I grew up in and around Lewes, I don't live in the town anymore but come November 5th I will be marching the streets with torch in hand alongside my mother, just as I first did when I was a child.
This is fantastic! Why is this not much more popular? This randomly showed up in my viewing queue and I'm sure glad it did. Very well done. Makes me even more want to get the hell out of the US and move to the UK! ❤
Great little film. I’m not from Lewis but I can vouch for the very distinctive character of the town beautifully caught by Martin. Recognised a couple of familiar faces from days gone by too. Good to see they are still plying their trades.
Thanks for describing my town! I like the film, and give you an invitation to come back and make a sequel: how the community of Lewes pulls together and supports vulnerable individuals and families during times of crisis ( Lewes Corona Volunteers) and how Transition Town Lewes has developed the Lewes Pound to keep our economy local. Look how we marked Black Lives Matter and the work of Diversity Lewes. Look at the "community signage" for Active Travel proposals drawn by XR Lewes.... come back, and find more women to talk to, and BAME people and the creativity of our young people.
Hi Martin, would you be interested in having your documentary feature on our Lewes based visual radio project? We're just in the process of collating relevant material to be scheduled.. Regards. Jack
As a Lewesian, this film made me appreciate the town, and those in it all the more. Beautifully crafted - thank you.

thank you so much for your kind words. the real stars are the people who agreed to be filmed! i cant remember anyone who was not up for it actually!
A beautifully crafted film that showcases the town of Lewes very well.
