    I used to be glued to the TV when watching this as a kid in the 70s. I found it a little spooky at times, but there's actually something quite sweet, innocent and charmingly ridiculous about the atmosphere of this programme viewing it now.

    Haven't seen Kreskin since his shows were on daytime ITV in Britain in the 1970s. Those shown were from Canada but he did one British series.

    Listen carefully at 13:12 as he gives a really good insight into how the human mind works.

    Mentalists _are_ amazing. I had one who took a book, flipped through it quickly and told me to say stop whenever I wanted and to pick a word anywhere on the page. I immediately said stop and then picked a word barely visible. He went to two more people and did the same. They all said stop at different times and when all the had picked words, I thought for sure I had the guy. But he looked at me and said, "I think the word you chose had to do with bringing two things together. Was it 'connecting'?" I was stunned, for that was the word. How did he do it? He then proceeded to pick the two other words accurately as well. But that wasn't all, for he went to his briefcase and pulled an envelope out, and from the envelope he drew a large card, large enough for the audience to read. And there on the card were the three words, written with a magic market, with "connecting" being the first word. To predict it, he must have been either physic (not out of the question) or he had to know the word I would choose beforehand, and thus lead me to choosing the word. To this day, I know not. What do you think? Any mentalists out there? I know these guys don't want to reveal their tricks, but as someone who knows many times who's calling me, even when I haven't spoken to them in years, I know things like this are possible. But I also know it's not a hundred percent thing. This guy did it all the time.

    The first deck of cards is not shuffled. There is a majority of them are fives of spades. When he spreads them out on the table, the fives of spades are all in the middle of the crescent of cards.The second deck is also majority 5 of spades which places in the middle of the deck (which is why he puts the elastic on and tells her not to fan through). When he shows the audience that they are shuffled, he is showing the small portion of them that are in fact random.

      Also, he asked if the card was a club or spade - so he knew which one it wasn't.

    It's interesting that Kreskin mentioned how suggestible people are in crowds, especially with riots, considering what's going on in the country now. I am also thinking of The coronavirus scare, where the media told the suggestible public how frightened they should be for two months!

    At 20: 34 "Are you comfortable up there Ken, is your name Ken sir?" Kreskin gave the game away there, bloke is obviously a cohort.

    • @Rhewin
      @Rhewin 2 роки тому

      That was supposed to be its own minor reveal, but it went a bit too quickly. Kreskin would commonly already know a person’s name, and there were several ways he could get it without resorting to a cohort.

    He then takes that random part and puts it at the bottom of the deck. When she choses a card, chances are its a five of spades. He then places the duck in a strategic position so that it hits the middle of first deck, and also hits a five of spades.

    In the 1990s we were staying at an hotel in Spain, and we were watching a magician in the cabaret. And a subject from the audience went onstage and kept jumping up from the chair. So I think it's not suggestion, but just a trick chair.

    There is an electric current running through the chair - no doubt about it. It is causing the prickling. It is causing the magnetic pull. It is causing the inability to stand. Not sure about the dude going to his seat in the audience, though. But maybe that chair was trick, too?

    10:10 No hand-held microphone required to hear either man talk throughout 'trick', no doubt boom mic's implemented. 11:22 suddenly a hand-held microphone is needed to communicate. These type of shows were and are so full of sh*t it's not funny. Such a great 'mentalist' he has to ask the guy Paul at 15:21 to give his name again 10 minutes later as he can't remember it. Totally gives the game away at 20:34 where he pre-emptively names Ken before he asks him his name.

    Seems fraudish. But listem to how he pressures them, how thr audience encourages giving in. All mental pressuries, especially the man with the microphone. He said it himself.
    "Suggestions work in groups. Everyone eventually follows the orders."
