Another Great day on the river learning where the gold is . The big rocks are great but your also are looking for hard packed material that has to be loosened with a bar. Also try to determine weather these rocks have been moved there by previous miners. Alot of your Gold is flood gold bright an shiny. The old Gold is that dirty Gold like your Nugget .Ive been doing this for 40 yrs so Im just trying to help you like the old timers help me when I was starting. Great Video Peace
Tysm for the advice. I appreciate it! Yes, a lot of the material we work in is flood gold, but it's pretty packed and has to be broken down with a shovel!
Hell i'd appreciate any advice. My old stomping grounds are starting to run out of river! Hard to find publicly accessible river that isn't more than 2 hours away from sacramento! I've been to most of the South yuba access points ( purdon crossing, edwards crossing, Independence trail) But while i've found a couple ounces i've never hit a spot that was "RICH" rich... The American river has never treated me well and the North Yuba is ALL claimed up so i feel kind of out of options now! That's where i'm at ...
I envy the fact you can still go out and sluice. It's hit -3 a couple times already here in Anchorage AK. I want to go out and mine so bad, enjoy and best of luck!
We only have about 5 hours we can comfortably work curtly this video was recorded month ago! I have videos set to post every Friday for the next 3 months on top of recording weekly
Great video man…keep it up and it won’t be long you’ll be one of the top prospecting channels, also for being so new to it you really are finding a lot of gold. 👍
That's a "trime". Very small and amazing. I found one in my backyard after detecting it a dozen times or more. The signal was not something I would've dug anywhere else. Oldest coin I ever found. 1854.
What year is the half dime? Does it have a mint mark, it would be a "O" if you have a mint mark, struck in New Orleans. That dime may have been there for well over a hundred years.
@@MishaBoylan do not try to clean it up, just try to find the date and see if there is a mint mark. You documented the location it was found. It was likely lost by a gold miner in during the gold rush era. That alone makes it extremely valuable. Some half dimes are worth a half million. The most rare was I think 1870 with a CC mint mark, it is worth even more. But yours has history and the find location documented. A coin like that can be priceless. Your friend is probably set for retirement.
Misha... VERY cool Half Dime find by Mike!! Like mentioned below...be SURE and advise Mike NOT to try and do ANY cleaning of the coin...such as scrubbing, polishing, brushing, dipping, anything! "Cleaned" coins lose a LOT of value and are tainted for life. Very natural and desirable for old silver coins to have natural "patina". :) What's the year (obverse) and mint mark....if any on the back (reverse)?? In September I was sniping on a club claim in Downieville below the Durgan Bridge on bedrock and besides a LOT of lead (no gold) I found a very cool old Chinese copper coin from the Gold Rush days with a square hole in the middle and a little of the markings readable on both sides. Not worth anything but a VERY cool relic of days gone past! Cheers. Randy C0017A :)
Very interesting tysm for the information. I belive he's adding it to his collection because he found a silver dollar aswell but in terrible condition. It will be in a future video
@MishaBoylan maybe I should watch the whole video before I comment. "Jet" brand makes a small chain come along. 3/4 ton. They are small enough for a backpack. They aren't the best brand though... Harrington is better. Don't use a ratchet strap. They are dangerous if you try to cut them loose under a load. The nylon strap is good though. Just remember, knots weaken rope. And slings. I rig for a living. Be safe, can't wait to see a huge nug for you
@MishaBoylan yup.only reason I suggest jet is the $. They operate weird compared to Harrington $$$$. Wire come along are meh.... Also get a snatch block

Im in Washington, the ground is already frozen here.
The further north you go, the shorter the season.
Sad! Yeah, freezing ground is around the corner. I usually get out about 9 am because the ground thaws a bit!

Don't know where you're at but you're on very good ground!
Definitely! Lots of good ground in California!

We will take a look at it. It might be hard to read because it was in a flood area. About 2 to 3 feet in the water

@@MishaBoylan nice! Keep it up!
@kord530 we need to make a metal detecting video together!
Well, that half dime is certainly worth more than five cents now.
Hahha indeed

You need to screen and discard those pebbles, otherwise you're impeding settling of small and micro gold. A half dime proceeded the nickel
Tysm very cool
Get yourself a baby come along, and drag in a few chockers. Those big BIG rocks can move too...
Haha yeah lots of good gold under them!
