Certain brands are popular just because of the brand name (we all know who they are). Others, equally as good, sometimes better, never seem to get the attention they deserve. Guild is a brand that always seems to fly below the radar. Another superb demo of an outstanding guitar.
Transparent and full sounding with a little left in the throttle for when you want to punch it. The nitro finish really lets the timbre breathe and blossom; doesn't have that plastic-y thudness on it. Heavy poly finish doesn't bother an electric guitar but man I really want to grab the emery cloth and just go to work on a couple old acoustivs I have that are just caked with poly...especially since hearing now nice nitro sounds with a mic setup that captures it, revives my desire to go scrape 'em until they're thin.
The guilds are heavy and seem to have dryer mids . Guild was formed in NYCwhen epiphany was boioby Gibson and the tech staff formed guild. The guilds were cheaper than the Gibson so poorer players bought them . I told you on the phone that I have several vintage guilds including a d66 and an Artist award. I recently bought several vintage martins including a hd28 ‘’87 and a d35, both are great but nothing beat the old beat up George Gruhn D66 , let me know if you have one. You two chuckle heads can really sell guitars ty
I would still have one of these if the nut was 1 3/4.... I love the way that guitar sounded...just couldn't get it to play right cause all my other guitars are 1 3/4 Nut
Me too, I can't get on with smaller nut width otherwise I'd have a d40. Same with all their USA 6 strings, quite frustrating. Got a Guild 12 string though.
Hi ! Nice review of the Guild D-40. I had the luck to play a D-20 Mahogany and a D-40 Traditional Guild a couple weeks back. They were both exceptional sounding and playing instruments, but both had some shop wear for being around for awhile. Both well under $2000.00 with a original hard case. Priced to sell. Still thinking about them ? Would love to play a D-55 ,but nobody has a new one in southern WI. ? Thanks !

Another Guild, another winner. Never seen a Guild on this channel I didn't want to buy.
Wonderful guitar.
Guild makes some great looking and sounding guitars.
Still have a F65 12 string (1987) (now the 512) -- hard to beat the big sound! And an old friend loves his M-20. Guild is a good manufacturer!
I’m lucky enough to own a Guild D40e. Fantastic guitar! Thank you for the video!
Beautiful burst and fantastic sounding guitar. Love my Guilds ❤ Thanks for posting this 👍🙏
That is one “purty “ gee-tar! ❤️
Its look like classic... So beautiful.❤❤❤
Nice boomer! 1970 GTO! 2009 HD Fat Boy! My boomer guitar, Martin HD-28V!
That sounds good. Are they doing anything different with the guitar under the new ownership? 8Thanks Quinton and Paul.

Looks good...i love guilds...especially old ones but this mahogony guitar doesn't have many overtones.
The thinner finish does it good.🤸

I love it
Wish my D40-T had that thin satin nitro.
