And as a 55 year old woman I am definatley not your usual demographic. But wow, the more I find out about your music and art the more I am enjoying it. Also, you seem like an absolutely lovely, lively, extremely intelligent person. It's not really surprising how people have stood by you. They can sense an injustice occured. I've seen lots of clips, but I'll make a point of watching the whole thing. Love the live shows I have seen online. I nearly bought a ticket to the London show (there were still some tickets when it changed venue) then I remembered I'm 55, have polymyalgia and can't stand up for long and thought better of it😂 Also I think my husband would think I'd totally lost my mind if I tried to take him to a joost gig 😂
I have goosebumps watching the contrasting fragment (0:47-0:52) when Joost is being dragged and people around are still dancing. For me, cinema should tell a story without words, and here we have it in only 5 seconds! Don't get me wrong, there are worse things in this fucked up world than getting disqualified, but there is something very emotional about seeing representation of the recent events of the Jury Final filtered through the artist's imagination. As if the weapon in this peaceful protest was the unity of people who had time of their life dancing and singing to the material repetition. Years have passed since I came across such inspiring artists as Joost and his team.

I really relate to Joost, I also lost my parents at a young age. I don't personally believe it's possible to separate trauma from art, I think it's a beautiful way to process the trauma while remembering those we've lost. Even if the song isn't explicitly about this trauma or loss, it is still going to forever color anybody's perspective and I think that's an interesting thing. Side note: As an orphan I've always felt a bit strange because, in my eyes, everybody becomes an orphan sooner or later. Obviously, for some of us it happened sooner rather than later, but it's nonetheless something I think about often.

I’m American and never got into Eurovision even though I knew of it. Hearing joost’s story still makes me sad though. I can’t understand the lyrics but I know he can make fun hits as well as impactful music about his upbringing as well. I wish him the best next year.

I really relate to Joost, I also lost my parents at a young age. I don't personally believe it's possible to separate trauma from art, I think it's a beautiful way to process the trauma while remembering those we've lost. Even if the song isn't explicitly about this trauma or loss, it is still going to forever color anybody's perspective and I think that's an interesting thing.
Side note: As an orphan I've always felt a bit strange because, in my eyes, everybody becomes an orphan sooner or later. Obviously, for some of us it happened sooner rather than later, but it's nonetheless something I think about often.
