I have a balcony-sized part of a deck, and we have two racks of potted plants there. I started several years ago with herbs, and then got into pansies and other flowers. At first I looked for hummingbird/butterfly-friendly flowers, then realized all flowers are pollinators and critter-friendly so it didn't matter which ones. My partner got two deck chairs and a little table, which we'll use when the weather gets warmer. So we'll be doing the same things you are, but I'd suggest you might also want some plant friends on the balcony. We can also use the rest of the deck occasionally for an hour or so, so in the summer we take our folding table out and have breakfast or dinner there, and sometimes invite one of our neighbors to join.
I am a sensitive person too. And I went through the same thing you did (the night anxiety and panic attacks), at the end of March. It was something with the energies of the world. I am from Romania. A lot of sensitive people were struck by those energies.
My thoughts are with your Mom for her recovery. She sounds like a strong women. Also, best wishes to you and your boyfriend on this new adventure! Having your own space is a very satisfying feeling.

Yay, thank you so much!!! Yes, it's defitely an upgrade in many ways. Some parts of the apartment are a little bit less 'fancy' as this one, it's quite simple and definitely like a starter home, but I really don't mind, I just love the fact that it'll be ours and that we can live there simply, without having to worry about a huge mortgage or anything :)

Congratulations on the big purchase. Hearing you talk about how important it is to have a ‘safe’ feeling home, made me feel better. Moving is so traumatic for me. Even when the move is ‘good’. I feel more ‘normal’ after hearing your experience. I am sorry to hear of all you went through with your mom and how stressful and scary it is. Last year my mom had her 4th time having cancer and treatment. I thought I did so well through it until the worst was over and she was recovering well and then I had a huge crash. I actually did not recover until just this past fall. It does help so much to have the self care and mindfulness practices you have and especially minimalism. It just helps to have more bandwidth when stress does come. I hope you ‘recover’ well and quickly.
I'm right there with you, Vera. The simplest everyday things I just have to go in my bedroom and lay down and block out everything to recover. The smallest things that need to be done overwhelm me. I get extremely anxious and cannot sleep or eat. I see these people getting all this stuff done, like it's a breeze and I just shake my head.. How? I am sorry to hear about your mom. I, too, have medical anxiety. My BP shoots up when I get around any medical. I understand everything you are saying.
Yay! Welcome back! I totally understand the the stress of buying a home. I have bought and sold two houses. It was HORRIBLE! Now I am so happy being a renter, and I am in a very good situation. I don't know if I will ever buy/own a home again. Sending well wishes to your mom, and sorry for your health scares. My goodness. You have had so much at once. I am a nurse and even I get scared with doctor visits. Life is so fragile. I think it reminds us to be grateful for health and safety. 📿

Every time I don't feel well, or a loved one is not well, I try to double down on appreciating when I feel well/normal. Our march was nice, finished up our post-op recovery and went back to work. Spent a lot of our off time working on music. We definitely know how you feel about the crazy rents- its been wild here in Canada too. We're very grateful for the place we're living right now, as the rent hs not increased since we moved in 4 years ago. The way you describe your neighbourhood w the abandoned buildings is very intriguing to us.

My big thing the past 9 months is an elderly relative reaching the point she needed to move from an apartment to a room in a 24-hour care home and me managing her bills. So I had to dispose of her furniture and car and bring two dozen file containers to my place to sort through. She'd saved every bill and brochure from the past thirty years, and she'd had to submit her medical receipts every year for a housing discount so she had all those notebooks. Luckily several volunteers helped with the furniture and household items, otherwise I'd be overwhelmed. I've been taking a kind of break from it the past three months, but now I'm in the home stretch to finally finish going through those containers. I've long been a minimalist. Not extreme, but all my possessions fit in 2-3 pickup truck loads. So it's been an ordeal sorting through a non-minimalist's stuff, deciding what to keep. Some things she needs for use or documentation, some for nostalgia, but I have to decide what will be important in the future and what won't. She now has prefurnished room with few personal possessions, and she wants to avoid clutter accumulating there like it did in the apartment. So she says to throw away all the old photos and items I can't store, because she doesn't want my apartment filled with her clutter either. So now taking care of my clutter and her clutter has merged into the same thing. I've pared down my files a lot but I still need to do more, and let go of some old books I haven't read, and I'm staring at a yoga mat I haven't used for years but still maybe I'll get back into it someday. So that's the phase I'm in now.

