I climb at the gym that Matilda owns. Showed up a couple of days ago and wouldn't you know there was crack problem for the first time on the wall. You're turning everyone to the dark side Pete and I love it! Edit: Emil's fight just before he falls off was beautifully shot and edited! This and the series you guys did with Toby is just stellar and very unique!
Emil and especially Matilda totally smashed it. Proper try hards and amazing close-up filming. Background scenery like a painting. Enjoyed the silent moments on the wall. Thanks a lot.
Absolutely loving the mood in this video with the serene nature sounds in the background. Edited just right to give the climbers space while still feeling intimate.
What a beautiful pair of climbers! Emil looks like he walked straight off the cover of a romance novel and Matilda is simply luminous. Great job Pete with the shots and the edit. I especially appreciated you cutting the backing music when the going got tough, leaving only the ambient sound.... and I appreciated your silence when a very pumped Emil tries to place the No.6 in a placement you would have known required the No.5!
10:30 Something about this portion of the video(and again at 18:50) that I find specifically pleasing. Just the sound of the rain and slight wind muffle (no music), the grunts and encouragement, even the macro clinks from the tools: It feels strangely silent and deeply engaging, yet at the same time almost deafening with audio nuance. ❤
I watch a good few climbers and I think this is the best climbing channel on youtube, the shots are all gorgeous, and the tone is just the right balance between earnest effort and lighthearted stuff. like you can tell when someone’s on the wall they’re giving it all they’ve got, but it’s not so serious between attempts as to be off-putting.
This was bloody awesome. Matilda surely has to put some time into crack climbing finesse, now she knows what she can do! With mad endurance like that, she could be jamming up 9a's at some point if she wanted to! Emil's fight was glorious to watch, he's so, so good at reaching that all-out battle mindset, like only the top 1% can. I feel like Emil's nowhere near his peak yet, and we're going to see him pull off some crazy shit in the next five years. Absolutely stunning video guys 💪💪💪💪
Crazy to watch the 2 different climbing styles. Watching Matilda made me feel calm and Emil made me feel like I was watching a war. The music really suited the 2 styles as well. Great little film!
The thing i enjoy the most in this series is seeing @EmilAbrahamsson enjoying crack climbing more and more. That smile at 5:45 doesn't lie, reject being a boulder-bro, embrace becoming a trad-dad! Seriöst då, gått om tid att bouldra vintertid men du klär som tradpappa :)
I really truly love this. I think it’s way cool anytime we take ourselves out of our comfort zone, and this is a great example of that. It also makes people like you, Emil, and Tilda seem much more human when we get to see you guys work through something new or difficult. It’s fun to see how, even though you all are such stellar climber’s within your strengths, that there are still places for you to learn and grow so much. Cheers.
It's so awesome and inspiring to see all you guys learn and do this stuff in such a short amount of time and just absolutely SMASHING it! Emil really gave all he had in him! Amazing effort! Congrats to Matilda! Loved her attitude and happiness throughout both videos a lot! She's a real sunshine 🙂
They were both utterly awe inspiring on the lead tries. Emil's boulder agression and Matilda's methodical solving on the route was ethralling to watch.
"the most pumped I've ever been in my life" He was SO close to victory! What an adrenaline rush. Massive battle for a good 8, maybe even 10 moves there. *Heroic* effort. So damn proud of that fight, best bit of the video for me. Sometimes when you fail, it's a huge victory. Nexr time he does this route he's going to nail it.
Loved this episode and the previous one! Seeing pros outside of their comfort zone is so interesting. I'd love to see you initiate more climbers to crack.
How, just how can Pete have such smooth hand without any cuts and bruises? My hands look way worse and I don't even crack climb. Awesome video. Awesome crew.
The silence during the climbs is so intense, you get completely drawn in, like you're there. Good Lord, i desperately want to do some outdoor climbing.
Awesome video as always, well shot and edited! Superb climbing from both and proper fight 💪🏽💪🏽I’m curious Pete, what is the grade of that route? They definitely smashed it but it looks hard and steep!
My eyes were literally glued to my screen the whole time. Both Emil and Matilda's fights were so epic - mad respect to everybody. Thanks for the amazing video!
Had to watch this on the phone on my trip back home... And did a few flipperoos myself. Have to say, ut didn't matter. It was always great and enjoyable! Glad to see some beautiful crack and some powerscreaming!
Awesome video! Emil was channeling his inner O-Dog. If he only had consulted with Professor Janecek I’m sure he would have done the lead first time. Awesome effort nonetheless from both of them 👏👏
@wideboyz awesome video thank you. What do you guys think about the gear placement at 20:36? The pink / purple cam. It looked pretty sketchy to me. I would love to hear you opinion how big of a fall it would hold. Thank you DK
It's a good placement, with this crack it's tricky to go wrong as it's so deep and parallel. However it is a bit over cammed, so all slightly different selection of crack might have been bettered. but in general i say when starting out placing gear slightly over cammed is better than slightly undercammed as you have to deal less with 'walking' etc. (just worse for the second) 😅
Your video quality/ shot selection and editing is amazing. Music is good but very loopy- the music is short and loops like 20-30 times per segment. I think some longer music would really help the videos shine, but maybe that’s just me that notices this.
Pete's hands - like shovels, the kind of thing you'd buy in Wicks to do gardening with and you wife would whinge that you gone over the top (again)! Her hands - delecate and beautiful, like something Shakespeare would write a sonnet about. Pete "smash it into the rock like a car jack and then twist it!" Her face - OK! Then she absolutely nails it! Athletes are something else.
how little they try to jam feet, and how much easier would be by doing so. Or knees,... and also in the offwidth how little they try to do chicken winds,... they try to crimp and face climb as much as possible. Of course because they are super strong climbers and used to crimp rather than jam
This was an absolutely awesome day Pete, thank you for this experience
Are you going to buy a rack now Emil?
For a first timer doing trad. You are a savage emil. That was so impressive to watch. You mindset was so impressive. Well done.
That was an exceptional effort on the lead go! I thought you were gone way way earlier than you actually did fall.
@@robfodder5575 that's my point. 👍
Loved the Adam Ondra impersonation!
Watching Emil go from animalistic screams to cheerful mild-mannered Swedish man in a matter of seconds is kinda hilarious

