This whole album is stellar. Sometimes everything clicks, this is one of those times.
Dearest Abby,
You were a mesmerizing force on stage. There was always complete silence when you sang because no one wanted to miss your soaring, inventive phrasing and silky husky voice. Bird Alone was my favorite song by you and I thank you for enriching my life with your uniqueness.
R.I.P.
You've said it all right here, brotha!
I had the high honor of attending both of Abby's performances at Jazz Alley in Seattle, hearing two impassioned and stunningly emotive versions of Bird Alone. I will never forget that night. Got to have a drink with Abby and her band that night as well. We have truly lost a great, enriching soul.
❤
Abbey and Stan, we adore you, make beautiful music, wherever you are
The timbre of Abbey's voice is exquisite- and a perfect pairing with Stan's dulcet, euphonious tones and phrasing.
So well said!
When you tryna flex your music knowledge while being deep lmaoo
Totally in Love with Abbey Lincoln.
Me too 💖
The whole package!! Everything necessary to put beauty into the listener´s
heart.
One of Stan's most lucid and languid solos; absolutely lovely! Ditto for Hank!
She is an angel. One of the truly great singers.
I love everything Abbey sings, love this song, she is singing about me an my life
IT FEELS LIKE I'M AT THE TOP OF THE GATE IN THE VILLAGE IN THE 60'S CATCHING A LIVE SHOW WITH ABBEY. MY MEMORIES BECOME VERY VIVID LISTENING TO HER..
WISH I COULD GO BACK FOR A LITTLE WHILE.......!!
This was Stan's last album work and I'm sure he enjoyed doing it with the wonderful Abbey Lincoln, and although he was in a lot of pain doing it due to liver cancer, his solo was quintessential Getz
And Hank Jones is just wonderful, too.
Crikey! What a voice.
Thank you for the inspiration Abbey. You are the greatest singer/songwriter of our time and your music will on. Bless you always. xxxoooo RIP
fantastic singer... angelic in her approach!!... i love "Bird Alone"... im a jazz pianist... ive accomp one or two singers from balto/wash area sing this tune... they both good singers... Abbey truly owns this song!!!
Abbey and Stan are having tea on some distant planet, laughing.
I came here because of Bosch. Cruising the graveyard shift during a cool California coastal breeze. Beautiful song
Bosch ?
@@wimpers Harry Bosch, LAPD Detective, main hero of Michael Connelly’s novels. This detective has a good taste in music. This song is featured in The Last Coyote.
@@davidragimov147 I'm reading that right now and looked it up when he talked about it. Love Harry Bosch!
Abbey "Aminata" Lincoln indeed had a unique sound and coupled with Stan Getz' recognition and interpretation of her sound, lends itself to superbly BEAUTIFUL, enchantingly rich music!!
And, oh, her Band!!💯🎶🎵🎷💯
Amazing Track ✨
swoony/spiritual “soulful sounds.”
What a recording!
Still sounds great...miss you Mr. Getz
You are now with the greats Abby (Ella, Lena and Billy Holiday) God bless the Child

Hank Jones's playing is my favorite not to mention Abbey's vocals and THE TUNE. Nothing gets me quite like this one.
here collaboration with Hank Jones is timeless