Ik zei hetzelfde als jij, dit is de eerste en laatste keer en we wonen er nu 15 jaar tot volle tevredenheid. Lees een het boek van Hypotheekvrij van Gerard Hormann eens als je weer in rustiger vaarwater bent, vind het inspirerend. Sterke voor je mam, dat zal niet meevallen! Dan ook nog zoveel kijkers! Dat heb je met heel hard werken toch maar mooi bereikt. En terecht. Weer bedankt voor de leuke video.

As one sensitive, and yet strong person (as your art also says), I can relate as far as the need to live in a safe, clean and pollution-free neighborhood is concerned. My surroundings are pretty much like yours and, as much as I am grateful for my apartment, I would much rather live in a quiet house with a backyard. Sorry to hear about your and your mother's health issues, they are the ones that matter ana I hope every new day is better than the previous. Don't worry about making the right choice. Even if it doesn't turn out to be what you had expected I am certain you will find a way to make things work. You are talented on so many levels, one of which is reaching people's souls and minds. March was all about phone detox, because my excessive phone usage was starting to become a problem, particularly at bedtim because I would get out of bed, switch on my phone watch reels on FB, and I would do that for about an hour or more. After watching a video about excessive phone usage, I decided to do something about it, so I removed FB, WhatsApp, UA-cam and internet browsers from my phone, and my sleep improved dramatically. This is another new habit that i'll be sticking to :)

The door to the street being checked always is a matter I face as well cause we live in a building with apartments and there is at least one owner who almost never closes and locks the door it does not go straight to the street there is a garden we live in but he never locks!

Tjonge je hebt wel veel stress achter de rug. In de stress-top 5 staan: op 1 het sterven van een geliefde (dat is gelukkig niet gebeurd, maar het was spannend) en op 2 een grote hypotheek afsluiten. Het gaat over veel geld en het is erg stressvol. Ik heb 2x in mijn leven een huis gekocht, en bij beide had ik al toen ik net binnen was het gevoel: dit is het! Dan had ik alleen nog maar de huiskamer gezien, haha! Het is zooo belangrijk dat het goed voelt, dus dat heb je goed gedaan!

That sounds absolutely awesome and I am sure after the stress has calmed a bit you will feel so relieved. :) I moved from a very similar crowdy, dirty and noisy neighborhood to a quiet "boring" one last year and it felt so good. There were actually a lot of little stressors that I only noticed had been stressing me out after moving away from there. I can imagine this might happen to you, too. Congratulations on the big purchase. Hearing you talk about how important it is to have a ‘safe’ feeling home, made me feel better. Moving is so traumatic for me. Even when the move is ‘good’. I feel more ‘normal’ after hearing your experience. I am sorry to hear of all you went through with your mom and how stressful and scary it is. Last year my mom had her 4th time having cancer and treatment. I thought I did so well through it until the worst was over and she was recovering well and then I had a huge crash. I actually did not recover until just this past fall. It does help so much to have the self care and mindfulness practices you have and especially minimalism. It just helps to have more bandwidth when stress does come. I hope you ‘recover’ well and quickly.

I'm right there with you, Vera. The simplest everyday things I just have to go in my bedroom and lay down and block out everything to recover. The smallest things that need to be done overwhelm me. I get extremely anxious and cannot sleep or eat. I see these people getting all this stuff done, like it's a breeze and I just shake my head.. How? I am sorry to hear about your mom. I, too, have medical anxiety. My BP shoots up when I get around any medical. I understand everything you are saying.
Yay! Welcome back! I totally understand the the stress of buying a home. I have bought and sold two houses. It was HORRIBLE! Now I am so happy being a renter, and I am in a very good situation. I don't know if I will ever buy/own a home again. Sending well wishes to your mom, and sorry for your health scares. My goodness. You have had so much at once. I am a nurse and even I get scared with doctor visits. Life is so fragile. I think it reminds us to be grateful for health and safety. 📿

Our march was nice, finished up our post-op recovery and went back to work. Spent a lot of our off time working on music.
We definitely know how you feel about the crazy rents- its been wild here in Canada too. We're very grateful for the place we're living right now, as the rent hs not increased since we moved in 4 years ago. The way you describe your neighbourhood w the abandoned buildings is very intriguing to us.