Haha excellent 💪😅
Matilda has such a captivating smile and positive attitude, wish she was doing more videos on YT!!
Never have I been more inspired to go out and start jamming body parts into cracks, so cool. Love the fight they both put in.
Emil and especially Matilda totally smashed it. Proper try hards and amazing close-up filming. Background scenery like a painting. Enjoyed the silent moments on the wall. Thanks a lot.

Rainy summer days is such a vibe. Need to get strong enough to climb on overhangs like this in the rain haha
Matilda's footwork is so impressive -- a masterclass!

Epic fight by Emil and then Matilda just does it cool and collected. What a crusher.
There’s something about the climbing sounds with the rain that is so peaceful. Notwithstanding power screams…

Emil's endurance for that steep crack climb was very impressive.

that poor purple cam at 15:03 mins.
emil got the ondra power scream on belly full of badberries
Exciting watch, proper try hard 💪
This was one of my favorite videos on the channel. Great work Pete!
Wow, thanks!
This series has already been flippin awesome! I’ve loved seeing these guys crack on!
Some BIG series coming up 😉

Amazing climbing style, she is soooo calm and strong.
Very good video guys! Matilda looking so calm and collected, and Emil absolutely powering through it was a pleasure to watch

Yes. I was looking forward to this all week.

Emil really gave all he had in him! Amazing effort!
Congrats to Matilda! Loved her attitude and happiness throughout both videos a lot! She's a real sunshine 🙂
Thankyou for not filling every moment with music and noise
really loved this series!! so sick to see world class climbers smashing out a new skill and having a proper fight for it
They were both utterly awe inspiring on the lead tries. Emil's boulder agression and Matilda's methodical solving on the route was ethralling to watch.
Such a great video, perfect editing and the tense of the climb! Just perfect. Matildas way of climbing is so calming. Just enjoyed it!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Sitting here watching this as an out of shape, soon to be 50 year old Dad… so envious… you guys are amazing.
The attitude is as awesome as the video. Well done guys fantastic effort
"the most pumped I've ever been in my life"

