Just a warning, don’t skip the step of waxing the gears. This is critical to getting the box to open properly. I basically ruined mine by not doing this step.
I was a bit surprised when I saw this video today because I had just put mine together the night before you posted it, lol. It was a lot of fun to put together and beautifully designed. The opening and closing mechanics are very satisfying, I find myself just opening it and closing it over and over, haha!

Help PLEASE! My son just put this together - but the top is resisting and not opening smoothly (manually). Plus - you can turn the key repeatedly, but it doesn't open the box. Any suggestions?
There may be some internal pieces that were not put together properly if the key doesn't work properly. Unfortunately you may need to open the box again to see that everything has been done correctly. A slight bit of resistance as the top opens is not uncommon.
I just had that problem last night. Take the box apart all the way back to when you put the gears together on the side. There are tons of moving parts that need to be aligned perfectly.

Is it difficult to wax the pieces? How do you do it?
@@diegovaldes3785 no it is not hard as you only need a wax candle to rub on the gears.
I also suggest lightly sanding the sides of the gears and whatever other piece(s) they may rub against.

Can i paint it? maybe some white spray paint? do you think that will disturb the mechanism..?
I would say you could paint the outside but if you paint the inside the inner workings would get stuck and not move as effectively.

Can you open the box without the key? For example rotating the keyhole with other tools or simply jz rotating the gear mechanism at the side?
Rotating keyhole - yes, you don't need a key, you even can do it with your hand as long as the top lock is unlocked. Rotating side gears - no.
I tried building the box but the components, especially the pegs are very hard to put in the small square boxes, any trick to it?
Try using candle wax on the pieces

We have one at the store that was made from this video and it has not broken in over a year.
