Do you realise that this is the same tune as "O sole mio"? Written in 1898. Its Neapolitan language lyrics were written by Giovanni Capurro and the music was composed by Eduardo di Capua (1865-1917) and Alfredo Mazzucchi (1878-1972). It's been used by Elvis Presley, and for advertising ice creams . . .

Elvis was possibly the top early rock and roll singer/performer of all time. I remember watching his first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show when I was 5 years old. What an impression! But, Elvis never wrote a song. His entire career was based on covers & performing others written for him.
Angelina does it all. Covers, originals, first recordings, and so much variety! What she does best is interpret a songs story so that we can feel the true meaning. Elvis made the ladies swoon. Angelina makes Everyone FEEL the song
Since it was one of the annual sing-along concerts, she probably played it pretty straight so it would best meld with those singing along. She was cute as a button with that dark purple flower headpiece.

A great way to start off a day! Yes, if the message of the song is clear and the melody is so appealing she goes with the flow. She only adds her 'runs' into songs when she feels it is necessary. We hear the finished product and we love it but what she does behind the scenes drafting her ideas on paper should be equally appreciated. Her voice is beyond comprehension it is so beautiful and her artistic qualities border on genius. During some rehearsals she is seen discussing arrangements with the conductor of an orchestra and, believe me, the conductor is all ears. Oh, she was 11 and/or 12 in some of the video's. only Angelina...

This recommendation is about "My funny valentine" as a mash-up: Ella Fitzgerald + Angelina Jordan's "armchair performance" (10yo) & "antique shop performance" (16yo). It's a joeyfarr fan video and also contains some shots of the "garden concert performance" (9yo). I remember your reaction to the mash-up of "All of me" with John Legend, which didn't go down so well, so I'm not sure if that's a good idea.
