this episoded proper explained to me why cecil likes donald so much. he is good at his job but also is someone he trusts to do the right thing and 100 percent of the time would give his life for others. cecils ideal number 2
It's a good foil for him to play off of. Cecil does care about things, but he's willing to make shitty decisions no one else wants to and doesn't regret much of it. Donald, comparatively, operates near the other end of the spectrum and their work relationship keeps each other in check. Donald pulls Cecil back while Cecil reminds Donald of the grim realities of the job--not just the ideologies we wish we could always live by.

I've been dreading Anissa's arrival since i caught up with the comic
Anissa is waaaaay hotter here where she was menacing and terrifying in the comic books.
Even though it's almost a meme, by now, how us "comic readers" spoil the shit out of eveything for non comic readers, Imma still put it out there...

I'm not sure how to feel about it, honestly. She's a lot hotter here that in the comics, and as far as I know it's been confirmed that they have full intention of going ahead and do it for the show too.
I wonder if Anissa being handled like this in the show, is a way to preemptively "soften" the later blow... But it they do, I feel even less people would take it seriously that they did when it happened in the comics, y'know what I mean?
Not complaining at all. She awakens a lot of shit in lot of people. Love her.

I knew only a few things about Invincible before this series came out, the first being the fight between him and his dad, so the end of season 1. Another was this Comic Con bit about cutting corners, that's hilarious.
Anissa is the only other thing I know about.

I love that they did the 4th wall break there. They did it in the comic too, but it was making fun of how comic artists will sometimes reuse the same image for multiple panels in a row with different word balloons as its happening in the book.
Funniest thing about Carl Winslow being in this is that EVEN IN THE COMIC BOOKS, the high school was always named after Reginald Veljohnson (Carl Winslow) and the principal/dean even was drawn like him too 😂

In regards to the Anissa discussion between the two who have read the comics, she did show up around this time in the storyline prior to the guy she's warning about, I think in the comics she and Mark even spent a lot more time together doing various hero things aside from the one kaiju shown here. I'm guessing they're probably forgetting the, uh, "big" Anissa moment wasn't her first appearance, and it happens much later.
I haven’t read the comics (yet), but I know some things, including about Anissa. I’m scared. As are the comic readers.

They don't want to kill mark cause he is a test on how humans and viltrumites mox, if he gets stronger he will prove a success.
The whole point is they watch the show and find out.

Anissa says that "Human civilization has less than an 18 percent chance of surviving the next two centuries without the loss of billions of lives", then Cecil says that Mark "has a less than 18% chance of surviving a combat encounter with her". Essentially, the play on words symbolizes Mark as humanity itself, given that he identifies far more as a human than as a Viltrumite and refuses to accept the duty passed to him from Nolan.
The overall message is that the odds are very much stacked against humanity in the face of Viltrum takeover, and that Mark definitely can't defend Earth alone. Despite their strength, the Guardians are essentially moot in this situation. Nolan slaughtered them in the very first episode, after all, so help will need to come from elsewhere.

Honestly, the CRAZIEST idea I've heard anyone say about the events of this episode is that the Sequids could TAKE OVER Sterling K. Brain (😂) and potentially take over minds throughout EVERY single galaxy(?) until they control EVERYTHING... Maaayyybe a bit far fetched, but I can see it a smaller scale, like they stop it from spreading but it still happens type beat.
I've watched this episode prolly 30 times, it feels like (1st watch + 1 million reactions) and I'm JUST now noticing (at about 9:49 this video) That SHRINKING RAE... Never unshrunk back to normal. I know all her bones were broken, but if you notice how small the bed actually is, THEN notice how little of it she actually takes up, you'll see she might still be the same size as when she crawled out of homies mouth... Which is AWFUL. Nobody watches the Halo TV series, but a similar thing took a Spartan out of commission. She was never able to fight again, but she was at least able to find peace in life beyond being a soldier. I pray for the same for Rae (or Ray, whatever lol)

Just saying, that thing you talked about Anissa at the start of the discussion section doesn't happen until very later. It has nothing to do with this moment in the story. Also it's pretty integral to the story, so idk if they can remove it

Funny that you called Rex similar to Gambit! 😂 Watching X-men '97 (and the OG series again, just cuz) I thought Rex resembled Jubilee, more than anything. After a few episodes of that thought process, I also started thinking of Gambit as well. His power is more similar to Gambit NOW, where as in S1 he kinda just threw his powers around much more like Jubilee, and now in S2 he's embedding his powers into items much more like Gambit. His personality is mix of both, as well, as he is VERY bratty, ala Jubilee, but he is a "hotshot" that "can't be trusted" in a lot of peoples eyes (viewers). At least, that was before this episode. I think even the "good guy" act he put on with Eve was much more of a Jubilee move than a Gambit.

Believe me when I say YOU GUYS ARE NOT READY FOR ANISSA! She is the most hated Invincible character for a DAMN good reason. Trust me in the long term future of the show you'll see what I mean.
While I am glad Mark and Amber broke up for the better, I will say they wrote Amber SO MUCH BETTER in this season. At least for me, they redeemed her from Season 1 and made her more understanding, mature until she reached a logical breaking point regarding how fragile her and Marks's relationship was.
I also love that little 4th-wall break at the beginning

I’m starting to think invincible comic fans are the worst. It’s like they can’t help but spoil stuff to feel special or something
I can’t imagine any good reason to give Amber any more slander after this. She may have been annoying about the whole secret identity thing back in Season 1 but she has done nothing but be a very supportive girlfriend and really did try to make the relationship work. The way they handled the breakup was very mature and mutual. Even though they didn’t want to stop seeing each other, they both understand the consequences just by being involved could bring. Poor Amber got mixed up in all this and almost died to someone Mark doesn’t even know just because of who he is, and it’s no surprise that was the last straw.
Even then, she was pretty much always on the level, all the fuss over her was total horsesh*t from the jump

She shouldn’t have expected Mark to give her all of his secrets after only a few months of dating.
@@JackAndP There was a Kirkman interview where he pretty much insinuated that Amber's contradictory behavior between the college episode and the following episode was the result of a writing continuity error. The team is usually pretty consistent about that stuff, but this one relatively small mistake ended up having a huge impact on how a lot of people viewed Amber's character as a whole.
Because I'm pretty sure a large percentage of the audience was actually pretty sympathetic toward Amber for most of season 1. But revealing that she's known about Mark's identity for _weeks_ has the unintended side effect of making her dialogue and actions at the university look very petty and manipulative retroactively. It's a real shame, because that clearly wasn't their original intent with the character.
@@loco_logic They screwed up a bit with season 1. Eve’s logo was accidentally swapped for when her model is far away, so it just looks like Nega-Woman instead of a ♀ sign with an atom.
I just really hope the end of Mark and Amber isn't the beginning of Mark and Eve. I know it's the cannon ship in the comcis, but hope theu do something different. Let Eve just be his friend. Don't be so boring and predictable with the romance.
They eventually have to get together in order to be faithful to the comics, but I do think building the foundation for their relationship via a strong friendship would be really cool to see.