I'm very glad for your news, also congratulations, that you two will move! (in german we say "in unseren eigenen vier Wände" ) and I'm so with you, how important the place where we live is. Things around us should trigger the good (!) things and not the others, we don't want. So we subcontiously struggle with this and that, because we are in our real comfort zone.

My big thing the past 9 months is an elderly relative reaching the point she needed to move from an apartment to a room in a 24-hour care home and me managing her bills. So I had to dispose of her furniture and car and bring two dozen file containers to my place to sort through. She'd saved every bill and brochure from the past thirty years, and she'd had to submit her medical receipts every year for a housing discount so she had all those notebooks. Luckily several volunteers helped with the furniture and household items, otherwise I'd be overwhelmed. I've been taking a kind of break from it the past three months, but now I'm in the home stretch to finally finish going through those containers.
I've long been a minimalist. Not extreme, but all my possessions fit in 2-3 pickup truck loads. So it's been an ordeal sorting through a non-minimalist's stuff, deciding what to keep. Some things she needs for use or documentation, some for nostalgia, but I have to decide what will be important in the future and what won't. She now has prefurnished room with few personal possessions, and she wants to avoid clutter accumulating there like it did in the apartment. So she says to throw away all the old photos and items I can't store, because she doesn't want my apartment filled with her clutter either.
So now taking care of my clutter and her clutter has merged into the same thing. I've pared down my files a lot but I still need to do more, and let go of some old books I haven't read, and I'm staring at a yoga mat I haven't used for years but still maybe I'll get back into it someday. So that's the phase I'm in now.

As one sensitive, and yet strong person (as your art also says), I can relate as far as the need to live in a safe, clean and pollution-free neighborhood is concerned. My surroundings are pretty much like yours and, as much as I am grateful for my apartment, I would much rather live in a quiet house with a backyard. Sorry to hear about your and your mother's health issues, they are the ones that matter ana I hope every new day is better than the previous.
Don't worry about making the right choice. Even if it doesn't turn out to be what you had expected I am certain you will find a way to make things work. You are talented on so many levels, one of which is reaching people's souls and minds. One cannot but like you. When you talk so openly I feel like we are in the same room, just hanging around, chatting about our lives. March was all about phone detox, because my excessive phone usage was starting to become a problem, particularly at bedtim because I would get out of bed, switch on my phone watch reels on FB, and I would do that for about an hour or more.
After watching a video about excessive phone usage, I decided to do something about it, so I removed FB, WhatsApp, UA-cam and internet browsers from my phone, and my sleep improved dramatically. This is another new habit that i'll be sticking to :)

The door to the street being checked always is a matter I face as well cause we live in a building with apartments and there is at least one owner who almost never closes and locks the door it does not go straight to the street there is a garden we live in but he never locks!

Tjonge je hebt wel veel stress achter de rug. In de stress-top 5 staan: op 1 het sterven van een geliefde (dat is gelukkig niet gebeurd, maar het was spannend) en op 2 een grote hypotheek afsluiten. Het gaat over veel geld en het is erg stressvol. Ik heb 2x in mijn leven een huis gekocht, en bij beide had ik al toen ik net binnen was het gevoel: dit is het! Dan had ik alleen nog maar de huiskamer gezien, haha! Het is zooo belangrijk dat het goed voelt, dus dat heb je goed gedaan!

I moved from a very similar crowdy, dirty and noisy neighborhood to a quiet "boring" one last year and it felt so good. There were actually a lot of little stressors that I only noticed had been stressing me out after moving away from there. I can imagine this might happen to you, too.
