslaught! A great album from a timelessly great band.
Absolute genius. Incredible songwriters, Alex and Geddy. They never brought in outside writers…like other bands. Beautiful.
I think I actually like the original mix of this album better.
William Cox yest bought the remaster... I think I agree with you... less cluttered.
It's song-by-song for me. Some sound better on the original, some on the new one. This one sounds better as originally mixed, definitely.
Chris Check they fucked up secret touch on the remixed version.. the bass is waaaaay too loud
There's something about the lack of guitar solo on this track that ironically works!
I agree wholeheartedly, but that's not to say the remix isn't great...there is no bad Rush....ever....
Dear Geddy, Alex and Neil…THANK YOU for this masterpiece of ART!
You know, I just realized…this album is almost decadent…a guilty pleasure! 😅
Beside Counterparts my fav RUSH album!
Honestly wish Rush would've done more albums like this. High energy. This album is Rush doing grunge, just a huge wall of sound recorded too loud and no guitar solos, works great though
This is better than grunge
Really love the beat in this epic song
Love this toon. Great opening riff.
Such an amazing song.
If this doesn't get your rocks off you have no right calling yourself a rock fan!!

How did you get away with that living in an apartment? Nobody called the cops?
Time to pull this record out again and be the loudest mid-50s guy in the neighborhood. 😏
I don't think rush has a bad album

I love those songs. I would say their weakest is Test for Echo, tho i personally like the majority of those songs
@@GiganticWeen Power Windows is their best album 😂

Yeah the lack of guitars makes the remix unlistenable
That badass break during "if laughter is a straw for a drowning man" is no more.

Love this song!!!!🎉
@3:47, kills all!!
Sounds they've been listening to 'I Will Follow' by U2.
This is like U2 on high octane aviation fuel.
The mix takes the guitar effects away. Guitar on top guitar is gone in the other. I like the having feeling in this one.
The Original Mix of VAPOR TRAILS was way better. Never understood why the guys in RUSH didn't see it that way.
I don't think it was necessarily them because they did release it this way.

Forgot how crappy this sounds 2:50
Loud and irritating. I'd want to know what went wrong, so I could avoid it.
All I know is people would do better by Rush than the Bible.

i miss Neil