Emil, the hidden crack crusher. That was really awesome. Matilda and Emil are my new heroes 👏👏
Very nice editing in this one. Already one of my all time favorites
Such an exciting watch!!!
everyone has great personality and kind of attachment to their passion. Love it
Loved this episode and the previous one! Seeing pros outside of their comfort zone is so interesting. I'd love to see you initiate more climbers to crack.
Absolute beasts, I could feel my forearms getting pumped just watching.
Amazing send Matilda!! Looked like she cruzed that route🤙
How, just how can Pete have such smooth hand without any cuts and bruises?
My hands look way worse and I don't even crack climb.
Awesome video. Awesome crew.
years and years of getting cuts and bruises i’m guessing lol
@@freddie_connor9202 That doesnt make your hand smooth lol
Between these videos and the ones one Emil's channel, this is looking to be one of the best climbing collabs ever!
At time 14.22, perfect fist jam and Emil just be there using a minging crimp 😂
Did you legit teach them how to place gear as well?
So Good!!
I laughed too. They're using crimps on the crack edge when there are bomber jams within the crack. Play to your strengths!
Yeh we went through gear placing on both days, and on this route they saw my placements first
This has become one of the very best channels on UA-cam!
They're both so positive and fun!
Matilda, wow! Emil, wow! Amazing. Thanks Pete, helps a lot.
Shout out to the audio mix on this one.
Bringing top athletes over to a new discipline is always a good time!
What an awesome colab, and such great work from both Emil and Matilda... raging above gear on day 2! Wow
Very beautiful and impressive to see that, thank you !
And that's great to have some climbing scenes without music, we can focus on the moves
These shots are amazing, Pete!
The silence during the climbs is so intense, you get completely drawn in, like you're there. Good Lord, i desperately want to do some outdoor climbing.
Rad video! Glad that #5 came back out ;)
I started singing the Swedish national anthem when Emil did his climb. I don’t even *know* the Swedish national anthem.
When you do videos like this could you please give the name of the route as wll? Awesome video and series by the way.
2:59 "reaching into the cow's bottom" oh c'mon pete no need to censor yourself, we all know you really call it "hunting for dung"
Great episode, love the format! Matilda's 5% more squeeze face 🤗
Awesome video as always, well shot and edited! Superb climbing from both and proper fight 💪🏽💪🏽I’m curious Pete, what is the grade of that route? They definitely smashed it but it looks hard and steep!

Sick editing in this one, Pete or Pete. Well done
Had to watch this on the phone on my trip back home... And did a few flipperoos myself. Have to say, ut didn't matter. It was always great and enjoyable! Glad to see some beautiful crack and some powerscreaming!
Finally the wait is over!
Great set of videos, more of this content pls!
More to come! Some big series on their way 💪
'You can do the boxing uppercut' (I thought or you can do the jab? But no it's the reach into a cows bottom 😂)
This is so relaxing to watch.
Great film everyone! What a battle, and what a location!
The rain was so soothing
Awesome video! Emil was channeling his inner O-Dog. If he only had consulted with Professor Janecek I’m sure he would have done the lead first time. Awesome effort nonetheless from both of them 👏👏
@wideboyz awesome video thank you.

@@WideBoyz Thank you so much for your answer. :)
It was really cool watching her climb, seriously impressive. I think I’m being bitten by the crack climbing bug.
19:45 what an awesome shot
I wasn't familiar with Matilda before this, but I'm definitely a fan now 😍
That was brilliant
Your video quality/ shot selection and editing is amazing. Music is good but very loopy- the music is short and loops like 20-30 times per segment. I think some longer music would really help the videos shine, but maybe that’s just me that notices this.
love the thunder!!!!
I didnt realise they had started speaking Swedish and i thought i was having a stroke 😂
I was totally gripped watching this.
interesting the difference in style on that upper section. You can tell matilda is an incredible face climber, smashing out those tiny crimps.
Love to see some good ol’ fashion crack climbing. What’s the route?
Pete's hands - like shovels, the kind of thing you'd buy in Wicks to do gardening with and you wife would whinge that you gone over the top (again)!
Her hands - delecate and beautiful, like something Shakespeare would write a sonnet about.
Pete "smash it into the rock like a car jack and then twist it!"
Her face - OK!
Then she absolutely nails it!
Athletes are something else.
I appreciate the lack of music during the red point attempts
That was dope. Emil and Matilda take down Indian creek?
Pete, do you want to turn our owners to the dark crack side too? They are not very open for cracks.
And a brilliant video, love it. :D
Amazing work!!! Girl Power...
This was so cool!!
1:00 That's what a "fister" looks like to Emil, huh? This is gonna be fun. :D
9:45 Squeeze face
14:17 Oh god oh god oh god
21:45 Amazing, Matilda!
But glad you are missionary crack climbers 😍 keep up the good work 😘
proper stuff!
Great 👍
Gonna have to try power clipping
great music choice
Gawd... soo fun to watch...
Did you just tell Emil to do an arse jam?
Exactly 😅💪
Well, that's a cheeky move.
how little they try to jam feet, and how much easier would be by doing so. Or knees,... and also in the offwidth how little they try to do chicken winds,... they try to crimp and face climb as much as possible. Of course because they are super strong climbers and used to crimp rather than jam
sick
Made me sweat looking at her leading above her third piece, you wouldn't want to fall from there and have that green cam pull...
How much does that set of friends weights?
I like Mathildas swenglish
Sick
does anyone knows the grade of that route ?
great video !
7b
7b first trad lead. That's mad. But I guess I should have known they're both strong AF
